All PAYMENTS are DEPOSIT
We booked a trip to travel in February 2024, 12 months in advance. My husband has now become too incapacitated to travel. I enquired on our options -change to another person to accompany me, cancel a portion of the trip with another person to accompany me (as the full trip would mean too long away from my husband) or to cancel.
The cost for another person to accompany was several thousand, the cost to cancel a portion of the trip with another person to accompany was still more that the original full trip and only 1/3 of the trip. We were initially advised that to cancel we would lose our deposit and some of the airfares. The disappointment is that they word their contract so that every payment you make towards your trip is deemed deposit and therefore you lose everything that you have paid.
I am struggling to understand why more than 200 days out from travel they insist they have committed all of our payments (deposits) of $10K. I have tried to work with them to find a cheaper solution so that I could at least take part of the trip, they delay responding and have not been pleasant at all.
In the end it would appear that they want me to pay about $15,000 for 7 days in India and it’s not even 5 stars.

As you would be aware, we utilise a number of wonderful travel partners and need to adhere to their relevant terms and conditions, as well as our own. The deposits you have mentioned are something that was discussed and agreed to at the time of booking, this isn't a factor that had changed or you were not fully informed about. Please know that our teams have worked their best to obtain a positive outcome for you and unfortunately, this is a circumstance where a travel insurance policy would be claimed upon.
I strongly recommend getting in touch with your insurance to see whether they can provide you with any options to lodge an insurance claim. As mentioned on the phone, I will follow up regarding your amendment requests today and ensure that someone gets in touch with you with the relevant information as soon as possible. I hope that we can provide a positive outcome for you that suits your circumstance and budget.

What made the experience great was the kindness and patience of Justin!!
What made the experience great was the help I received when ringing (often!) to clarify the process of finalising our cruise details , which was new to me. One young man stood out because of the lengths he went to make sure I had everything correct and also that I was aware of the final steps I needed to take in order to make sure everything was complete and I needed to do no more. His name was Justin . He did not rush me and even finished off the last part of our booking for us and emailed it through. Patient, pleasant and efficient. Who could ask for more?
