Disappointingly slow delivery

Good quality strap. However, more than 2 weeks delivery time is not great. Missed my son's birthday.
Also, had an email stating that item was still in my basket and I needed to complete the purchase. Consequently ended up with two.

AVOID THIS COMPANY

Terrible service, Alexander Green very rude, terrible customer service, waited 3 weeks for order that said it would be 3 days, had to pay TWICE for postage as I needed my item!
Do a bit of research before buying from this company, I wish I had!
UPDATE - Alex Green had the audacity to phone me after I left this review expecting to intimidate me! I’ve now contacted trading standards.
UPDATE 2 - Alex Green now threatening me with legal action as i said i would find out his business location to add to my report to trading standards if he called my number again!

Gary did not pay twice for postage - he paid once, then his first payment was deducted from the upgraded service he requested.

Royal Mail was exceptionally delayed during the Christmas period (as per usual) leading to the long lead time.

In regard to the 'Update' posted - he was phoned so that the tracking number of the second shipment could be provided. As a phone call shortly after Royal Mail's end of day on the following working day would suggest. Gary decided instead of listening to the shipment update he would instead threaten violence with 'If you phone this number again, I'll find out where you are'. He's been given the opportunity to retract his statement, but has decided to deny threatening behaviour (on a recorded line).

False Advertising, Wrong Parts

I decided on “Vintage style PAF humbucker build kit” with alnico 3 magnets. The finish of the magnets was not clear on the kit product page in either the images or the description. I went to the page where magnets can be bought separately, unfortunately the description did not provide any information. I clicked on “Roughcast alnico 3” and could see from the image that the finish was bumpy and rough, not machined..
In other words, they were advertised as not machined in any way.
Unfortunately Trust Pilot does not allow images.

Sometime between 07/08/2025 and 14/09/2025
I received the roughcast alnico 3 magnets.
As a qualified engineer with decades of experience I immediately recognised the arcing witness marks all over the magnet indicating it had been heavily machined to achieve a smooth flat finish. The surface is shiny in good light, not what I ordered. As the baseplates from “Vintage style PAF humbucker build kit” had short legs which provided little to no adjustment (no warning for that) I decided to write it off and order a different kit.

This sets the precedent for his failure to deliver the correct ordered products, create work for his customers and spark confusion.

I email Alex Green a couple of times confused as to what is wrong with my order. By now I have started making my pickups and amongst the rest of my guitar project it is difficult to keep track due to the confusion caused by Alex greens mistake.

This indicates my parts still haven’t been sent and Alex Green has now created some work for me to do. I promptly post the parts.

Curious, I order a roughcast alnico 5 humbucker magnet for £7.80 (£126.80 spent in total)

The roughcast alnico 5 magnet arrives.

In contrast with the roughcast alnico 3, the roughcast alnico 5, IS as advertised in the image (the only indication provided), with a rough uneven surface which has not been machined.
I photograph them side by side and email Alex green.
“How come the alnico 3 roughcast is machined but the alnico 5 roughcast is clearly sandcast?” adding that all other sellers listing roughcast magnets show them with rough uneven finishes. I then added a photo from one of Alegrees listings clearly showing the roughcast alnico 3 as rough, uneven and not machined.

Note – this statement is not on any of the product pages. Alex Green has admitted to falsely advertising this product and that the product does in fact "vary" even though they are not advertised as varying depending on supplier.

I.e. rough cast = not machined. They had clearly been machined so by your own definition they are not rough cast. That was hidden from me on the item page.
Refunding me partially does not entitle you to demand my silence. You should never refund someone if you do not believe you are legally obligated to. ”

Simon did not receive polished magnets. He was expecting sandcast magnets when purchasing roughcast magnets. His assertions are purely symptomatic of his ignorance about magnet finishes.

Roughcast is an umbrella descriptor for magnets that are not fully polished up to a mirror shine. Some are machined with a rough surface, but not brought to a shiny finish; some are sandcast with an overtly bumpy surface. Some of our roughcast magnets are sandcast, some are not, we have multiple suppliers and their processes differ.

We sell under the 'roughcast' name so as to not overstate the 'bumpiness' of the surface.

All the above was stated to Simon, explaining that his understanding of roughcast was incorrect, and therefore his expectation was - but no problem - we'd just issue a full refund for the magnet and he can purchase sandcast magnets from a shop that has them in stock as a good will gesture, despite his exceptionally insulting (and legally defamatory) insistence that we are criminally and fraudulently misrepresenting our wares.

A full refund for the item in contention was not a sufficient enough resolution for Simon. When he received it, along with a request to refrain from accusing us for criminality, he continued to do so. There was no 'stock issues' as Simon is referring to - this was never stated nor implied at any point. He received exactly what he was supposed to at the start.

In line with legislative guidelines, we are obliged to protect our employees from malicious people such as Simon that willingly inflict verbal harm. We take a zero tolerance policy to people who are aggressive, abusive or defamatory (Simon being guilty of all three of the above). For this reason, he was blacklisted from our shop.

Following his realisation that his behaviour had consequences, Simon initiated a Data Subject Access Request in spite. I suspect he's tried to inconvenience us as much as possible as revenge for declining his order. Presumably he's realised we use software that can fulfil a DSAR with a single button click, and it was not nearly as inconvenient for us as he had hoped. I expect his anger over this has prompted his negative review above.

Excellent quality. Competitive pricing.

Genuinely impressed by the quality vs. the price of the product supplied, compared with other similar offerings online.
However, since my previous experience with Alegree is of a supplier offering really excellent product quality, coupled with highly competitive pricing, I should not have been surprised!

When ordering from Europe you're…

When ordering from Europe you're suddenly being confronted with 50% import taxes. It takes 2 weeks to manufacture and another 2 weeks to send it over to the next country at only 100 miles distance. That's a month to eventually be confronted with a much greater cost than ever mentioned. Can't say anything about the product itself, still haven't got it. (Underneath is not true. I payed 39 euro on a product of around 70, custom and taxes. I payed all the same day I received the letter, not a week after. After payment there are still more waiting days. I placed the order beginning of november, I will receive the package in december. The information you put here is in reality incorrect. You are trying to discredit my credibility, which is just evil and certainly not the customers want to be treated. The only thing you have to do is to make it clear that EU customers will be charged import taxes and customs costs, but you don't to lure more customers in. You manage to find all information about my shipment but you can't inform customers about what is going to happen ? Feels deliberately malevolent to me. Although it may vary, all of Europe is going to pay, which not even happens when ordering from chinese businesses. To my opinion it's the duty of the seller that sells and sends international to inform his customers of what is going to happen. The taxes are not only the responsibility of the receiving country alone, also UK has refused to make any trade connections with Europe. It's a shared responsibility by all parties. This salesman basically tells you, the customer, that he doesn't have to give you any information. This salesman says the customer has to know about international sales, not the salesman. Seems like the other way around to me. What kind of a customer service is this anyway? Trustpilot asked me for my opinion so I give it)

We can see the import tax you paid. You paid 18.14 Euro (approximately £16) on a £69 transaction. This works out to be about 23%. 21% standard Belgium VAT, 2% duty payment.

We have not charged you tax on your purchase (you purchased for 20% lower price than UK customers), the difference is made up at your border. This is a charge by the Belgium Government on you. We tell them the value of the goods, and what they choose to do with that information is between them and you.

It is your duty when purchasing from outside the EU to calculate how much your landed price will be.

Our 2 week build time was clearly communicated to you prior to purchase. Tracking shows you took 1 week after Bpost requesting payment of import charges to pay them. This is the cause for your long transit time.
