I had posted kittens. I had only had a few litters on there before. All my kittens have gone too amazingly homes and very loved. All the owners I have a lovely bond with and they share their lovely photos of my kittens and how they are getting on. I love too have that bond with thw owners too see how the kittens are growing and settling. I am not a animal abuser. I care for my kittens. My girl cat had one litter, my second girl had another. My cat never had more then two litter's. They were both of my girls. Gumtree is so fast too take my money £15 top post my ad. They removed my ad and stated that i could not post anymore kittens under their charity. Maybe they should look properly and see i had posted the mothers with their sweet baby's and they were totally different mothers with their own litter!! They refused too give my money back when they removed my ad. I had not had anyone come forward too buy my kittens because they removed it , so how do they think it is acceptable too take my money when I did not get the services. I love my animals. I love my kittens, if anyone is against animal abuse and cruelty , that would be me!! They made me feel like a animal abuser while taking my money i have made a claim through PayPal. I would avoid using this site. Never again

Unfortunately, over the last one or two years, Gumtree has changed so much that using the site has become almost pointless.
One of the biggest problems is that phone numbers have been removed from listings. As a result, it's much harder for genuine buyers and sellers to get in touch, and I receive far fewer enquiries than before.
Another major issue is the photo viewer. Very often, listing photos don't open at all, or they load only occasionally. This makes browsing frustrating and wastes a lot of time.
Gumtree used to be simple, reliable, and effective. Now it feels overcomplicated and much less useful than it once was.
Please bring back the old Gumtree – where everything was straightforward and, most importantly, actually worked!

The only success I’ve had with Gumtree concerns an item I gave away for free at no cost.

The rest the times just bored aggravating people who simply keep sending “ is it still available “ queries with no interest in an item or following up an item for sale.

Basically don’t waste your time, use eBay instead, who at lest can monitor the messages and kick arse if people continue to waste sellers time

I posted 12 adverts as i was clesring stuff i didnt nrrd .. EVERY ONE was taken down for " breaking rules" been using Gumtree for about 10 years and never had this nonsense before . They are losing customers hand over fist and i hope they go bankrpt. Dispicable

1.6 out 5.0 stars, that says it all. My son tried to sell his BMW 316 about two years ago but after a few days retracted the advert as he kept using the car. My son tried to sell it again this July 2026 and his advert was refused. I tried to sell on my email address and got the same result. From their Q&A I found out that you can only advertise an item once. This is ridiculous, if my son sold the car to someone else, that someone else cannot sell it on Gumshit, I mean Gumtree. You need to revise this as you are losing a lot of adverts.

DO NOT BOTHER DOWNLOADING OR USING TO SELL!!! Every single time you try to sell any item on this useless website/app, It will only be removed for some absurd reason, Ive never been more frustrated with a selling platform, Your ad will just be removed for no reason at all even when there is absolutely nothing wrong with any ad you try to put up, This website should be removed from the Internet because its a giant waste of time and clearly has 0 functionality. the developers should be ashamed

I posted an ad with them and chose the paid option. I copied an ad I had previously run with them for two years and placed it in the same category.
They took my money and then removed the ad, claiming I had selected the wrong category. They also stated that I was not entitled to a refund.
So, I lost the money I paid simply because of a category selection error—even though that category had been correct for the past two years.
I think this is a SCAM!

Used to use his platform and then all of a sudden they said all my adverts were breaking their rules? Tried selling a chair and chest of drawers so don’t know what rules that breaks! posted it several times for it to be removed each time. customer service said to set up another account which I did still have the same issue then they said to delete the old accounts and try and set up another which I did and still no luck - absolutely outdated crap platform for today’s technology!

Gumtree is cruel they let users even scammers put illegal feedback in and do not delete it. Giving scammers five stars. Unless they take me down I will still be on Gumtree as I have been there for years but certainly I will make it a better place! There are lots of reasons too many to count sometimes about problems but no excuse for no kindness!

I wish it was possible to give no stars because the way they have treated me is completely disgusting. I have been in the process of clearing my mum’s house after she has gone into a care home. I am trying to sell some of her furniture and put some of it onto the site as free uplift so that other people get the benefit of her furniture or I managed to get some money to pay towards her care. I put some Ads up a few days ago and I have in the past been able to use gumtree very successfully but this time my adverts were taken down and I have had my account blocked. They do not give an explanation and this is very stressful to me. Their customer service is absolutely atrocious and I urge other potential users of gumtree to consider other platforms such as eBay or possibly your local Freecycle platforms. I know this might just sound like sour grapes from one bad experience but I needed them to help me and they haven’t come through and not only that they have created a very stressful situation for me and not explained themselves at all so that I might understand the infringement that I have been guilty of and that I have an opportunity to right whatever is wrong with what I have done with my adverts. Shame on you Gumtree!

