Worst Business practice

I live in Canada and I bought an air fryer from bestbuy back then and there was an recall, instead of a refund, bestbuy issued me a gift card. When I tried to use the gift card, it had zero balance. I called bestbuy toll free number and the customer service rep was able to indicate someone redeem the gift card online from a country I don't live in. They acknowledge the gift card was stole and ensured me that I will get my balance back and asked me to call the Canadian line to get that resolved. When I called the Canadian line, the rep on the phone told me there is nothing they can do and refuse to do anything at all. She told me to call the police because it's not their responsibility. This is the worst business, if you issue a refund to my credit card from the recall I would not have to deal with all this, not only I did not get a refund from the recall, I had to spend hours talking to customer rep only to be told to call the police at the end. I will never buy anything from this business again and will for sure share this story online.

BE WARE of best buy.ca

I ordered a computer from best buy.ca - the next day, after my credit card was charged I received an email stating that the computer I ordered is not available. They offered me a different model instead, which I didn’t want - no apologies, no offer to compensate their mistake, just a rude matter of fact attitude. No business should be charging you for an item they don’t even have let alone providing the option to purchase it. Unfortunately this has set me back on finding a computer which I need urgently. Sooooo frustrating!

Bought a mac on their marketplace web platform. They reply saying they did not have the one i ordered and try to give me a "Upgraded"mac for the same price but 2020 M1 Pro chip when The pro chip only came out in 2021....The dude who answered never touch a mac of his life ...pure incompetence

Sent me a severely damaged item

Sent me a severely damaged item. Even the box is badly damaged. Nearest store is over 300KM away. They said Purolator will come get the item with a box and nothing has happened. Constant excuses and promises not being at all upheld.

Do not waste time and money on the Best…

Do not waste time and money on the Best Buy marketplace. I recently purchased through marketplace with a company called Matressdirekt. The company seems to be a fraudulent company trying to sell garbage quality furniture. I purchased 4 recliners and they sent me 2, as I asked for the other 2 they told me the 4 were delivered where it was obvious that they delivered only 2 chairs. It took me over a month to get these guys to admit they only shipped 2 out and Best Buy is not any help in such a situation. I wasted so much time to go against these guys to get them to admit they did not send 4 chairs, I am still dealing with them because one of the chairs they sent me was damaged as well. Do yourself a favour and avoid the marketplace.

Best Buy's Cancellation Processing Time

Best Buy's cancellation process is completely unacceptable. Ordered a TV and was told at the time that they were on back order everywhere and it would take roughly 45 days to get it so I went ahead with the order because I did not want to loose out on the deal. I found out a few days later through a friend that Visions had the same TV with the same deal and I could get it in a couple of weeks so I called Best Buy to cancel the order. After speaking with several different people at Best Buy I was told that it would take more than 10 business days (two weeks or more) to process my request. I was given the excuse that it is a busy time of the year, and here I thought the new year was typically slower but regardless the consumer should not have to wait that long because they don't have enough staff to deal with the volume. Bottom line is that their process is completely unsatisfactory and I will never purchase another item from them again.

The worst customer service I have ever seen

My item was stolen in front of my door, I have it on camera. Best buy had the obligation to get it handled safely, yet they are delaying refund even though I have sent all proofs including police report number and video recording. No customer service on the phone. No action on the chat even though I spent more than an hour with them. Unable to get relevant information from them. Awful. The shared responsibility is between Purolator and best buy, but ultimately, customer experience is on Best Buy's side which is below terrible.

Way...and I mean way understaffed. When I got help, the person helping me was apparently the most knowledgeable person for my issue. Not only didn't know anything about my issue, he actually used words out of context illustrating he had zero knowledge of the subject matter.

He passed me off to his supervisor. I didn't think it was possible to know less than his subordinate... but he did.

Conclusion. Best Buy hires people who are clueless as to tbw products they sell, and when confronted with a specific question, they actually make up an entirely BS response that I defeated with a simple Google search.

Fridge delayed (> 1 month)

We ordered a new fridge online on Dec 2, for delivery on Dec 13th. We were informed delivery would be delayed (until Dec 20) and compensated $40 (so far, so good). THEN … nothing! No message, no fridge. Upon calling CS were told the ‘back office’ was dealing with it (the lost fridge) but NO ONE would call us back. The appliance was eventually delivered on Jan 3 (over a month later) with no apology, explanation or additional compensation. TERRIBLE! I do not recommend ordering large appliances on Bestbuy.ca given this horrible Customer Service experience.

One of the worst customer service…

One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had.

