Speeding fine when I wasn't even in the country!

All was fine the with the car rental until a few months later I received an admin fee of £35 and a letter stating I had been speeding. I looked at the time and date of rental compared to the speeding fine and they were not consistent at all. I was actually in the UK waiting to fly to France at the time the speeding offence took place. This was clear to see if they had checked the time I had rented the car from. My bank managed to get back the £35 but more than a year later I am receiving letter and emails from a debt collection company called RECOCASH demanding payment. Upon receiving the fine I emailed Interrent several times including one complaint and did not have a single reply. It will be interesting to see how far they attempt to take this as this is a error on their part... I even received a letter from the French authorities to which I responded to.

BE AWARE of Interrent Car Rental

BE AWARE. Today I took the trouble to raise a claim against Interrent with the European Car Rental Conciliation Service only to be told that Interrent had WITHDRAW from the independent body only yesterday so the ECRCS couldn’t investigate my claim. I now will pursue through the small claim court as Interrent are woefull. Be aware that if you have a problem with Interrent you are now likely to be left to your own devices to achieve a satisfactory claim as they have delayed and blocked my claim in the hope I will lose interest. I won’t, as the guy on their Verona Airport, Italy desk last May is a crook and despite lots of contact Interrent have failed to prove to me that I signed for ‘peace of mind insurance’ despite declining twice at the desk on account of having an annual policy in place with insurance4carhire.com. I hire cars for typically 14 weeks a year and this is the very first time I’ve been scammed.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs! We returned the car with a full tank of gas; the staff at the drop-off location took the keys and thanked us without checking the car or having us sign anything. Five hours later we receive an email detailing the results of the “control” of the car: a €50 fine for allegedly not returning the car with a full tank of gas plus €9 for the amount of gas Inter Rent alleges was missing from the tank. We are contesting this. When we called the phone number for customer assistance, the call was picked up and went immediately to silence: no voice, no recording. We filled out the complaint form on InterRent’s website, which informed us that we would receive a response within 7 working days.

From our own experience and in light of the reviews of Inter Rent we have since been reading, this operation seems like a total scam to be avoided at all costs.

InterRent and GoldCar Rentals Spain

Under no circumstances use InterRent or GoldCar in Spain.
This company will charge very large sums to your credit card regardless of whether you have not had any incident. They refuse to examine the Vehicle when you return it, they just charge your card.
You will spend days trying to argue the case with no explanation.

Con artists!!!!!!!!!!!
Beware

SCAM!

SCAM!, got charged 900 euros on credit card 1 week after returning the car

Same problem as many reviews below, I got charged 900 euros on my credit card 5 days after I returned the car. When I returned it they said all was fine. I'm disputing the charge with my bank

Based on the reservation I made, it seems Interrent is also known as Buchbinder and Global Rent a Car, so stay away from these 3 companies.

Interrent now Goldcar is a scam!

I rented a car at Interrent but when I reached Barcelona Airport, Interrent was Goldcar. I should have noticed that on the homepage, but wasn't aware. I know Goldcar is a scam company and I should have found another place right away... But I didn't. My big mistake.

After returning the car it has been confirmed that Goldcar is a scam.
They have charged two damages (two minor scratches in the plastic) that was already in the car when I got it. I told the employee about the scratches (and many more) at the time of the pickup but he told me they where to small to register.
I took pics as I didn't trust them (and again it proved to be true that they can't be trusted.
But words and fotos don't help when you deal with pirates!

They did newer send me a check-out by mail as they should (the paper you get when you pickup the car) as they said they had my mail wrong.
When I asked them to send me the Check-out papers, they have sended me a document that has been made 8 days after I got the car, and that doesn't have my signature on. And the paper don't have half of the damages I pointed out at the pickup time.
But I'm still the one that have to pay!
The extra crazy thing is, that one of the things I have been charged for, is actually already pointed as an existing damage in the "fake" papers they have made.

But all this and the proves I have, don't have any effect on Interrent/Goldcar.
They have still charged med 310€.
So now I will probably see them in court as I have contacted a law firm that will run my case, as the scam is obvious. Several newspapers are also interested in this story.

By the way.. I have asked the car rental to send me proves of the damages, and the prove of the damage in the front, is a picture of the rear of the car...

I'll say no more, just tell you to keep away from this scam company and have a look at @GoldcarVictims on Twitter to see a lot of story's like this. My case is unfortunately not the only one.

And remember that Goldcar and Interrent is part of Europcar... I will boykot all Europecar-group until they stop the scam of goldcar/interrent. Hope you will do the same!

