Switched in April from octopus after a better export rate
From the start this company has needed to be chased for bills explanations as to why average weekly bill of £3 a day shot up to average £10.50 a day for a 4 week period back down for last 3 weeks to £3 a day , same people same house same heatwave some customer service operators do what they say most don’t
Today got oh yes your bill was produced but withheld !!! Also export rates only credited on account 3 times a year we have solar and batteries and should be using so little but have no idea
Apologies but if you go ahead with this company accept your blood pressure to rise

Absolutely shocking

Absolutely shocking – the worst billing and complaint-handling experience I have ever encountered.

E.ON’s billing appears to be all over the place, but what has been even worse is trying to get a straight answer from their customer service and complaints team.

My account has moved from debit, to a substantial credit, and then back to a substantial debit following various adjustments and rebilling. Despite raising an official complaint, I simply cannot obtain a clear, itemised explanation showing exactly how these figures have been calculated.

I have been going round in circles for months. I ask specific questions and repeatedly receive generic responses that either fail to answer them or simply tell me that somebody is reviewing the account. I have now dealt with several different people, with seemingly no continuity or ownership of the complaint.

Most concerning of all, I have asked on at least five separate occasions for a deadlock letter so that I can take the matter to the Energy Ombudsman. Despite this, I still haven’t received one.

I have continued making payments in good faith throughout because I am not disputing that I should pay for the energy I have used. What I am disputing is E.ON’s apparent inability to clearly demonstrate how the balance they say I owe has actually been calculated.

Months later, I am still asking the same basic questions and still waiting for proper answers.

An utterly exhausting and unacceptable way to treat a customer who has done nothing more than ask for a transparent and accurate explanation of their bill.

Hate this company !!!!

Hate this company !!!!! they are such an absolute rip off. Worse customer service there is, they sound like robots and they don't live in this country so they have no idea what is happening. They lie and make random thing up, so keep an eye out for that.

They have attempted to take £800 out of account on one occasion for a 1 month bill !!!

They keep doing the same thing.. I had to stop my direct debit. And constantly having to call them to solve these issues.

I will never use them again. The British government really need to do more to protect us from such demonic capitalisms.

I have now closed my account and would never use them again. I just feel for the elderly and vulnerable people that have to deal with them. Extremely stressful and really mess with your mental health.

Smart meters installed two weeks ago…

Smart meters installed two weeks ago and the electric is generating daily bills so don’t know where I am
Messaged WhatsApp who say they are dealing it . After a week I was told it had been resolved but they still keep coming every day they keep reversing the charges and then the next day daily reading puts the charge back on my account
I raised a complaint and have heard nothing despite being promised a call last Wednesday
I wish I hadn’t had the smart meters installed now

Worst company EVER!

I have had a LOT of problems with this company. I started with a prepaid meter which was not viable for an elderly person. Then I HAD to have the meters changed as they were very old. This took several months with engineers not turning up and many other problems. When that finally got done I was persuaded to change to a fixed DD plan. They were decent enough to give me some compensation for my trouble, which is why I give them 1 more star. But now I am getting a lot of very confusing computer generated statements that make little sense. There was a very kind woman, Stephanie, in customer service, who helped me through many of the frustrations of this whole nightmare but now the smart device does not seem to be working and I am being gaslit by this awful company yet again!! and also being told that I cannot get decent statements (like I did with a previous provider - octupus) as this was all computer generated. I strongly suggest that this dreadful company - E-ON - update their statement and billing delivery to something that makes more sense than what portrays as a 'dogs breakfast'. I would never recommend this company to anyone. The only reason I stayed was because of Stephanie.

Switch delayed for 4 months and counting. Illegal behaviour forcing me to stay with Eon

Nearly 4 months and counting: E.ON Next blocked my switch to another supplier. Context - I requested switch to Fuse for gas and energy.

My electricity switched to Fuse Energy without a hitch. The gas switch has been stuck for over 4 months and counting, and it's entirely down to E.ON Next's failure to sort out their own data.

Fuse told me the switch was cancelled because my meter was showing as "de-energised" on the national database — something only E.ON Next, as my current supplier, can fix. When I raised it, E.ON Next flatly denied any switch request existed.

Weeks later they confirmed in writing that my gas supply was "live" — directly contradicting the reason given for the block — but never actually corrected the record or contacted Fuse to unblock things.

Since then I've made over 20 contacts by phone and ~100 emails, been asked to submit a meter photo six times because the first one was "never received," and spent weeks acting as the go-between relaying messages between E.ON Next and Fuse — a job that should never have fallen to the customer.

I continue to be harassed and asked the same details multiple times; and every time I pass on the details. When I ask for an update, I'm told "EON is working on it" but with no sense of what is happening, why the switch is delayed, and when I can expect it to be resolved.

This behaviour is frankly illegal and unacceptable. These actions are forcing me to stay with a provider that I've already requested to leave. It is anticompetitive.

Avoid if you value your time.

Left us with no lights and an unsafe consumer unit, didn't care

Fitted a smart meter and left us with a fault on consumer unit resulting in no lights. Hard to get hold of (45 minute wait) South African call centre said get an electrician! Raised a complaint with a poor outcome. They are not interested, and didn't even know what contractor fitted the meter. The technician was annonymous with a Ganymede workforce van (which is an emplyment agency). Shocking service and abdication of responsibility. Ombudsman and solicitor next call.

