Absolutely shocking taste of their fish…
Absolutely shocking taste of their fish fingers. They're now not cod, not haddock, not even pollock but a type of mud dwelling catfish called Basa and taste exactly as you'd expect.
I even reached out to their customer service to get my money back and was told "Please rest assured that your comments have been shared with all the relevant departments at Birds Eye. Your input is invaluable in helping us to meet the needs of our valued consumers like you."
Classic profit over product. Should be illegal.
recently bought 5 boxes chicken…
recently bought 5 boxes chicken fingers (10 per box) plus 5 boxes of fish (2 per box) for 10 for £10 deal the chicken fingers was the worst that i have ever tasted i had to buy chip shop curry to disguise the flavour it was that or bin the lot the fish was not much better tasting i would recommend people avoid wasting your money on this brand as i intend never ever to buy birds eye again
6 pack of chunky battered fish fingers
Bought the 6 pack of chunky battered fish fingers. They tasted vile I spat it out and they went straight in the bin. Turns out they are basa fish and have a horrible muddy sort of taste made me feel ill the taste was so strong. Definitely won't be buying again! Very disappointed.
Hi,We and some of my church friends who…
Hi,We and some of my church friends who having seem the photos of Birdseye cooked crunchy fish fingers, battered fish fillets and fish fingers, are mounting a legal and peaceful protest at a Sainsbury’s supermarket Barnstaple North Devon on the 1st March in a public place near to the supermarket.
This is clear food misrepresentation and the FSA and Trading Standards are not prepare to investigate urgently the disgusting reviews seen on trustpilot ,or our photos sent Birdseye as well as all the major supermarkets.
None of whom seem to care that they are complicit in cheating the poorest in our society who buy these products seeing the lovely pictures on the package .
The FSA regulations are quite clear in that photos showing COD fish fingers on the package ,when in fact this is a lie and the fish inside is reconstituted Pollock or Basa of a very poor quality ( reviews below )
Sainsbury’s executive office were the only supermarket who replied to our complaint which we backed up with actual photos .
They did not accept being complicit in this food scam because they are not the actual manufacturer,we asked them to test the foods in question themselves,or even speak to Birdseye who are owned by Normad .
But They have ignored us and we believe they have not contacted Birdseye and therefore don’t seem to care .??
So our church friends will protest and will show the public own photos on these packages which are not an accurate representation of the food inside and are a cynical lie, in the hope that we will convince soon of Sainsbury’s customers to avoid these foods and make their own complaints accordingly.
The local media will be there on the 1st March and we hope this major cynical marketing disgusting food cheating will be exposed and will prompt the FSA and will be forced to investigate and discipline the offenders.
We have sent so many messages to Tesco etc as well as Normad and Birdseye but like the review before we have just been fobbed off with a few vouchers because al, they care about is their profit and have contempt for the consumer, which our major supermarket seem to share their commercial views.
Well we shall see ??
If it tastes like cardboard it probably is!
Surprise Ingredient: Cardboard Delight!
Well, Birds Eye, I must say you’ve really upped the crunch factor in your battered cod fillets—who knew you were branching out into the fine art of fish & cardboard fusion cuisine?
I sat down, excited for a classic fish dinner, only to find a mystery ingredient lurking in my fillet. Was it a secret new recipe? A golden ticket to a factory tour? Nope—just a good old-fashioned chunk of cardboard. Nothing adds texture to a meal like an unexpected mouthful of packaging!
To their credit, Birds Eye did respond swiftly, offering me £10 in vouchers. While that’s generous, it doesn’t quite compensate for the moment of sheer panic as I wondered if my fish had started evolving into a shipping box.
All in all, if you like your fish with a side of surprise, go for it. If not, you might want to inspect each bite carefully—or just order a pizza instead.
Tried birds eye frozen chicken pies…
Tried birds eye frozen chicken pies after many years. All pastry bits of chicken, few peas, carrots, gravy. Not at all as i remember. Not much flavour. Even the Classic beef burger do not have as much taste as they used to. "£2.79 for 4 small burgers. Up your game Bird's Eye.
There was no plastic inner bag on the 4…
There was no plastic inner bag on the 4 pack of Birdseye chicken quarter pounder.
I opened one of the two boxes I purchased and all of the burgers fell on the floor.
Previously I purchased Icelands own brand of burgers which had a plastic bag on them. I wrote to Birdseye telling them about what had happened and they didn't even have the good grace to compensate me for the burgers that fell on the floor and which I had to throw away in the bin.
