Defective GPU in Mr12Volt device

I have received a defective unit and Mr12volt support agreed to send me a new unit, but after some time they stopped responding to my messages and reed them only.

Just fitted the Mr12Volt system to Jaguar XK 5.0

Just fitted the Mr12Volt system to my 2010 Jaguar XK 5.0 and I have to say I'm thrilled with the results!

Driving a few hire cars for work I got to experience how good Apple Car Play, etc is and it irritated me when I got back into the Jag that the standard OEM kit, as advanced as it was for the day, didn't have the same connectivity or ability to use all the streaming services, Wayz, etc.

Install was relatively straightforward if you know your way around cars and have basic electronic skills.

It's essentially all "plug and play" with no soldering

Be extra careful with the ribbon connectors as these are different from one head unit PCB to another. The top layer tens to be the flip up type while the lower ones are mostly actioned by pushing the small black tabs at their edges away from the connector then back again.

I also found the jags interior trim one of the easiest to remove and refit of any car I've worked on.

I absolutely love my XK and now this unit has removed the only niggle I had about it.

Amazing piece of kit!

4 stars rather than 5 because the QR code in the package points to an installation manual website that doesn't list jaguar and the otherwise brilliant YouTube video goes bit fast to follow (play it at half speed) and doesn't show some of the connections being made on refitting (but TBH you probably shouldn't be attempting the job if you can't figure stuff like this out)

Terrible 😒

The product works, rarely it doesn’t switch on with the car and need to be reset; it could obviously work better in terms of interaction (the way of interacting with the system by using the existing buttons needs to be reimplemented, it’s a mess).
The customer care is a rubbish: no one answers by mail, on WhatsApp you can wait months for an answer, however without solving your problems.
Based on the price of their products, their service is completely disrespectful.

Excellent way to upgrade a Jaguar audio / video unit

The unit is brillliant and really improves the video / audio experience in my Jaguar XK. The OEM unit is very antiquated and I initially replaced it with a Tesla style unit but this involves replacing the whole centre console which spoils the look and is very costly. The Mr 12v unit connects to the existing system, with just some mods required (follow instructional video carefully) and you can get support if you are stuck. Best to buy direct from the UK dealer, Liam who is v helpful. Great audio and all works as it should. Go to the Jag FB groups for more help and tips.

Nice product well made and it works…

Nice product well made and it works unlike some others! However some volume muting during music playback due to something going on on the iPhone which does not happen in my other CarPlay equipped vehicles. Have loaded new firmware today hoping it will cure the irritating problem. 3 stars because tech support is shocking! 3 chat requests over the last few months to try to discuss this issue with no answer and no follow up even though they say they will.

Upgrade Jaguar XKR (2009) entertainment system

Really excellent upgrade for Jaguar XKR infotainment. The system on a 2009 Jaguar XKR is very stone age. It has a USB connection for a phone, but in practice it is hard to use and does not always work. I bought the Mr12volt adaptor kit and fitted it myself with help from the installation video on YouTube. You will need trim removal tools. The bezel surrounding the radio console is tough to get off, so you need some patience. Understanding how to disconnect the optical cable in the trunk/boot is simple enough once you work out how to do it (the video is not much help here). The video (played back at very slow speed) is excellent on what to do with all of the electronics and is simple to follow - just take your time. Once that is done, plugging all of the connectors back into the unit is also fairly straightforward. The video does not cover this very well, but given that the plugs will only go into their male/female counterparts, it is all quite logical. You need to take care though with the optical connections as it is possible to misconnect these, but if you freeze frame on the video and take care, it will be fine. The result is car play available at last and it brings all of the modern infotainment/nav/music etc to your car via your phone (iphone in my case). I had been looking for something like this at a reasonable price for years, and for £340, it is excellent. A big thumbs up to Liam Biggs who supplied it (you can find him on Messenger), and who was extremely quick to respond and help out with useful installation tips. I guess it took me about 4 hours, but that did include head scratching time !