The TV I purchased from Best Buy was broken when I set it up. I called on December 22nd to request an exchange, but they could not give me any confirmed exchange date. Because of this, I canceled the order and bought the same TV through Costco.ca instead — who delivered a working unit with no issues. Also when the delivery was made drove across my lawn to cause damage to my property.

Despite the TV being defective, Best Buy originally wouldn’t pick it up until January 7th. After countless phone calls and hours wasted, I finally convinced them to pick it up on January 3rd when the same delivery company was already at my house.

I was hung up on multiple times by customer service and repeatedly given conflicting information.

On January 2nd, I was told my refund would take 5–7 business days. Day 7 has now passed with no refund. Instead, I received an email saying it would now be another 3–5 days.

Broken product, poor communication, excessive delays, and zero accountability. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere before buying a large item from Best Buy.

Train your staff!

Yesterday I called a local Best Buy to ask about buying an Etsy gift card. I was told Best Buy does not have physical cards but I could come in & get an e-card - pay for it & have the details for accessing the e-card, including sending the details to the person to whom I would give the card.
I popped over today, happy to get the card I was told would be very appreciated. Walked in the door, greeter asked what I wanted. She pointed out the rack of physical gift cards. I said they do not have physical cards, as I had just told her. She said to look at the rack. I did. Of course, no Etsy gift cards there. I showed her & said I was told I could buy only e-cards from them. She insisted they must "just be out of the cards right now"! Incredible!
I went to Customer Service to buy a card. No luck there either. They apparently searched their physical stock. I told them it was an e-card. They did not understand (3 of them by now).
I gave up.

Best Buy is dishonest.

Best Buy allows fraud to run rampant through their company via marketplace sellers. It’s absolutely disgusting how they treat customers. I hope they go bankrupt.

Fraud acknowledged, investigation stalled, customer left paying

I am dealing with an unresolved fraud involving an unauthorized Best Buy transaction financed through a third party. Best Buy Canada confirmed in writing that a fraud investigation was opened, but weeks later refused to provide basic transaction details directly to me.

Despite acknowledging that records exist, Best Buy has not disclosed information required to resolve the fraud, including store location, authorization method, identity verification used, or transaction documentation. Instead, I have been repeatedly redirected between Best Buy, the lender, and law enforcement, creating a circular delay that prevents resolution.

This approach leaves fraud victims unable to clear their accounts or correct credit reporting, even after police reports and formal privacy requests are submitted.

The matter is now under regulatory review. Consumers should be aware that fraud resolution may involve prolonged delays and limited transparency.

Horrible customer service. The tv i ordered never showed up. Delivery company said they attempted to delivery twice but were unsuccessful. I was home both times. Best buy took zero responsibility for this. Will never buy from them again

I prefer writing positive reviews, however, as I also rely on other peoples reviews, I feel compelled to share my experience with Purolator and Best Buy.
I ordered an amplifier from Best Buy’s online store. I received notification that was going to be delivered last Monday so I stayed home to wait for delivery as no time frame was indicated. It didn’t arrive on Monday, on Tuesday, tracking said it was being delivered and in a truck. It still haven’t arrived by 5:30 so I called Best Buy, or rather texted back-and-forth using their online app. They are very apologetic, but unable to help and suggested I call Purolator myself. I suggested that as they had chosen and hired Purolator that they call. They indicated that they didn’t have the capacity to do that. After going back-and-forth, trying to get them to see reason, I called Purolator at the number they provided. I was told by a recording that the approximate wait time would be 40 minutes. This is not my first go round with Purolator. I’m guessing that sometime later today I’ll receive notification that they attempted delivery but that I wasn’t here. This has happened the last two times someone used them. No delivery was every attempted. I would know as my front door Security is linked to my cell phone. So even if I didn’t answer, I’d see it come up as a missed call. I note that Purolator has a 1.1 out of 5 rating. Sadly, they’re poor performance also reflects on Best Buy.

I purchased an ebike from Best Buy…

I purchased an ebike from Best Buy Canada, and the bike did not work after delivery. Best Buy told me to deal with the manufacturer, and they kept asking for more details until the 30-day window expired. Then they told me I would need to deal with the seller, and that Best Buy would not discuss anything outside the 30-day window. Beware Best Buy only cares about the sale not support. You can not trust them as they will sell anything as long as they get thier share.

Worst experience

The phone works well, but my in-store buying experience was misleading.

I was told verbally that my total monthly cost would be lower with a specific mobile plan, which was the main reason I agreed to the purchase. That plan was not applied, and the billing does not match what was explained.

This experience highlights the importance of verifying all verbal offers in writing before completing any mobile purchase.
