Enjoying the chaise I purchased.

I booked an appointment to see and order a chaise in January of this year.
The team was very patient to explain some of the differences in fabric and legs, and wait while I reconsidered some of my choices.
The communications around the delivery and payments was very clear.
When the chaise arrived it was well packaged, and the delivery team helped to install it in place.
I've had it for about 8 months now and I still greatly enjoy it. My youngist insists that it is my new favourite child.

Ordered our sofas in June 2021

Ordered our sofas in June 2021, haven't reviewed until now as feel you don't know quality of something until you've had it a while.
Was extremely happy with service and helpfulness/knowledge of staff from visiting showroom to delivery.
I ordered 2 sofas, one individualised dimensions, the design and quality has been excellent, I opted for the firmer cushions and Warwick Mystere green fabric, the sofas still look great and the fabric wears really well despite 2 dogs regularly jumping on and off.

Really dissatisfied with our sofa

Really dissatisfied with our sofa. We had issues with the seat cushions puddling when it arrived and we took the cushions back to be reviewed. They were adjusted and the puddling was worse. We took them back again and were told there was no issue and if we wanted them remaking we would have to pay for that. The seat cushions puddle and crease no sooner than we have sat in them and they aren’t wearing well at all. Shame that this company denied any issue when there clearly was one.

Further to your reply which I cannot reply to, we told you at the time that the settee was puddling badly. We told you that what you were experiencing when you ‘applied your knee to the cushion’ was not what we were experiencing as the fabric was not recovering quickly for us. We came out of our way twice to bring the cushions to you for review. We told you what you did initially to improve the cushion had made it worse and you didn’t want to help further without charging us. In wear this settee does not stand up. This is why I have reviewed it now.

This is the first correspondence we have had since 23rd June 2021. We had your seat cushions in our factory and put them under rigorous testing. We checked both your seat interiors and cases against our cutting patterns and they were correct. Sitting on the cushions normally for a few minutes, we hardly saw any movement, or puddling in the top of the cover. To really make an indent in the fabric, we had to put our knees into the cushions, which is extreme and not how cushions should normally be sat on. Even so, the fabric recovered immediately when dressing the cover which took a matter of seconds. We provided you with a video to show you how this is done. We offered to replace your seat cushions with a firmer grade of foam so you did not sink as much into the cushions. This was offered to you at our cost price of £45 per cushion. We have not heard back from you since this.

Top Service

I researched Long Eaton Sofas after word of mouth,I made an appointment and visited. Upon arrival we were greeted and were not rushed at all, plenty of advice and time. It was explained that every piece of furniture was made Bespoke to the individual which is absoloutly perfect . There are so many samples to choose from which makes it more difficult. We came away ordered,but on returning home I decided that I wanted a different fabric, but that was not a problem staff sent me other samples and I didn't loose my place in production line.
My new sofa was delivered on the 13th November by 2 lovely Guy's and is absolutely top quality.
I fully recommend Long Eaton Sofas to anyone ,top class service.

What a brilliant shop this is

What a brilliant shop this is! It was recommended by a family member and we were not disappointed. We were given extremely good advice, wonderful personal service with a huge range of styles and pretty much any fabric you could wish for, as well as really super after sales care and delivery. Our two new sofas look stunning and we could not be more delighted. Whilst we paid a little more than the average high street chain, it was worth every penny to have exactly what we wanted 😀

A great experience

We just took delivery of our new sofa and armchair and are very happy with the wide and customisable choice available, and the quality of the product and service we received. Long Eaton Sofas is a friendly and professional business to deal with. We visited the showroom four times while concluding our choice and were patiently helped by all of the staff with whom we came into contact. A great experience and thoroughly recommended.

Sadly for us, not a happy experience.

I firstly was very disappointed that Long Eaton had used the fabric I had supplied sideways or ‘railroaded’ as I’ve now been told is the term used. Even plain fabrics can have ridges or slubs that look very different if not used with the weft going across as intended and which would have looked nicer.
We asked for our sofa to have soft foam seat cushions but the foam was hard without an inner case and no wadding to soften the hard edges. We then paid Long Eaton for two new Quallofil seat cushion pads to replace the foam ones but as we feared, the new seat cushions do not recover their shape or bounce back when you stand up. Even after extreme plumping actions several times a day there’s always a dent where we sit. Bad advice was given to us at the showroom about increasing the height of the back support cushions, which they did do but with no support from the low back of the sofa frame the cushions were too high and just toppled over the back of the sofa. Long Eaton did eventually offer to shorten them as a token of goodwill but I’d already started altering them myself which I did, so now at least they are lower and don’t fall backwards.
In conclusion we are not happy with the comfort of our sofa as it wasn’t the treat we thought it would be and we wouldn’t travel all that way again from Sussex to Nottingham, twice, to buy a sofa.

As explained to you, we railroad all plain fabrics. The reason we railroad fabrics, is to ensure there are no sewn joins on the panels that are larger than the fabric width allows (seat front, bottom border, seat platform, inside back and outside back). We believe that this makes the finished piece of furniture neater and a much better finish when they are without joins, which can sometimes look unsightly. The fabric that was supplied by yourself, has slubs running in both directions and it does not have a visible pile. The linen/cotton has an open weave (you can almost see through it when you hold it up to the light). In our experience, sewn joins should be avoided on this type of fabric as they would be a potential weak point and are much stronger in one piece. On the sample we have left, the fabric frays very easily on the cut edges so if used with sewn joins, they could suffer from seam slippage and eventually tear. For longevity and to avoid this potential problem, we believe that railroading this fabric was the correct thing to do.

