Lucky I had the rolling advert. In the last week of the advert, I completely forgot it was live, and then, out of the blue, the phone rang. The buyer called and bought straight away.

A fast, effective and safe way to sell my car privately…
It has been a very positive experience, selling through AutoTrader, which ended ultimately in selling my vehicle within 4 days of advertising. The process was straight forward. Contact via phone was done through AutoTrader with an automated message stating this was an AutoTrader call. This made me feel safer as a seller as I knew it was a genuine enquiry. I was really impressed. Although you have to pay, it has led to the fast sale of my vehicle. I would highly recommend.

Success following Scammers
Having been approached by two scammers who asked us to pay for reports, saying that if we gave them details of our bank account they would reimburse the cost we met a very lovely gentlemen from Sidcup who came, looked at the car and paid a fair price for it. Please be careful when giving out bank details to "potential buyers"

I can't believe auto trader allow scammers. Be careful as I got caught, after placing your advert you will get an email. It will say, before this check we want you to do a report from Epicvinrecord. It costs £69 and now out of pocket. How can a big company allow this?

Portal for scammers and fraud, paid by you!
As per other reviews, just a portal for scammers to get hold of you and try to defraud you. Really disappointed in Autotrader and lack of ability to prevent scams/ fraud. Needs to improve, as FB marketplace is free and I’ve had no issues with it linked to a profile, rather than paying quite a high sum to receive numerous attempts to get my personal details or ask me to buy a fake inspection report of some kind.
