My partner wanted to download an epub…

My partner wanted to download an epub to use on her iPhone ebook app. The website says you can download the actual epub file, so she paid for the book and tried to download it, but it's not possible after all. She can only use their own app, which she'd prefer not to as it's not user friendly. A waste of money. She's paid for a book she can't read.

Just on your point about being able to download an unencrypted EPUB file... a few publishers do release their books without DRM (security measures) but overwhelmingly the main commercial publishers don't do that. They require us to encrypt their ebooks in order to limit piracy.
The net result is that, for example, you can only read a Kindle book on a Kindle device or app; if you buy an ebook from Amazon you can't read it on any other company's device or app. The same applies to Apple books. Similarly you need to use our app in order to read an ebook that you buy from us.
Anyway, please just ping our help desk and we'll process a full refund.

ADE is horrific
Adobe digital editions is a horrible way to read any book for students or people that hate reading horrifically slow. I would really appreciate a refund as I cannot download the pdf file otherwise and paid for nothing now.

DRM-free ebook nirvana
I really, REALLY, love the fact that you carry DRM-free ebooks. It allows me to use whatever reader I want, wherever I want. In a time when a certain corporation reserves the right to remove ebooks that you've paid for from your device, it's a refreshing. I've resolved only to buy DRM-free books.
I do appreciate the fact that I can specify DRM-free in searches. If I had a suggestion, it would be to better flag books as being DRM-free, so it would be faster for me to notice that before I get my heart set on buying a book..

DRM free is a lie
Exhasperating to buy a book on a website that SEO optimizes for "DRM free ebooks" and has that all over their webpage only to find out that you have to deal with DRM and cannot use the file as you planned on an ereader. This website is dishonest.
Edited: They gave me a refund so I have nothing to be upset about. Even if the webpage is confusing, at least the risk is low.

I see what you mean. I just Googled "DRM-free ebooks," and sure enough we popped up at the top. But we're not particularly optimising for that, precisely because DRM-free is in the minority. (That's all driven by publishers' policies, not by us. We'd be happy to go 100% DRM-free.)
We do have a link in the top menu bar that enables users to select for DRM-free only; and we put that there because a number of users requested it.
So I'm guessing Google has interpreted that as some primary feature of the site, and boosted it in results. I'll ask our SEO team if it's possible to somehow downplay the DRM-free. Not sure how that works.
In any event, I'm very sorry you were disappointed with eBooks.com. Shall we process a refund? If so, just let us know and it'll be done in a jiffy.

Cant get app to work decent on my tablet
I already have a book reader i am happy with. i paid for a book why cant i access and use the book file on my own book reader the app this site makes you download and forced me too use is totaly rubbish and practicaly unusable you try to swipe to change the page and it goes back the way or sticks too much messing about asked for a refund didnt even get an answer not happy at all
