Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 3,477 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. A general feeling across many customers points to unsatisfactory interactions with the platform's processes and support mechanisms. Many consumers described negative experiences regarding product authenticity and issues related to delivered items matching descriptions. However, some customers also noted issues with handling disputes, where they felt the resolution center was unfair or slow to act on complaints. Conversely, a small portion of people felt customer support interactions were unhelpful, mentioning instances of receiving substandard service or automated responses. Some buyers also reported difficulties with delivery handling, such as items being sent to the wrong addresses or in bad condition.

Untrustworthy company

I’ve been a seller on eBay since 2008 with 100% feedback, as soon as they release money owed to me by realising my funds I will be closing my account and using another platform to buy and sell, customer support is none evident, most things listed are counterfeit, very untrustworthy now, best to stay well clear of eBay altogether!

Becoming such a diabolically cheating…

Becoming such a diabolically cheating company! They keep taking down my listed good unused perfumes, while allowing others to carry on selling their half-used bottles at extortionate prices; They have no Integrity anymore! So careless when trying to report them, which personally I would prefer not to have to do...it's become so unjust and unfair, that I'm not sure I want to carry on doing business with them anymore, such a waste of time aswell! And all that worrying...

Superb company

Superb company, head and shoulders above the the other selling platforms.
I listed a genuine item on Vinted, instant 7 day ban, I appealed provided the evidence for authentication and nothing back from them left me without any business income for 7 days from Vinted sales. Today my wife uploaded several items to eBay for her business, one was removed on suspicion of being counterfiet, she clicked appeal, sent the proof of authenticity and within an hour the appeal was successful and the item was listed. The customer service and tone of communication from eBay was superb, swift and concise. If Vinted worked like this it would be a fantastic platform, for customer service at speed eBay is king.

Disgusting company

Disgusting company. Lost me 11,500 because they decided after 6 years they wanted to verify my bank details but would not let me change my bank details and blocked me from changing my listing so the buyer couldn't buy, i couldn't change it. Just an awful company.

Absolutely disgusted with EBay

Absolutely disgusted with EBay, I recently sold an unworn new without tags Canada Goose jacket but with the receipt and the original box. The jacket had never been worn ever (apart from a 2 second try on by my son who realised it was too big) It went back into the box and then it was sold. An EBay Authenticator stopped the sale as he/she thought it had been worn. Apparently a smell? And a stain that was most definitely not there, how could it be. It had never been worn. Anyway I lost the sale, the promoted fees, and the jacket is coming back to me to start the whole process again, but not with EBay!!! Once the buyer gets his refund I’m closing my account and using Vinted!!!! So so angry!!!

If I could give it no stars I would, sold x3 items for £45, items were delivered to customer, customer stated the items were late so had to source elsewhere, funds were put on hold. This was 3 week ago, complained twice heard nothing back, don’t waste your time, absolute shambles.

Do not trust ebay or the money back…

Do not trust ebay or the money back guarantee, after numerous phone calls and emails it has now been confirmed by ebay that a successful delivery only needs to be by POSTCODE, not by your actual address.

I had two outstanding deliveries from America, both were delivered to a fence somewhere in my postcode and despite notification not being sent for nine hours, I will not be refunded because the delivery company say they have delivered to the postcode.

That delivery company is Evri of course but it started out with DHL who then handed over to Evri once it was in the UK

ebay are effectively giving couriers carte blanche to steal as all they need to do is take a picture anywhere, say it has been delivered by being in the rough area of that postcode and then take it home and you are not covered regardless of the picture being a field or a sewer

I purchased items which were not delivered, contacted eBay who gave me great promises of immediate action.
Just been told "case closed. No refund", absolutely disgusted ,to my mind this is just robbery, how can you rely on this company with this sort of treatment?.
Will now think twice before using them again, disgraceful.

Worst Customer Service Ever — Advisors Constantly Talk Over You!!’

I sold an expensive item to a buyer and unfortunately there was an issue with the delivery. This was through no fault of my own — I sent the item as required, and the problem appears to have occurred while the parcel was in the hands of Evri, where it was either lost or damaged.

Despite this, I feel that eBay has penalised me as the seller by restricting my account. I have been given no clear explanation as to what I personally did wrong to justify this restriction.

I contacted eBay because I simply wanted someone to explain what was happening and help me resolve it. Instead, I spoke to Liam, who I found rude, unhelpful and constantly talked over me rather than listening to my concerns.

I later spoke to James, hoping I would finally receive some proper assistance. Unfortunately, I found him rude and unhelpful too, and the call ended with him hanging up on me.

Neither James nor Liam showed any empathy towards the situation, and in my experience neither demonstrated the level of people skills or customer service skills I would expect from representatives dealing with frustrated customers.

I have genuinely tried to resolve this matter, yet I have been left feeling as though I am being punished for a courier problem that was outside my control.

eBay’s customer service has seriously gone downhill. Sellers deserve proper support, clear explanations and to be treated with basic courtesy when something goes wrong — particularly when the seller has done everything they were supposed to do.

A thoroughly frustrating and disappointing experience.

No such thing as advisors listening to customers anymore without being interrupted.

And I can see have bad ratings on here so that says it all!

Yet again, I feel ripped off by ebay and they do not call when they say!

