Ella Carrol has been an absolute breath of fresh air to work with and I highly recommend her. She has listened to everything we might be worried about and been an excellent advocate for our property.... See more

Jamie Woodman went above and beyond recently when I had an issue with my toilet seat. The first set of contractors hired didn't show up for the job but she quickly hired another contractor to complete the work and communicated with me throughout on what was happening.
I had a specific request with challenging circumstances and unmovable deadlines. Zayd helped to navigate through the process and I eventually moved on 15 August 2026. Thanks
We have viewed properties with Fern Bailey on a number of occasions. Fern does an excellent job for her clients in always presenting properties positively but never in a pushy way. She tries to understand the needs of prospective buyers and is always helpful and courteous.
We rented a property through Chancellors for just 12 months and had an extremely poor experience throughout. This wasn't down to one individual. We dealt with multiple property managers and numerous people across the business, yet the same issues with poor communication, repeated mistakes and general mismanagement continued.
It became bad enough that I eventually took my complaint to the Property Redress Scheme, who independently reviewed the case and awarded me compensation.
We were good tenants and, from what we saw, the service provided to our landlord was extremely poor too. We ended up having a direct relationship (despite him paying them to manage the property!).
I'm writing this because I genuinely wouldn't want anyone else to have the experience we did. I would honestly choose a less suitable property over ever renting through Chancellors again.
I had a great experience when looking for a property. George Tubb Marla was extremely helpful. He made the process easy as he went through all the information about the property in detail, he also kept communication strong and answered all my questions in great detail. Overall my experience of using Chancellors has been stress free and positive. Thank you George for all your help and support.
We have been with Chancellors since 2022 and the service has been consistently unacceptable. Despite paying for full management, our tenants repeatedly contacted us directly because Chancellors simply did not respond to them. We were effectively managing the property ourselves while still paying Chancellors for a service they were not providing.
In 2024, our tenants moved out while we were abroad due to a family bereavement. Our neighbour alerted us that the bins were overflowing and, shockingly, the property doors had been left open. We tried contacting Chancellors urgently, only to be told it was the checkout agency’s fault — an agency they themselves appointed.
When new tenants moved in (while we were still away), we asked Chancellors to downgrade our service to basic rent collection only. Once we returned, the new tenants showed us the condition the previous tenants had left behind:
Lawn stripped and replaced with artificial grass without our consent
Nails on walls inside the house
Missing blinds and curtains
Bins left overflowing, which the new tenants had to clean themselves
When we raised this with Chancellors, we were told they “don’t manage the property anymore” — despite the fact that the previous tenancy WAS managed. After weeks of being passed from department to department, we were told the Deposit Replacement Scheme wouldn’t pay anything because more than 30 days had passed. The delay was entirely caused by Chancellors’ internal confusion and lack of ownership. Only one helpful staff member, Kwesi, escalated the issue and we received around £100 — nowhere near the actual cost of the damage.
During the 2025 renewal, we clearly stated we did NOT want DRS and were not charged. Now, during the 2026 renewal, Chancellors have suddenly deducted DRS for 2025 and are demanding “proof” of the agreement — even though their own staff confirmed it at the time.
Trying to reach the property manager has become impossible. No calls returned for over a week, emails ignored despite CC’ing multiple staff. Today, a staff member told us the property manager “doesn’t want to speak to us because we shouted at her.” This is completely false — she has never once returned our calls, so shouting at her would be impossible.
Her email now claims she has “no record” of the DRS agreement and insists we provide proof, while refusing to address the late rent queries or the ongoing service failures.
The service is chaotic, unprofessional, and deeply frustrating. Departments contradict each other, no one takes responsibility, and we are left to deal with the consequences every single time. After years of mismanagement, negligence, and financial errors, we simply want to terminate our contract and move our property elsewhere.
Horrific, from "hiring" contractors that don't deliver and then siding with the contractors, failing to heed instructions, overcharging, failing to release deposits promptly, and treating contracts, agreements and legislation as secondary to their own purposes and policies. Their actions made me never want to rent my property again.
I have formed the opinion that the rental team at Chancellors aim to simply bombard you into submission. BACKGROUND: I made an enquiry about a rental property in Kingston Bagpuise but having undertaken two separate 'drive-bys' concluded that as nice at the property may have been it was not suitable for us due to the noise and bedlam in the road outside. I explained this politely not once but three times to the Chancellors team and still I continued to receive incessant non-stop emails from Abingdon, apparently ignoring my comments and simply trying to get me to register. I have had to be severely brusk to insist that they remove my details as I consider 5 emails in one day to be harassment. So yes, hopelessly disorganised and unprofessional lettings agent.
A very professional, communicative and experienced professional.
I'd recommend her in a heartbeat.
I hope to do more business with her in the future.
1st contact is everything, Most companies try to show prospective customers their good bits and make an effort hide their efficiencies and problems. When the person that answers the phone for the first contact is incompetent, it is not unreasonable to infer that the company itself is aware of it and is okay with it. This should inform prospective customers about whether they should continue the call. I do hope Chancellors read this and take action.
Bunch of crooks. Engage them at you Peril. I will need to employ a lawyer to extricate my property from them.
Laura was extremely efficient and a pleasure to liaise with during our property's recent EICR. No fuss and speedy responses to my queries.