Worst car hire company I have ever…

Worst car hire company I have ever dealt with: avoid at all costs. Interrent are not even worth 1 star. Hired a car at Alghero airport. The vehicle was scratched and dented. When I returned it, the employee immediately went to the plastic wheel trims and said 2 of them had been damaged by me which was wholly untrue. (They were also minor scratches.) 10 weeks later I received an email with a bill of 143 euros for damage. The paperwork had been later amended and now included damage to a wing mirror. Never mentioned at the time and again very minor scratch not caused by me. Despite being able to provide my own copy which proved their fraud, I had no further response and nearly 5 months after the rental, discovered my credit card had been debited 186 euros. It's clearly a well practised scam which I will be sharing more widely on social media. It's worth noting that the dispute was handled by Europcar Italy so I would also avoid this company in future.

Booked VW Polo in Tenerife Airport from InteRent

Booked VW Polo via DoYouSpain, who I have used many times, but never InterRent before. We arrived almost three hours late, but at 17.00 hrs on Feb 3rd, so late afternoon. Yolande, girl at InterRent desk, said that we were 'no-show' as more than 2 hrs late from actual booked pick-up time and car 'not available' and contract void. I insisted she just give us another car and she said that cheapest available was 280E for the ten days. She kept repeating ' it all in terms and conditions' but did not have a copy available. I rang DoYouSpain and they found me a Fiat 500 at 164E with Europcar, the booth next door. I have checked InterRent t and c and cannot find any reference to this 'no-show' after two hours online. I book rentals 5 or 6 times a year, never had this rip-off before. Do You Spain were excellent and did best they could to solve problem at the time.

Crooks, Liars, Cheats, Pond Life, Ignorant B's

I thought i had been ripped of so many times that there must be at least one company that was Honest!!!
I booked through AutoEurope (Agent) and paid extra for added insurance. Arrived at Malaga Airport and was fobbed off with a Fiat 500 when I had paid for a Skoda Octavia!! Ended up with a crap Dacia
I advised the man behind the counter that I was not going to pay any extra for anything, he agreed and told me there would be nothing extra to pay. 3 days later on checking CC statement with an extra charge of £190.71 and have been trying to get them to refund with the help of ECCUK for the last 9 months. I will now take this to the small claims court as they have refused to respond to the ECCUK
Crooks, Liars, Cheats, Pond Life, Ignorant B's
Update as of 28th Feb 2019
ECCUK have given me another organisation to continue my compliant.
We have also spoken to the representative of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme called European Car Rental Conciliation Service (ECRCS). They have confirmed that this company is a member of this ADR scheme and that they may be able to consider your complaint ahead of you going to court. Please see their website below: search ecrcs (links not allowed)

Hope this helps, surely given the amount of bad reviews this company and the whole industry should be made to change!!
Please note that Interrent do not reply to e-mails sent to info@interrent (again links not allowed) either co uk or com

€80 Fee for delayed flight

€80 Fee for delayed flight! Do not use InterRent. In addition to all the bad practices listed here, they will charge you if you are late despite promising by phone to wait for us until 23:00. Two taxis and 12 hours later the next morning we were told to pay a “late pick up” penalty or this would be waived if we took the extra insurance for €120. Lesson learned: avoid companies like this and Gold Car. Always book "pay on arrival” - never prepay and above all never use InterRent!

If I could award this company no stars…

If I could award this company no stars then I would. I have had the misfortune to deal with them on two occasions now and this proved that the first bad experience wasn't a one off as the second was equally, if not more, worse than the first. It seems to me that they offer cheap prices but then get more money out of you one way or another. The first time was the insurance upgrade, which I wasn't going to fall for a second time and took out my own additional cover, and the second was having to add me as an additional driver in order to make payment on my credit card. My husband and I were travelling together. He drives, I pay! That's always worked for us! But this time Interrent wouldn't allow me to use my credit card if my husband was the driver. So I had to pay nearly 3 times the agreed hire cost to add me as a driver. The customer service agent was extremely rude. He said he couldn't amend the contract to put me as the main driver and thus enable me to pay but he could, miraculously, amend the contract to add me as an additional driver and thus take the fee. Then we had to carry out a DVLA check to show no driving endorsements (never have we had to do this before) and this required your NI number. I have no idea of mine but luckily my husband knew his otherwise we would have been refused the car … again! This check was carried out on my phone. If I'd not had internet Interrent would charge an additional £20 to do the search for you. I shall never use this company again. They are highwaymen and I hope they go out of business soon. Surely with their track record they won't be able to maintain a client base. Shocked and distressed by the whole experience.