I have been a member of ebay for 22 years. I have bought thousands of things, and sold 200-300 things. Ebay is forever changing its rules. What I do feel is that most of the rule changes are about benefiting ebay itself, specifically it making more and more profit. They give excuses like it's for 'security'.
I am in the process of selling 'personal equipment' for disabled people, like commodes or wheelchairs. I have been selling things using classified adverts in the local newspaper for years. The principle is easy. You list something and give your phone number. If the person who sees the listing is interested they ring up and ask questions. Then you mutually agree a viewing. If both parties are happy you agree a sale. You get the money. The buyer gets the item. Easy. However ebay make this a very complicated process because they want to make a profit on every aspect of the transaction. So, first of all, I sell an item which due to its nature there are two issues. a) The buyer needs to see it, and try it. b) If they want it, I want cash. When ebay started, they did allow 'cash on collection'. However now when you prepare a listing, they tell you you are not allowed to do this. They do not support 'cash on collection. Also, in the normal way, you are not allowed to exchange phone numbers. So arranging a viewing is between difficult and impossible. On this occasion, the buyer looked at my other items, and got my number from a car sale I am also conducting on ebay. So we arranged a viewing. The buyer came. They wanted it. The absurd thing is they are not allowed to give me cash. So they have to pay ebay. The buyer immediately loses the money from their account. Also, they do not just pay my price, they pay 'insurance' which is just a rip off because if they are stood there and are collecting in person, there is no need for insurance. So, they pay £209, but I only get £199. But I do not get the £199. Ebay takes a cut from that aswell. Then I find I cant have the money unless I get a 6 digit code off the buyer. Both me and the buyer are educated people and experienced people. Neither of us knew about this. So the buy drove off, and they have paid. However, I have nothing. No chair and no money. So I had to call ebay to find out what is going on. This wasted 45 minutes of my life. There is no 'value added' to me in this process. Meanwhile ebay is sitting on my money and keeping it. So I had to contact my seller again, and they had to find the 6 digit code and send it to me. There is no value added to me or the seller. However this facilitates ebay getting £200 of mine and the buyers money in its bank account. I am absolutely furious about this. About an hour ago, I asked for an agent call. I was told 29 minutes. They did not call. Another wasted 30 minutes. Now I have asked for a call again. Now it is 31 minutes. Then if they do call, I have to explain myself. I suspect the agent will make up some excuse as to why ebay sits on my money. I have things I want to buy on ebay, but despite selling a £200 item, my ebay balance is zero. This is a rip-off. I literally have £thousands of pounds worth of items to sell relating to my parents estate. I am asking myself, do I want to be treated like this by ebay? If a person did business like that and I had the choice to buy off somebody else, I would. In terms of buying things, ebay works for me. In terms of me selling, ebay works for ebay. I still have no money and no item and no ebay balance. This is borderline business practice. It does make me angry. From the moment the buyer agreed to buy this thing, I have so far wasted nearly 2 hours of my life, and I still have not even had my call, let alone the money. As I say, if a person treated me like this not only would I be angry, I would use rude language. There is a reason all languages have rude words. It is ro express your displeasure when someone insults you or mistreats you. I am seriously considering taking down all of my sales and listing them either on gumtree, or maybe just giving the lower value items away. It just is such a miserable process being a seller, and I feel as though I am being had by ebay. It is not a pleasurable experience. It is the opposite. In the first call I had about this, the agent told me all this is for 'security'. That is rubbish. I was selling things the old fashioned way nearly 60 years ago and not once did I have a problem. In fact when ebay started I did not have a problem, but I do now. If this is the pain from one sale, when I have literally hundreds of items to sell which are best suited to cash on personal collection, why would I use ebay? I do not normally type messages like this, but make no mistake, I am very very angry, and if an individual did this I would never deal with them ever again.

eBay customer service is shocking

I have been buying regularly on eBay for years, but my latest experience has been incredibly frustrating.

I purchased an item from a seller who never posted it and has completely ignored all of my messages. You would reasonably think that, because eBay holds the payment, getting your money back would be straightforward. Apparently not.

Trying to resolve the issue through eBay’s online help has been an absolute nightmare. The help system is unhelpful, and I have now been told that it could take up to 30 days to get my money back — assuming everything goes smoothly.

Why should a customer have to wait potentially 30 days to recover money for an item that was never even dispatched?

What is even more concerning is the number of similar negative reviews here on Trustpilot. eBay appears to have little or no interest in responding to its customers, and the lack of responses to many of these reviews speaks volumes.

I use eBay regularly, but experiences like this make you seriously question whether it is worth continuing to do so.

eBay needs to remember that customers are the reason the platform exists. Customer service should not be this difficult.

EBay

EBay. Sometimes you find great products for a very good reasonable prices but the customer service is bad and poorly. They don’t get responsable for a lost delivery and if their policy is not fake items if you bought one and when it gets worse, you try to resell it because you haven’t used they accuse you it has been reported for the buyer who bought an item purchased in their business of selling an unauthentic product without accepting any responsibility for what those facts has caused you to your image as a seller and to your pocket for purchasing it.
Except for any sellers based of my experience like Japanese or British sometimes is very disappointing as the delivery is far to high or the quality from where is coming it can result risky.

Said that, if you want to sell great stuff is a great web to do so.

That is on my experience. Thanks

I am an honest seller and I feel…

Martin Tomko to0365 . I am an honest seller and I feel absolutely cheated by eBay. A buyer purchased my amplifier twice and cancelled the order both times due to their own carelessness.First mistake: The buyer did not read the description stating the item was "Collection Only". Since they could not pick it up, the order had to be cancelled.Second mistake: The same buyer bought it again, but then realized they would have to pay import duties/customs taxes. They refused to pay and asked to cancel again. In both cases, I refunded the buyer immediately. The buyer clearly admitted these mistakes in our eBay message history.Despite this, eBay's automated system hit my account with two transaction defects and restricted my selling privileges. When I contacted customer support, they completely dismissed me, claiming that "it is an automatic system and nothing can be done."This is a joke. eBay is punishing an innocent seller instead of the careless buyer. Their system is broken and their customer service is useless.
