Confusing Customer Service experience

I ordered a pair of climbing shoes & harness. They arrived on-time; however, the climbing shoes were the wrong size. I went through the process to exchange them via the online RMA form. That went smoothly. Where I encountered a bump in the road was when I called customer service to have them update my mailing address. I called the 877-883-6276 phone number they provided but was greeted with absolutely no answer. After a minute or two, the line would just hang up on me. I called approx. 10 times with no response. I tried to "Live Chat" option on their website with no response as well. I finally gave it a last ditch effort by calling the International # provided on the website. That worked perfectly. I spoke with a customer service rep. that was able to update my information for me and verify all my exchange information. So, if you have issues with customer services (e.g., cant seem to get in touch with them) try the international # (which seems odd, I know, but worked). I hope CampSaver updates their information online to direct their costumers better. I hope this review helps some people not run into this frustrating issue if they need to talk with customer service.

Wow, service is so bad.

Wow, I can't say enough about how poor the customer service is. I didn't look at their reviews before purchasing. If you look on their site, they only post positive reviews with almost all 5 ratings. Every other review site I saw are terrible. This company has some serious issues. Had same experience as others. They say item is in stock but doesn't send notification if it isn't. After talking to them, they say it is in stock but don't know what the issue is. They had no idea when it would be sent out and they had no way of finding out. At least according to the person I spoke to. They really fail when it comes to contacting customers after saying they will get in touch. I will never buy from from this company again. As long as you don't have to deal with their customer service, you should be okay. But if something goes wrong, good luck.

A nightmare!

The return process is about as terrible as you can imagine. It's not streamlined at all, they take their sweet time in processing the items once they are received, and THEN they try to convince you that you returned a used product to them, so you can only receive store credit.

I received a number of emails rejected by their (full) customer service inbox, the customer service line doesn't get answered (I waited on hold for so long!).... the only way I finally got ahold of someone was via chat.

Truly a nightmare!

On the plus side, I didn't have the experience that many others are reporting of the product being out of stock or taking months to ship, so there's that!

Prices may look good but it has…

Prices may look good but it has happened far too many times for me where you think you're getting a great deal but they hold onto your paid order for weeks without shipping despite saying they have things in stock. I think they do this deliberately.
I won't be buying anything more from them.

I've been waiting for 12+ business days…

I've been waiting for 12+ business days (since my return was delivered to them) to receive my refund. No communication from Campsaver. When I called, they told me that returns are backed up and they may get to it next week. First order with them and sure to be my last. Stick to Backcountry or REI.

I’m a happy “CampSaver”

I’ve been an REI member for decades. Not to minimize the force that is REI, but, as I recently am rebuilding my backpacking equipment after decades of child and now grandchild-rearing, I have searched for competitive deals across the web. CampSaver has universally been helpful in recommendations via phone and email (I’m rural) and I’m satisfied with my purchases. I think they’re amused by the grandmother desiring to return to the mountains (okay, with my knees, the hills). Dreams keep us alive.

sold something without having the inventory...

CampSaver said that they had inventory of an item that we knew was being discontinued soon. We ordered it, and didn't hear back from them for weeks that they no longer had the item. Everyone else had stopped carrying the item by that point. Very frustrated and disappointed with them.

Would not recommend

I paid for a product Jan 13,2019 and they mentioned on back order less than 24 business days it should be on its way. Little communication on this after reaching out and I have fully been charged and NOW above 40+ BUSINESS days waiting for the product. No care to communicate the excess amount and still have not even offered to resolve this in any other way. Still do not have the shipping details and when I reached out they offered a minimal resolution now that the winter season is basically over. Avid outdoors individual and ordered very large items with no issues similar to this, these items are very small and not heavy at all. I would not recommend this company, go to backcountry, thehouse or anywhere else before this group.

I saw a jacket on a website from Mammut…

I saw a jacket on a website from Mammut . They did not have my size. I noticed it was on Camp Saver for $150.00 less, I read many of the not favorable reviews. Their website said only 1 left in Large.
I called. I was immediately helped and told in fact there was 1 left in the factory and it would be shipped the same day. I took a chance.
I AM GLAD I DID .
I received the perfect jacket in 3 days .
Trust me, don't always believe negative reviews.
Camp Saver is a quality company that I will use again and recommend to my friends .

Glad That I Gave Them a Try!

After reading the reviews of CampSaver on many sites, I was hesitant about placing an order from them. However, my experience was completely positive. I placed an order for an item last Saturday, it shipped out on Sunday with tracking information, and it arrived today (Thursday). The item was well-packaged and as described. I'd order from them again!

I had no issues at all. It was above average.

I posted this exact thing on yelp: I can't help but feel compelled to write a review. I was pretty distraught after I placed my order and then stumbled across the substantially less than flattering reviews. Before I became aware of those reviews, I ordered an air mattress which was the best deal I could find even though it was just a few bucks. They shipped it that day and it arrived shortly thereafter on time and as expected. I had a pretty good experience. No worries at all.

I have.... Nothing... Still....

