Do not trust H2ochem - Poor service, poor communication

I booked H2o chem to come and clean my cold water storage tank. They came in December.

I went to look at the clean they provided to the tank after they had completed it. While they had indeed cleaned the bottom of the tank, removing the brown sludge and mud, they had not removed the limescale that had coated the sites of the tank.

Having done this tank clean specifically to make sure our legionella risk was low, I expected the tank to be fully and properly cleaned. I contacted them and asked them to return and clean it properly. They responded that:

"During the C&D we removed sediment and lose debris, and chlorinated. The attending engineer advised that he did tried to manually clean it while being careful. The issue is that the plastic is smooth on the inside to inhibit bacterial growth, by aggressively scrubbing it causes abrasions in the plastic increasing the surface area for bacteria which is why best practice is chemical descale.

This would need to be separately quoted as it is not part of a standard C&D."

This is outrageous, as, based on HSE regulation (Health and Safety Executive) they have not cleaned the tank properly. You cannot leave limescale (a source of food for legionella bacteria) in a tank and claim it is cleaned.

I went back and forth for weeks and weeks. Eventually they told me they would come back and do the clean.

They missed the date they said they would and didn't respond to multiple phone calls and emails asking about when they would be back.

They finally agreed to return on the 11th of Feb.

What transpired is that they sub-contracted the work to another company who came, viewed the site and told me that they couldn't do what H2ochem had asked "get rid of the limescale" they would need to do a full tank clean (2-3 hours, drain the tank, chlorinate, etc) We couldn't have the toilets inaccessible for almost half a day and had to send them away. Now they are refusing to return saying we weren't willing to accommodate them without explaining that they didn't let us know this would be an extensive tank re-cleaning.

Do not trust or use H2ochem. They rush their jobs, do not do them properly, do not fill out reports properly and are terrible at communication.
