Horrible Experience

I have recently used Carhood for the first time and have found the overall experience extremely disappointing. My wife and arrived at Melbourne airport at 10:30pm and called Carhood to pick us up. No one answered the phone, no one came to pick us up. The central number were no help either. We than had to take an $120 Uber to our home and go back the next day (and waste 3hours) to pick up our car.I have sinced sent several emails to the Carhood service team and have yet to receive any response from them or receive the $120 refund. We will never be using Carhood nor recommend them to anyone else.

First time user..... Very happy

Have never used carhood before and it was so easy and straight forward. The rental car company was very client focussed. Car was in great condition even if it was a bit older. Very happy.

Happy with our experience with Carhood.

Hireing a car from Carhood was a very easy, trouble free experience. They originally had us asigned to a smaller car (Corolla) than we had ordered through a hire site as they hadn't received our original request. On learning that we were three adults and one child with carseat, four large suitcases and hand luggage for all they quickly found a Rav 4 for us which worked out very well. It was much appreciated.

I was disappointed with the service

I was disappointed with the service. Started very good and smooth but when I got back and received my car, the car had an empty tank and dirty. There was still cans of beers under the seats, the car wasn't washed just maybe a light wipe. I was told I could fill up the tank and send the receipt and get refounded. Did that but got nothing back. I've called the customer service with the photos of dirty car and the receipt for petrol, they said they will get back to me. It's been 3 weeks and haven't heard anything from them. My car was rented but I received nothing! It's a pure scam. I even referred a friend based my initial experience and his car has been rented and I didn't get anything for that either. Absolute scam, won't refer it to anyone. Unless rhey want carhood make money with their car!

Carhood simple and easy with no fuss

Carhood was great, Organised a Audi Q5 although a week before pick up they no longer had the car due to the owner removing it.
But they happily upgraded me to a top of the range Hyundai Tucson.
The car was great, it did have a small mark on the rear left which they made note of and they where honest with everything.
No hidden fees
I called and they sent a Uber to pick me up from Melbourne Airport.
Picking up of the car was quick and easy!
Drop off easy as well and an Uber to take me back to the airport.
Must be there before 4.30pm otherwise there is an extra charge and must get own way to the airport.

The next day my $500 deposit was returned and had the money back within about 4-5 days.

Thank you, I will use Carhood again in the hopes my service is the same again :) A+++

Bad organization

Bad organization
Far from Melbourne airport.
We booked an automatic car (it was supposed to be a X trail Nissan or similar) and it was a manual gear box old Suzuki Vitara
We waited for 2 hours for another car (a nice Ford Territory).
No check out was done when we let the vehicle.
We had a problem also with the deposit and the refunding.
I think that this company has to improve is own organization.

Awesome savings

Went to Sydney for a week, saved heaps parking at Carhood Melbourne and the car in Sydney was great value too. Highly recommend to all travellers

Savings not worth the hassle. No true innovation here!

Innovative companies that change the status quo get me excited. Airport parking is a rip off, but today's market has many alternatives such as uber or skybus. Carhood was meant to provide a cheap and hassle free alternative.

I parked my car at carhood for 12 days in June. My car was rented out for 6 days. They said the market price for my car was $26/day but when I looked on their own website, a similar car was quoted for $40/day.

I was paid $26 for the 6 days of rental and about 800km of mileage to my car. My code: melown8175. On arrival, I was meant to get a text message with a link to a courtesy uber. There was no text msg, and I had to pay for my own uber to the melb depot.

At the depot, I was meant to have a surf lock to my key. There was no surf lock after calling carhood, I was told that there was an administrative error and my girlfriend and I waited for about 45 mins in the cold melbourne night for our keys.

Also on their website it says an e-tag would be fitted on your rental car. However, an e-tag was not fitted and I was charged for road tolls by citylink.

What you save here in potential parking costs is simply not worth the hassle. They are seeking now $3.5 million in capital raising to fund their dodgy business model. DON'T touch them.