Unfortunately, I placed an order with this company without looking at the reviews because they were a couple bucks cheaper than the others. Well, here it is 11 days later, no contact from them, and my items still have not shipped. Looking at these other reviews it seems I would be fortunate to get the items before I grow old, I've sent an email I'm eagerly awaiting the reply. In the bottom of the "thanks for ordering here's your receipt" (paraphrased) email in the fine print they go ahead and tell you how miserable the shipping is going to be, don't believe me or any of these other reviews. Go ahead and order, you can be the next one star for these guys.. Your better off paying the extra from any other company. After getting ready to post a BBB complaint I was reading through the already posted complaints (there are many on numerous websites at this point) I saw a reply from CampSaver stating that their policy is to " not take the money untill they have the item ready to ship". After looking through my bank statement I realized this is the case. I've waited two weeks for my clothing and they never processed a payment, my suspicion is they get orders and than go to their supplier and say yes we have this many of these items sold so we need them and the supplier ships them to campscammer and campscammer ships the items to you and bills your account a month or two after you placed the order (provided you haven't canceled your order by than). The email I got after I ordered nowhere in it said these items were backordered and only very quitely and softley eluded around the point they didn't have them. Shame on this company.

Saved With CampSaver

I have had positive experiences with CampSaver, having purchased 2 high-end down coats, each costing several hundred dollars, and priced significantly lower than other retailers. Each brand, one of which is Canada-based and the other based in Sweden, is sold by just a couple of other retailers in the US, so, availability plus great prices, and, no shipping fees, was a no-brainer for me. They shipped out each coat the next day and they arrived about a week later. I would not hesitate to buy from CampSaver, again.

This place is disappointing

This place is silly. I made 2 separate orders for Columbia pants etc. After 5 - 6 weeks they contact me & advise all of the products I ordered - and that they took the money for - are all unavailable. ??? It’s kind of weird. There are many accounts of this in the other reviews below, of which I quite believe. I have unsubscribed to all of their emails & offers.

However, I cannot deny that their customer service was honest, quick, straight forward and polite to me. They have notified me of a full refund (unsolicited) and have been completely cooperative. I think I’ve read some negative stuff about their customer service below, but I had absolutely no problems.

However, fine customer service does not alone a company make -and I’m still disappointed. I was really looking forward to the products that I ordered.

unethical and bad business practices

I hope by NOT clicking any star it will be a ZERO STAR?

Where do I start -

1) False advertising
2) Bait-and-switch
3) "captured"/charged card full amount before it ship....and still have/had not received product
4) lying about backorder dates

I ordered a winter coat on CYBER MON (11/26/18) from campsaver as it was 10% less than other online stores. They said they had problems with the card, so I had to give another on which the charged the full amount immediately. Then I never heard anything again. When I did not receive an email that it had shipped (NOTHING on website indicated it was on backorder) I call and get a customer service supervisor that gave me a song-and-dance about how it might not make it for Xmas and did I want a different color? I said no, I want what I ordered. Then they gave me another 10% off for my "trouble" (further sucking me in to wait, no doubt, rather than try and find it elsewhere)...and said maybe 2-3 weeks. When I would look on their website, it still appeared as if one ordered it now one would STILL get it right away. NO updated website that it was backordered. I call again after Christmas and same stuff....not sure when coming, did I want yet another different color....they would talk to the buyers who would talk with the company and see what the problem was...would call back. No call back. I call again...."we spoke to the buyers and the company and you will have to either cancel your order or wait until SEPTEMBER 2019". It is January!!! Half the winter has passed by while I wait for the coat and they have my money....AND have kept me one the hook so I could not take advantage of buying it elsewhere at favorable prices on Cyber Monday or the Post Christmas sales (if they were to have told me that it was backordered....).
NOW (January) their website merely mentions that it may take 19-23 day to ship!!! 19-23 days when they told me, and repeated as of today (1/18/19), that I would NOT have it until SEPTEMBER. So they are lying - either lying on their website about the expected delivery dates (being only 3 weeks), or to me (delivery date reaffirmed as September). Perhaps they are trying to get me to cancel as the price I have been quoted is much below what is out there now.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM...NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE PRICE SEEMS. BIG DISCOUNT OFF "NOTHING" IS NOTHING AND WORTH NOTHING. If I were to cost my time at minimum wage for the time spent on this (not to mention the aggravation) I would have ended up spending twice what the discount was. 30% on nothing = nothing!
DONT DO IT.

ps...nope...I had to click on a star...but know I would have chosen NO star.

THE WORST

This company is terrible. Everything is 'in stock' until you order it, and then two weeks later they tell you it's not in stock and it will ship to you in a month or two. When questioned they said they are a small company which makes it difficult to track inventory??Zero customer service, no refunds for returns (and everything is manual, no online return request). Had to file a claim with my bank for a returned item. Just the worst shopping experience. And apparently, a scam.

Steer clear at all costs!!!

Lesson learned! Read reviews before purchasing from a new vendor - I now understand why CampSaver has such terrible reviews online. As disappointed as I was with the inaccurate shipping information I received, I cannot even say that CampSaver at least provided a prepaid return shipping label for my inconvenience of having to purchase all the items locally after paying them for expedited shipping! Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired and requires a warning to all potential consumers to steer clear of CampSaver!