Regarding your seat cushion fillings, you contacted the showroom on a Saturday morning, within minutes of delivery saying they were too firm. We advised to you that they were brand new and so always arrive slightly firmer, but after a little use they soften off. (From the images provided the sofa was still in its packaging in your garage). Our foam cushions are manufactured using a 5.5" foam block that is then wrapped in 475 gram Dacron fibre and finally wrapped in stocking net.

Comfort is very subjective, and this is why we offer 5 seat cushion fillings and 4 back cushion fillings, and this is down to the customer to decide which filling best suits their needs of comfort and maintenance.

You decided to go ahead and order 2 x new seat cushions in a softer Quallofil fibre filling the following Tuesday. We have not heard of any issues with these fillings until this review. These cushions come with a 5 year guarantee from our supplier, so please contact the office if you feel they are not as they should be and we can make a claim with our supplier.

As all our customers are able to, you decided to bespoke your sofa. You increased the height of the back cushions by 6cm compared to our standard model and altered the shape of the back cushions so they did not go over the arm. Altering specifications is not something we go out of our way to suggest. We spend a lot of time and effort when developing new models, but If a customer requests extra height on back cushions, we will accommodate the change.

You visited our showroom on 23rd February, and then placed your order on 12th April. You did then book to visit us again on Friday 10th June to finalise your cushion fillings and leg choices. This second appointment was cancelled by yourself and instead you called the office to finalise these options.

We are upset you are not happy with your purchase from us as we pride ourselves on our quality of both product and service.

FANTASTIC QUALITY FURNITURE

TOOK DELIVERY OF OUR SOFAS TODAY

Before we buy, we always carry out extensive research because both my wife and I enjoy quality and excellence. At Long Eaton Sofas all the boxes are ticked. All the furniture is manufactured in their own factory and customers can even have a factory tour if they wish. Many of the employees have worked there for years and that is always a good sign that they carry out their work with pride. I have worked in the large sofa retailers and the quality of the products do not come close to Long Eaton Sofas. My wife and I made two visits to Long Eaton Sofas and the staff were fantastic. Debra was very knowledgeable and addressed every one of our queries in a friendly and polite manor. Debra has worked at Long Eaton Sofas for around 20 years and many of the staff have worked there for long periods as well. It is very friendly, and customers are left to browse at leisure not once did my wife and I Feel that there was any pressure applied in fact we were not approached once we did the asking when we need advice.

No hard feelings

I was ready to buy a sofa and love seat from Long Eaton Sofas, unfortunately both my wife and I were unable to visit the showroom because we both have/had mask exemptions and upon informing L.E.S of this I was called by someone at the showroom who asked me about my medical history so as to ascertain whether I was (telling the truth) or was suitably ill. I was informed that they have vulnerable staff and I guess its just a decision they have made as a company and I respect that.
however that one intrusive question has ensured that I have now spent £3000 at DFS which was not going to be my first option.
you guys were my first option because I really want to support the kind of family run business you seem to be, maybe i'll try again when I need another sofa.

You booked an appointment on 04/01/22 to visit our showroom on 07/01/22. You then rearranged the appointment on 06/01/22 to visit on 14/01/22 giving the reason "My wife has had a positive test back. She has no symptoms but obviously its the sensible thing to do." It was not only the sensible thing to do, but also the legal requirement at the time. I then called you out of courtesy on 13/01/22 to check whether your wife was fully recovered from covid-19 and you were ok to make your appointment the following day. During the phone call I did not ask for your medical history or ask if you were suitably ill, all I asked was for your reason for both you and your partner having mask exemption. As a business we have a duty of care to both our staff and customers and due to your jovial response to this request I made the decision to cancel your appointment. I am glad to see you have been able to find new furniture to meet your requirements.

It is a pity that Jess Marsh is not telling the whole story.
The chair was purchased from our showroom as a sold as seen ex display piece. They bought further furniture from another local company and they signed for it as received in good condition when they collected on their behalf.That company collected the furniture, stored for months and then delivered it with the other furniture they purchased.
It could have been damaged during collection transport to their warehouse, during storage or the final delivery.
Despite this we said that we would examine the furniture if it is returned to us for to inspect it and try and establish what has happened.
Miss Marsh insists that we collect it from their home over 100 miles away and reupholster it.
My belief is that the chair has been incorrectly stored in a damp area inside a heavy duty polythene bag which has caused the fabric and thread to rot.

Faulty patchwork chair and awful service

I purchased a patchwork, wing chair from Long Eaton Sofas and after just 6 months of use the stitching started coming apart on the seams of a particular fabric. After approaching the owner, I was fobbed off repeatedly and eventually told that it must have been damaged in storage and/or transit and was basically nothing to do with them. This is crazy as clearly if it arrived damaged, I would have notified them on delivery. After having the chair independently reviewed by other experts in the field I have received reports to say this is not the case, the seams are coming apart due to poor workmanship. I have consequently had to make a section 75 credit card claim to get the cost of the repair recovered as Long Eaton will not take ownership of the problem. Would never deal with this company again as they were dishonest and clearly do not value their customers.