I'll admit my initial experience with Chancelors -Hampstead was not the most positive one. My initial agent had convinced me to accept an offer from a buyer that was - to put it mildly - a chancer. Over the course of 7 months, the buyer dragged out the process citing difficulties in securing a lender (despite the fact that I had initially been informed by my agent that they were a cash buyer) and dropping their offer. Throughout this process, my agent did nothing to negotiate on my behalf and seemed to push for me to simply agree to every drop in price which the buyer requested. After several weeks of zero contact from the agent I was then informed that he had left the company suddenly and that my sale was now being handled by a new agent. And in most circumstances this would be where I would have simply thrown my hands up in despair and given up. Thankfully, the new agent Jamie, apologized for his predecessor dropping the ball and then proceeded to work his hardest in ensuring a good result for me. I'm happy to say that his hard work paid off and he managed to reverse what had previously been a deal on the brink of collapse. I think it's fair to say that without Jamie's efforts I would not be completing today!
I would warn any Landlord against letting through Chancellors or using the Oxfordshire property management team based in Bracknell. The service I have received has been substandard, emails addressing important issues have gone unanswered and although I have repeatedly asked to be referred to a senior manager, all such requests have been ignored. As someone who works in commercial property management, I have experience in a related area and realistic expectations about the service that a residential property management team should offer.
My property was let and managed by Chancellors from 2015 up to the end of July 2026 and the property management service has always been patchy. There seems to be a fast turnover of property managers – suddenly a new name pops up in the inbox stating that they’ll be managing the property from now on – and it’s the luck of the draw whether the current one is efficient, proactive and organised.
In recent years I felt that the calibre of Chancellor’s property management had declined and as a landlord I felt there was little actual ‘management’ or professional guidance on offer. It often felt like the manager was working for the tenant, not the landlord, despite the fact that I was paying for the service. During the last and final tenancy through Chancellors, the local branch in Cowley lost the keys to the property and, due to a lack of effective communication between the tenant and the property manager, my contractor could not gain access to carry out work as arranged. This was after I had asked the property manager for confirmation that the tenant would provide access for the decorator in not one, not two, but THREE separate emails. As a result, Chancellors scrambled to find a replacement contractor who carried out the job to what I felt was a lower standard than my chosen contractor and did not paint inside a wardrobe, an oversight that became an issue that dogged the remainder of the tenancy.
Between the tenant moving in on 22 July 2025 and the beginning of November (less than four months), I received approximately 40 emails from the property manager regarding various issues, despite the fact that I was paying for a fully managed service. In my view, the manager appeared not to have sufficient experience for the role and seemed to receive little managerial support (or was reluctant/too fearful to ask for it). Easy tasks were dealt with fairly promptly but anything more challenging was bounced directly onto the landlord without any professional guidance forthcoming, even when it was requested.
More recently, another property manager repeatedly failed to respond to my emails regarding the end of the tenancy and did not seek guidance from more senior staff despite two requests (in writing) that they do so. An email sent on 16 July and two sent on the 21 July (the last day of the tenancy) went answered until 24 July. Personally, I feel this response time is unacceptable and unprofessional but, unfortunately, it was not atypical.
I felt completely unsupported as a landlord by the Chancellors Property Management team and I believe the last tenancy in particular was mismanaged. In my opinion the service offered very poor value for money and did not result in happy tenants. Not only that, but the general lack of responsiveness and the fact that promises were made but were not carried through (especially a promise that a property manager would visit the property to assess the situation) actually cost me money.
I have now found a new letting agent in Oxford (College and County) and the difference has been remarkable. I have an experienced property manager who has actually visited the property to meet me and to get familiar with the premises. The manager will carry out all inspections personally and build a relationship with both landlord and tenant. I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders and my only regret is that I did not leave Chancellors sooner.
I am very pleased with my experience with Chancellors St Johns Wood. Whilst representing the seller, they have shown a great deal of diligence and care towards me also as a buyer. Luigi and Dean have been attentive and have kept me informed throughout the process, and one can tell there is a lot of knowledge, long-standing client relationships and proactiveness within the team.
The people who work there are unprofessional, the company does not listen, that are only in it to make as much money as they can, people are numbers, in 30 years of renting this is the ABSOLUTE worst agency known to mankind, I highly advise you to see another, this will only bring you grief. I normally never poste a review but I felt I had no choice to protect my fellow humans from this abomination of a company!!
Jamie was fantastic throughout our recent property purchase. He went above and beyond to ensure the transaction was completed, despite the challenges presented by a difficult chain.
Bella was equally impressive, expertly negotiating our offer and helping to finalise the sale.
Both were professional, proactive, and highly supportive throughout the entire process. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone buying or selling a property.
I instructed Chancellors to sell my property after accepting their recommended valuation and marketing strategy. Unfortunately, my experience fell well below the standard I expected from a national estate agency.
The initial valuation appeared optimistic, yet within only a few weeks and after very few viewings I was encouraged to reduce the asking price by around £50,000. This left me questioning whether the original valuation had been properly supported by market evidence.
The marketing strategy also failed to deliver. An Open House event, which had been presented as a key part of the sales approach, attracted only three attendees, and when it failed to generate momentum there appeared to be no meaningful alternative strategy.
My greatest disappointment, however, was the communication. Many emails containing questions and suggestions went unanswered or were only partially addressed. On one occasion, the asking price was reduced without informing me beforehand. I regularly found myself chasing for updates rather than receiving proactive communication.
I also saw little evidence of sustained sales activity once the property had been launched. Viewings gradually dried up, momentum was lost, and the main solution seemed to be further discussion about reducing the price rather than exploring different marketing approaches or targeting new buyers.
After my agreement with Chancellors ended, I instructed another local estate agent. The contrast was immediate: communication became proactive, feedback was prompt and detailed, marketing plans were clearly explained, and I felt informed throughout the process.
To be fair, Chancellors did respond to my formal complaints and acknowledged shortcomings in aspects of their service, apologising for a number of issues. However, my overall experience left me disappointed and without confidence in their ability to manage the sale effectively.
Based on my experience, I would struggle to recommend Chancellors.
