Great service from John Lewis and Gearing Landscape Services

Chris from Gearing Landscape Services did an amazing job reducing my hedge to half the size as well as thinning it out. Would definitely recommend them and John Lewis Services. It was great to liaise with a person on the end of the phone at John Lewis and the service provided was reliable, professional and friendly.

The plumbers are con men!!

The plumbers are con men! Tried to sell me a list of parts for my boiler which it did not need to hike up repair costs then tried to sell me a new boiler, it was one part that needed replacing. Paid less than £100 to British Gas! Avoid JL solutions !! I will not be using JL Solutions again!

A disappointing experience

I have used JLHS once before and had a very good experience. Unfortunately that was not true this time. I made two bookings. One has been cancelled twice, the second time within 24 hours of my making the booking for a date that was offered to me by JLHS in an email. It turns out that they have no tradesmen available in my area. So why offer the date in the first place?
The other booking was followed by a phone call from the contractor, whom I did not know, asking for my email address. I declined, as I would to any stranger asking for my address, and the contractor promptly cancelled the booking. JLHS have confirmed that the contractor had no authority to seek this information and that they will follow this up. That is good news but I still do not have my job done.

Great job, easy process

Booking with John Lewis home solutions was hassle-free and quick. They arranged a quote, then booked the job in. Matt and his team did a really good job installing our fence - they were helpful, friendly and the result looks great. All the rubbish removed, and they were considerate of the neighbours too.

Very impressed and grateful

It's not often a heating engineer does a 13-hour day on a Saturday to make sure your new boiler gets fitted and functioning. Greg kept in touch throughout the run-up to getting the work done, and although there was a delay in getting a confirmed date to fit the new boiler he made sure I at least had hot water from my old boiler for the duration. It wasn't a straightforward job, but not once did he complain or show any frustration. He's a super-reliable person, and I've always found the Home Solutions team really helpful too.

Met with the contractor for them to replace old drive with new

Met with the contractor for them to resurface the drive. Matthew promised to provide a quote in a few days.
Either Matthew or Home Solutions were slow to respond so I used another contractor instead.
Probably just as well I used someone else because almost two weeks later than promised Matthew's estimate was over 3 times as much the other contractors who had viewed the same job. I howled with laughter at the delusional estimate. Either way the cement work on my drive had long dried over and sand settled by the time I received the quote from Home Solutions arrived.

Not an experience I intend to repeat.

I booked gardening weed and tidy for…

I booked gardening weed and tidy for two hours at at price of almost £100. A day before arrival was told that two people would be doing one hour which is the same as one person doing two hours. Was not happy but accepted it.
When Silvia and her partner arrived they started doing the job but did a very poor job. Left my garden quite untidy and kept telling me to water the area so the weeds would be easier to pull out the next time and then had the nerve to charge me an additional £20 for an extra 15 mins.

Beware of Silvia. Just in it for the money. I have had people from Home Solutions before and they did a perfect job.

Excellent service

First time I've used this service & will certainly use again! Easy to use process, human being to talk to, efficient organising & kept informed at all times. Company arrived when they said, gave quote the next day, men arrived on time & did all the jobs as I'd asked . Brilliant.....thank you.

Svetoslav and his team did a superb job

Svetoslav and his team replaced our ten-year-old wooden fence with a new one - not only smarter but much sturdier and looking good for another ten years! They turned up on time, did an excellent job, tidied up afterwards and were pleasant, smiling and informative throughout. I would recommend them to anyone. I'm really happy with the service and consider it very good value for money.

Beware the call out charge

Booking process was good, provided full details of problem with shower and photos Booked in for a morning appt. Got a call mid morning to say would be 3pm. Not a problem.

Plumber arrived just after 3pm. Had a look at shower but he didn't really know anything about it. He phoned Mira, was on phone for 15minutes to their technical support, said he'd need to order part then come back. As I'd have to pay for this visit the part and labour it would probably be cheaper to get Mira to do their fixed price repair. He left and closed down the job after 25mins. I received the invoice for £70. Nowhere on the website does it say there is a call out charge. It says you're only charged when a job is completed and any additional work will be quoted and accepted before work takes place. Also I provided all the info at booking to enable the part to be identified, ordered and included in the quote before a visit. Overall very disappointed.