BYE BYE BIRDSEYE
My concern is that their chicken steaks are being marketed as chicken breast. In a small corner of the packaging it says chopped chicken breast, which is totally different from breast fillet. You really have to scan the packet to avoid buying minced or shaped chicken. A lot of providers are being unclear in this way. Birds Eyes customer service is dreadful and judging from the reviews most of their products are to. Knowing what they're like we wouldn't feel happy eating any of their produce and won't use them again.
The chicken shop burgers are disgusting…
The chicken shop burgers are disgusting and made me feel sick. They are definitely not an improved recipe. I don’t know what’s happened to all of their frozen products - will not be buying any again, and would recommend the same to anyone else.
Stomach issues and acid reflux
I tried eating their plant based lamb and although the taste was alright and the texture was surprisingly similar to lamb I am now experiencing horrible acid reflux and stomach pain. I've eaten some of their plant based foods before and usually I always end up having the same sort of pain, it's only recently I realised their food was the cause. I won't be touching anything by them again.
Poison!!!
Poison!!!
Took a few bites and spat it out and threw all of them in the bin. Waste of money!
Avoid Birds Eye Chicken Breast Teeth…
Avoid Birds Eye Chicken Breast Teeth Smashers.
full of bone and Gristle I now need exspencive Dental Treatment ,clearly there breast are made up of any old mushed up chicken bone gristle and who knows what.
Chunky Fish Fingers - AVOID!
Chunky Fish Fingers - AVOID at all costs.
At nearly £4, you’d expect at least a sea faring white fish - not muddy ‘freshwater’ dwelling catfish.
These are not labelled Basa anywhere on the packet.
Even my cats wouldn’t touch it!
Wish I’d read the reviews before buying this product.
Roast chicken dinner with 5 Aunt Bessie…
Roast chicken dinner with 5 Aunt Bessie Roast potatoes, absolutely waste of money totally shit carrots raw ,5 little potatoes disgusting can't think of anything positive to say, DISGUSTING
Birds Eye poor quality fish fingers
Today, I eagerly opened a new pack of Birds Eye fish fingers, a product I had been looking forward to enjoying. As I bit into one, savoring the crispy coating and the tender fish inside, I suddenly encountered an unexpected crunch. To my dismay, I discovered a small piece of plastic mixed in with the fish. This experience was particularly disappointing, especially considering the premium price of Birds Eye products. It's frustrating when such high expectations aren't met.
The Basa fish used in their chunky fish…
The Basa fish used in their chunky fish fingers is absolutely disgusting. It tastes like mould and dirt. Not surprising now I’ve looked it up and it is a bottom feeding, freshwater catfish. Both my daughters spat it out and we are all big fish eaters. Fobbing us off with sub standard produce. Will never be wasting my money on Birds Eye again.
Got fed this as a child
Got fed this as a child, which I always thought was bad. Tried a good variety of their range over the last couple of months, and safe to say it's gotten worse. Flavourless, cheap, poor quality. I'd rather drink bile.
Untrustworthy
Untrustworthy. Started unexpectedly putting pea goo in their burgers instead of meat. They changed it back but now won't even give me some vouchers to make up for them making me eat their veg mush. So my boycott of all things Birds eye will continue.
If I could give zero stars I would…
If I could give zero stars I would have.
Birdseye frozen veggies were always really good but WOW!!!!! Nor lately.
I purchase a lot of there steam fresh bags to put in my lunch bowls. I purchased 4 bags of Snap Peas from 2 different stores. All 4 of them were awful and not eatable. They were stringy and a yellowish green color and “No I did not overcook them). I prefer my veggies with a bit of crunch rather than a soggy mess. I don’t know “where or whom your getting them from but there bringing down your Standard you have held for yourself and your company”. I will no longer purchase snap peas from your Company until you can prove you have made changes in your suppler or grower.
I realize that I’m just 1 person and who cares about one persons complaint or dissatisfied consumer but I eat alot of your products and so does my friends and clients that are eating a Healthy diet and lifestyle.
I hope you are able to address and fix my concerns regarding your frozen vegetables that you’re passing them as fresh from garden/ fields to plate.
I don’t think so.
Wow! ...Just had not realised how bad something could be?
Wow...Just had not realised how bad things were at Birds eye?
Bought a pack of 4 Chicken Pies and it stated quite clearly that they were the "Nations Favourite pie" ??
I really don't think so! What an utter waste of money! In todays day and age we all accept at least something is worth having when it comes to advertisements? Obviously not! Could not find a little bit of chicken in the pie at all? One of four had something that resembled chicken! The other three were vegetable and a small amount of gravy come source! Utter rip off! Chicken.....on a diet possibly?
Scandal!