I have been trying to sell 2 guitars on this useless selling platform for ages got a few emails at first but all complete time wasters one even wanting it for charity shop prices I have been advertising my guitars for 5 months now and still haven't sold any of them so I just deleted my adverts yesterday I only wanted to see if I could get some cash as I have bought several guitars in the past few years from my local music store I was just trying to downsize my collection and was going to put the money back into my savings I am not that desperate anyway so I don't really care to be honest I did see this Trustpilot review a few months ago and I heard that they were scammers I thought I would give them another chance but they are absolutely useless and I also wish I could give them no stars do not advertise on this platform

Gumtree charged me £7.99 today to boost my advert that had been on for a week. Then they declined my advert
Went onto live chat & they wont refund me & disconnected me from chat
They are scammers doing this to a lot of people !

I posted a simple AD to sell my car. The description was also very simple. The AD was created but removed stating "Breaking posting rules" No email explanation was given and it was impossible to edit the AD. I have had to created a Helpdesk ticket as the only form of communication available. Terrible Customer Service.

We'd been using Gumtree for around two years without any issues. Then one of our ads was suddenly suspended, with no explanation and no notification that would have been useful.
We contacted customer support hoping to get some clarity. What we got instead was a suggestion to read their terms and conditions. That's not an answer — that's a deflection. If there was a specific reason our ad was flagged or removed, their support team either didn't know what it was or wasn't willing to tell us. Neither option is particularly reassuring.
The frustrating part isn't even the suspension itself. Platforms have rules, and sometimes things get caught incorrectly — that's understandable. What's not acceptable is a customer support team that can't tell you what rule was broken or why the decision was made. If you can't explain a decision to the person it affects, the process behind that decision needs looking at.
Two years of using the platform without a single issue, and the first time we needed actual support, there was none. We've since moved our listings elsewhere and haven't looked back.
If Gumtree wants to retain business accounts, being able to explain enforcement decisions to the businesses affected by them would be a reasonable place to start. As it stands, we wouldn't recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable platform to list their business.

Made the mistake of trying to sell items on here before moving house... My ads kept getting pulled for no reason - and I'd paid for them to be "boosted" - and when I asked for a refund they refused.

And when I did finally manage to sell something there's no indication of who bought it or what to do - just a stupid link to your phone that once clicked away is gone forever.

Avoid Gumtree – My Experience
I would advise tradespeople to be very cautious before signing up for this service.
I was initially told this was a subscription service costing £150 per month and that I could cancel at any time.
When I first received a call from a Gumtree representative, Vykes, I was told that my business would be promoted through leaflets and that my advert would appear on the first page. Neither of these promises matched my experience. My advert was placed towards the back instead. When I raised this with Vykes' manager, I was simply told that Vykes had left the company.
I am now being charged £180 per month and have been placed on a contract that I do not believe was clearly explained to me. On top of that, my account has been deactivated, meaning I cannot generate any work through the service, yet I am still being charged every month.
Even when my account was active, I received very few enquiries. I raised this issue with Vykes' manager, Tom Burke, but no effective action was taken to address my concerns.
From the beginning, I believe Gumtree's representatives were not transparent about the terms of the agreement and that I was misled into signing up. I believe it is unfair to continue charging me for a service that I cannot use while my account remains deactivated.
To make matters worse, my account has been passed to debt collection, despite my ongoing concerns. My emails and phone calls have largely gone unanswered, and I have been unable to get meaningful assistance.
This has been a very disappointing experience, and I would encourage other tradespeople to carefully read all terms and conditions, obtain everything in writing, and fully understand any contract before agreeing to this service.

Not possible to give less than one star. Posted ad stating collection only from Southampton UK giving postcode ( I have used gumtree successfully before) gumtree posted it as eligible for delivery so instantly my phone started pinging with hundreds of messages that I couldn't read or find on the site. Then I received an e mail telling me it had been sold to someone in Canada! The only way I could stop the constant incoming message pings still couldn't read them was to delete my account. Never using them again they're quick enough to take money but never refund it. Waste of time and had to reboot phone

When browsing the website, it does not work properly. The advert photos do not load, so the products cannot be seen. This happens regardless of the device I use or the location I am in.

Their technical support advised me to clear my cache and cookies, but that did not resolve the issue. Given that the problem occurs across multiple devices and locations, it is clearly not on my end. It appears to be an issue with Gumtree website, yet there seems to be little interest in investigating or resolving it.

Whoever decided that the customer is not allowed to use their own wording for their advert needs to be dismissed out their job role immediately. So that's why mine was deleted. WHO ARE THESE People and why are they destroying platforms like this with AI garbage. Didn't even get a reply from the so called customer service and was just ignored, I only asked why my advert was taken down. What are earth are all these employees that work for Gumtree actually doing in their job role if AI is doing everything for them. So many businesses reputations going down the toilet because of it and they all just sit back and think it's going to get better 🤣🤣

Signed up, posted a few ads, and my account was blocked for no apparent reason. They were quick to take my money but refuse to refund it until the account is unlocked, which can take up to four working days.

So now my money is tied up and my time spent listing is wasted. The whole point of signing up was to sell things fast, but ironically it'll take longer than I have time for.