I needed a car for 3 days in Sydney

I needed a car for 3 days in Sydney. I booked it before I left Fiji my flight was delayed so It was after hours when I arrived at Kingsford Smith I called luckily one of they guys was working back he picked me up from airport, took me to there shop filled paper work I was on my way in a very nice VW car. I dropped it back on Sunday morning I was running late , there shuttle was out so they arranged an Uber who was there in 1 minute flat I have to say this is a slick operation. Best of all I had a car for 3 days with full insurance and the whole thing cost me less than a taxi ride from the airport to Castle Hill Lodge. I Love a bargain, Excellent.

Carhood is terrible

Carhood is terrible. I dropped the car off with no issues to get an email saying I have a check engine light saying I need to pay xyz otherwise their ridiculous charge of $25 a day for parking. On to which fixing the issue is IMPOSSIBLE because every time you send an email some ELSE emails you back. EVERY TIME. Even if you just reply to an email. Then I pick my car up and my console is broken, there is trash everywhere and the fuel that was supposed to be full was NOT full. Absolutely pathetic show of a company.

Have used carhood twice now with no problems. Super easy & convenient for parking near the airport while on holidays. Child friendly, always had rear and forward facing child seats available on airport transfers.

Very poor service

Very poor service. No one was there at the arranged time and location to take delivery of our car or give us a lift back to the airport. Waited over 30 minutes, left the keys in the box and got a taxi to the airport. After a few weeks they emailed me saying they can not rent the car out and are going to charge us for parking fees. We are very disappointed with the service..although a nice idea, they need to actually focus on customer service...

While we do clean each car before each rental, the vehicle you dropped off at our Brisbane premise was excessively dirty and in a state that would require professional cleaning and it was unable to be rented out. While we do usually charge cleaning fees if you wish to have it cleaned professionally, or parking fees if it can not be rented out due to ineligibility, we did not charge you anything and allowed you to arrange to pick up your vehicle to avoid these charges. In regards to the service at arrival, we thank you for the feedback and have taken this on board. We are heavily recruiting across all three sites and refining processes to ensure that delays do not occur in the future. Thank you

Excellent customer service provided by Sydney team drop and pick up. they drove me to the airport and picked us up as soon as I called and my Car was clean/detailed, when they handed over to me...... and save a lot on parking

5 Star Idea, But Poor Execution When Something Goes Wrong

Inspiring 5 star idea for free parking + ability to rent your vehicle + nice cleanup after it's been rented out.

...but uninspiring dealing with post-accident customer service. Please note that I am OK with my car being in an accident. It's how the process was handled thereafter why I chose this rating.

-1 star because after my vehicle was in an accident, it took a week for the "fix your car" process to really get started. I would have expected a reputable company to hand hold the vehicle owner with how to get things fixed, but instead it was up to me to take initiative and begin the process.

-1 star because the process for fixing the vehicle was unreasonably complicated, with me ultimately giving up on trying to fix it myself and just giving my car back to Carhood for them to sort it out. I needed to get 3 quotes for fixing the car, but no body shop was willing to give me a written quote without either an insurance claim number or an assessment fee. I reached out to Carhood to ask for the insurance company or a claim number, but they refused to give me any details saying that other customers haven't had this issue.

-1 star because customer service took 5 days to respond to me about 2 unpaid tolls. I've sent a 3rd toll to Carhood and haven't heard back yet after nearly a month. Whats up?

End-to-end it took about 6 weeks from picking up my damaged car to getting it back fixed. And when I did receive the car back - there were still some minor scratches that remained on the tail-light that haven't been fixed. Again, I was told that it was my responsibility to reach out to the body shop and see what they can do. I can't be bothered with this any longer, but not impressed.

I made $78 from my original car rental. All of the back-and-fourth with getting the car fixed cost me just over $200 out of pocket in public transit, tolls, & gas.

Aside from that, about 1/2 of the team was really friendly, and about 1/2 of the team couldn't be less bothered about me being a customer or that I had a vehicle that needed to be fixed on account of a Carhood accident.

I feel for many of the local workers at the Sydney office as they seemed incredibly busy and perhaps even a bit understaffed.

I found Carhood a great alternative to airport rentals.

I found Carhood a great alternative to renting a car at the airport. I’ve done it twice now and the cars were great.
They are a helpful team and collecting me from the airport went smoothly.
It does add a bit of extra time onto the trip rather than renting from the airport but if I have the time I’d rather rent through carhood.
Hopefully the prices will remain competitive.
