Great work carried out by Borthwick…

Great work carried out by Borthwick group. Everything was well planned and all the work including survey, insulation and ventilation systems were completed in a few weeks following the first phone call. The work was done in a few hours. I am very pleased with the service I received and been recommending this company to my friends and colleagues.

The lads turned up on time and were professional and friendly, got straight on with the work and once finished cleaned up afterwards, the office staff are always polite when calling to arrange appointments.

COLD HOUSE

I had a cosy home untill I had borthwick carry out government grant work. we only needed a boiler but was told to get boiler we had to have all affected. we had plastic things on windows to let air in, ok. loft lagged although it was perfectly lagged a few years before. the worst thing was a piv system in loft that blows the cold air of the loft into house through a vent onto landing making the house really cold. I would like to get this taken out. I do not need it my home is not damp. this is the worst thing I have ever had fitted. I have since been advised as Iyou installed trickle vents I should not have needed piv system. now the cold weather is here I may have to move into my daughters home for the winter as piv has made house dangerously cold at night and I cannot afford to have heating on all night . not that heating does much against the cold being blown in.

Mess left in property

2 Engineers turned up to complete ventilation work.  
When they left the property there was a very strong smell coming from the toilet.  Had they had asked to use the toilet this would have been granted however it was not asked.

On inspection my Mother was horrified at the mess that was left.  The toilet was badly soiled and the used toilet brush was disgusting and just placed back in the holder.  There was mess all over the toilet and seat.  My Mother was physically sick when finding this. 

My Mother would be horrified to find that this had happened to someone else.  She is 77 and should not have to deal with these issues

Professional service throughout

Professional service throughout. Head office staff were helpful in clarifying concerns/questions before agreeing to work. Chaps who did the installation were prompt, friendly & courteous throughout. Thoughtful in how they did the work and efficiently completed the task. Cleaned up as any men would so just a woman's touch needed to finish off! Would happily recommend to others.

Had our Cavity wall insulation done…

Had our Cavity wall insulation done this morning. The workmen were very polite and cleaned as best they could before leaving. They informed me that the kitchen had not been sealed correctly so we had some over flow and cleaning required by myself, however with these jobs you expect some cleaning to be required. The workmen were chatty and polite throughout. Thanks lads

Dreadful sub-contractor link and poor complaint management

It’s a real shame to write a negative review about Borthwick, as the work they carried out was great and I have no complaints (cavity wall insulation). Unfortunately, they choose to sub-contract the necessary ventilation and electrical work to a sub-standard company (see review of Oak Electrotechnical) who have the worst customer service skills I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing and carry out installations in the cheapest, least skilled way possible. When I complained to Borthwick that I was unhappy about the work the sub-contractor had carried out, I was told that my complaint was with the other company! This is totally unacceptable as my whole agreement was with Borthwick. I have yet to receive a response from them, the last communication I had was ‘give me an hour’ as the manager was going to speak to the sub-contracted company. That was a week and a half ago, and despite me leaving messages and emailing their complaints email address, all lines of communication have gone dead! Exceptionally poor. They are incredibly keen to speak to you when trying to get the work! The Great British Insulation Scheme is available through lots of different providers. I would recommend choosing an alternative to Borthwick.

I was recommended to the Borthwick Group by a relative. I'm so glad that I used them, courteous workmen, cleaned up after themselves and all rubbish was taken away. They are continuing the work tomorrow and I know the experience will be the same. Well done excellent workforce including the office staff. Everything was explained from start to finish.