Don't Use Inter Car at Any Price.

I have hired cars in Spain many, many times. Inter rent were without doubt by far the worst I have ever experienced. I will not bore you with the details other than a three hour wait for a car. The last half hour cause by the only assistant going for her lunch and the car cleaner not bothering to bring it to us after giving the high mileage, rough old shed of a car a cursory wash and brush up. Do not go near them at any price, I have since read that they came out worst in a Which customer survey. Very well deserved.

Awful customer service at Interrent/Goldcar Malaga. Such a shame as the car was amazing value for money. Don't let them pressure you into purchasing their expensive CDW insurance waiver. Get an annual policy from the internet for half the price of their weekly one.

Appalling and cynical approach to customer service

I am aware that Interrent rental prices are low and that staff are clearly incentivised and encouraged to sell as many upgrades/ancillary products as possible. Today whilst picking up a pre-reserved rental car (reserved directly from Interrent I might add) I was told I had to provide further proof of address. I had already provided driving licence (with address clearly marked), credit card, passport and printed copy of DVLA code.
I went online to get an online bank statement to show the person at the counter but she told me that would not be adequate as it had to be something that was posted to me. Along with a large percentage of people, I do not have bank statements posted to me.

I am already in the Interrent database as I have been a customer on several occasions over the last few years. The person at the counter found me on her system with no problem - and so clearly had a record of my address.

As I could not provide a further proof of address which was satisfactory to her, she said my only option was to take the excess insurance which was a further £116. In fact she told me if I did not take it I could not get the reserved car. I spoke to a person at the Interrent head office who told me that this policy was clearly marked on the terms and conditions. It is not clearly marked, I have been to this and other offices several times and have never been required to show this before. The fact that I could have shown her a bank statement online with my address - and that was not satisfactory for Interrent - is ridiculous.

The person’s manner and way she continued the discussion amounted to blackmail. I was at the office at the Car Rental Village at Stansted Airport. She told me that there were no other cars available in the whole “village” but that I was welcome to go and try to find another one. Interrent however would not refund my current booking.

After a long journey and an early start I gave up arguing. I began my journey and found that the car was not full, as stated it would be in the rental agreement. I have paid a £99 fuel deposit, and I suspect vey strongly that if I return the car with the same amount as when I found it, this will not be acceptable and my deposit will deducted. So this is another way that Interrent are able to swindle customers.

I am appalled at this cynical treatment of the customer.

I have requested that after this current rental period is over that my details be completely removed from both Interrent and Europcar databases. I have yet to receive an assurance that this will happen.

The reviews say it all

The reviews say it all, just wish I'd read them before I rented!. Lanzarote airport. Full to full on fuel and they have taken £29 "smart return" charge which I apparently paid the option for when pre paying through Ryanair although this is contrary to Ryanair's rental voucher and what I was told at the desk. Luckily I had a torch with me as the car was battered well beyond their pre-completed damage check when we picked it up from a very dimly lit multi storey. You would not have seen the damage without a torch and being on guard due to the desk practically forcing you in to take their waiver insurance. If the directors need these tactics in order to make profit they should not be allowed to run a business. Never again!

Tenerife Car Hire Rip Off

I was charged double for car hire that I was expected for all extra charges on the top. Such as Flex Fuel (don't know what is it), some Airport tax. Plus at the end they took another 30 Euros for Special Cleaning from my credit card without my permission and knowledge . Make sure you wash your car before return! Despite the fact that I paid Full Cover for the car and I did not need to care about anything.
I wish I read the review before....
Worst car hire experience ever.

If I could give this company a minus…

If I could give this company a minus status I would. Just had to cancel my credit card due to them trying to claim 31.53 pounds Uk and the bank txting me to confirm it was me in NICE ….yeah four months ago, I rang Nice they said the details I gave wouldn't allow them to trace the hire. Photo graphed the contract I was given at their office and emailed them the picture etc numerous times. NO reply. The whole experience as the worst I HAVE EVER known with a hire company and then to try and take more funds months later beggars belief. DO NOT even think of using this shower of cowboys...ever.

Crooks

Arrived late due to a flight delay and got charged 40 EUR at Gran Canaria airport, they also added 13 EUR for "Smart return" whatever that is, you simply park the car and leave the keys in a steel box, they should give US discount as they do nothing upon returning. The staff member just shrugged when i said it wasn't my fault as the flight was delayed. Never again.

Avoid this company they are crooks.

There are many companies around that are cheaper and nicer to deal with.