Repeatedly promised a refund, repeatedly cancelled it - absolute shambles

I left E.ON Next on 9 June with over £300 credit on my account. Since then, dealing with them has been a complete farce.

First, they confirmed I had £312.79 credit. Then they told me the full refund had been processed and would arrive within 10 working days. It didn’t.

When I chased it, I was told the refund had been rejected because my balance had dropped to £221.55 after final charges. Fine — except they then confirmed that a new refund for £221.55 had been raised. That didn’t arrive either.

I chased again and was told that refund had also been cancelled because they had not received the correct Change of Supply reading. This was after they had already issued bills up to the end of my supply, confirmed the credit, and credited me £40 under GSoP for failing to refund the final credit within 10 working days.

Their own bill now shows £261.55 credit, yet they still will not release it.

To make matters worse, they asked me to provide the opening readings from 9 June. I sent them clear evidence from my new supplier showing both the gas and electricity opening readings, meter serial numbers, and the date of submission. I am now waiting yet again while my money remains stuck on a closed account.

The communication has been contradictory from start to finish. Different staff members have told me the refund was processed, rejected, raised again, cancelled again, and now blocked by missing readings. At no point has anyone taken ownership of the issue or explained clearly what they are actually doing to resolve it.

E.ON Next was perfectly capable of taking direct debits from me, but returning money they admit they owe has been an exhausting battle.

I would not recommend them. The billing process is chaotic, the customer service is inconsistent, and their refund handling has been unacceptable. I am now escalating the matter formally and preparing to take it to the Energy Ombudsman.

Appalling communications …

My gas and electricity direct debit has just increased by over 20%.
Tried contacting E.ON to discuss further but when I called the only number they give I see a message stating “This company is not receiving calls. Try texting them instead”.
I sent an email to them and the reply was they can assure me I can discuss my issues with a member of staff and gave the same number as I was using.
I can only assume that I am dealing with an AI generating robot and they are classing this as a member of staff.
A shambolic way to run a company! I have been with E.ON for many years and feel I have no choice but to seek another provider as I’ve lost all trust in the way they conduct themselves.

worse company I've ever delt with.
Bully's and incompetent.
Impossible to talk to anyone more senior.
You think you have sorted out a problem, only for it to not be sorted out as they told you they would, spend hours on the phone, they promised to return calls and don't.
Lie to you when you phone.
Stay clear.

We had an updated smart meter fitted, after which the engineer took away our excellent In house display and replaced it with what I consider to be an inferior product. No consultation or explanation. Prolonged correspondence with the company has not resulted in the replacement with a better quality, easier to operate, unit. Very unhappy with the service and now looking to change supplier.

Had solar panels and batteries…

Had solar panels and batteries installed today by E.ON, and I have to say the three installers were absolutely fantastic. They were professional, very helpful, and left everything clean and tidy when they finished.

Overall, I'm extremely happy that I chose E.ON. Thank you for providing such excellent service from start to finish. I would highly recommend your company.

Use a different company, these are awful

Horrendous, awful, lying deceitful staff. Worse experience ever trying to deal with them. I hadn't even agreed to swop to them.
Formal complaint going to be made. How I don't hold out much hope of it actually getting anywhere. Staff on phone line down care, certainly not bothered about losing business, getting to talk to someone senior is impossible.
Going to change provider back to who I was originally with, being as i never actually agreed to them being my provider.
Stay as far away from this company as possible

Appalling customer service

I just called customer services a few minutes ago.

I am moving house to a place where the current supplier is Eon. I do not currently pay the energy bills where I live. My ex estranged husband does. He doesn't live here and we are in the middle of divorce. We don't have a good relationship. I asked the advisor, to talk me through prices of energy as I am comparing prices to other suppliers. I also wanted to talk about EV chargers.

I was told to look online and put my current usage details into the website. I explained that I don't have those details because of my situation. He was rude and insistent, not listening to me. It was clear he did not want to talk to me. I asked how he helps people in my position and he said I need to get the details off my ex, or get him to do it. I said that I cannot do this and I would need him just to advise me on how much I am likely to pay as a single person, moving to a small house. He was not prepared to talk to me about this.

I then asked him to pass me to another advisor and he couldn't do this either. He told me to "end the call and start again".

Awful customer service and this advisor seriously needs some training.

STAY AWAY

Terrible terrible company if I was you I wouldn’t bother going with these, they rob the living lights out of you apparently in a small 3 bedroom house I’ve used £600+ in 1 month we’ve tried numerous times to contact eon and they all seem to work from home and can not get a manager to the phone so your concerns are never sorted out they said my meter isn’t reading correctly and they need to sort it out but instead of sending an engineer they send you more bills and then when you ring again they try and say your meter is reading correctly when clearly it isn’t, the stress from this company is not worth it, save the hassle and go elsewhere.

Failure to allocate a payment correctly and passing a debt which doesn’t exist to a debt recovery company

Eon took my payment for my deceased mother’s final account when I sold her property. Six weeks later, after no further communication from them, a debt recovery company started to try to contact me. Despite multiple emails and phone calls (in one of the latter they confirmed they received the payment) they have refused to inform the debt collection agency there is no debt and refused to correctly allocate the payment they have.
