Dangerously illegal It will destroy your credit rating
I used PayPal credit for one payment which was the biggest mistake of my life. I made first payment and set up a direct debit on the same day which i have email confirmation. Paypal fails to notify regarding the up coming payment and fail to withdraw minimum payment even though i had more then enough money in account. I logged in to check if they took the money or not, it was two days over, payment was due on 1st and i checked it on 3rd, and they didn’t take the payment so i cleared whole balance in one go. Paypal reports and missed payment to credit agency and i get notification from them, my credit score drops down from 966 to 600. I called PayPal, but they have extremely rude staff he acts like a God, his tune was so unacceptable and blaming me, and saying i am lying about direct debit even i have confirmation email from them, i raised complaint but they refused to remove missed payment even i did not miss any payment, i paid in full even before the agreed time because their system failed. I spoke so so many people on forums almost everyone had same experience. I don’t understand how can FCA allow this type of illegal activity, they failed to comply their legal obligations of direct debit and failed to notify prior to payment due date and misuse of power to jeopardise people credit record. I would be filling a suit against them, following petition to ban them. Avoid avoid avoid them
Exceptionally confusing system.
Exceptionally confusing system.
If you have multiple items outstanding, its impossible to specify which ones you want to pay off.
Its a lottery as to which does get paid off.
Even worse if you clear all monies outstanding so your balance is zero - they will still charge you the amount on the previous months statement!
So if paying off early, like I did, make sure you pay off everything except the minimum amount shown on your last statement - as that will be taken anyway.
Then close your PayPal account and direct debits to avoid further payments being taken.
Worst credit system I've ever used.
I do not trust Paypal Credit
I do not trust Paypal Credit , be warned the interest is very high and it quickly mounts up
Dangerous Paypal credit scheme
Phoned paypal since my pay app is not working and requires documents to be sent. Asked the paypal agent to sort out my app and if I owe paypal any money since I have my credit on direct debt. Also it doesnt show on my account that I owe paypal. I was reassured that it was all paid for. Few days ago I look into my paypal app and still not working. Called them yesterday to find out that I still owe them £700. Shocking! Direct debts didn't go through and apparently after 90days you won't be able to see your debts online. The only way for you to know is to call paypal payment. No you cant pay it online or through bank. The only way to oay it is through calling them. I was then reassured that I don't have a time limit when to pay and guess what, I received an email stating that I should pay within 28days. I will be reporting this event to the financial ombudsman.
Awful service. STAY AWAY
Awful service, all they are out to do is hide what you owe so they can charge you interest. Don't bother using their credit service as your debt will skyrocket. All these reviews as sadly TRUE!!
They present you with a total amount that can't be explained by their staff.
incorrect charging terrible support
interface is rubbish, customer support in almost non existent, ai bot is dumb, incorrect charging - what can i say - big disappointment with PayPal credit
Be cautious
**UPDATE** Since contacting PayPal support, I am happy to say that they confirmed my missed Direct Debit payment has not impacted my credit history as their initial letter had suggested. What's more, PayPal refunded the £12 late fee to my account.
This is a satisfactory outcome. As such, I have adjusted my review from 1 star to 3 starts.
The reason it remains at 3 stars is because the Direct Debit I had set up did not initiate a payment, which caused this issue. I still would not use Pay Pal Credit again as I cannot trust that the Direct Debit will work.
**ORIGINAL**
Avoid – there are no warnings for a missed payment, just an instant default notification that affects your credit score.
I bought a phone with PayPal credit and set up a Direct Debit on their portal. The Direct Debit failed to initiate, which means that I missed the payment. Instead of issuing a notification, I just got a collections letter in the post.
I have since settled the entire outstanding amount and will never use them again.
If the reader chooses to use them, I strongly recommend making the payment manually or checking on the day that your payment was initiated.
Don't use never takes payments on the…
Don't use never takes payments on the due date. It's was was set up to take regular payments on due dates. Contacted them to sort the problem out. They blame you not there systems. Stay Clear
Avoid
Avoid. Have for 2 years and last 3 months are nightmare. Direct debit not going through and customer service just ignore problem.
Paypal credit is a con
Paypal credit is a con. They offer you 4 months interest free credit on purchases over £100 if paid off before the end of the credit period. This is fine if you only have one purchase. If you then get more purchases, it will pay a part off all of them, not the first in line.
Example: You buy an item in January for £100. You pay £25 in Feb, you pay £25 in March, you pay £25 in April. In May you buy something for another £100. You pay £25 which should clear the first payment, but that payment goes on the May purchase, because they always pay off the highest amount first, leaving you still owing £25 on the first payment, which then charges interest. You have no option which to pay, they just decide. DO NOT USE
Obscure rules, just use a credit card
Setup payment plan for £75 month, 2 weeks before1st payment due. First direct debit takes £250 because that's what was paid in a previous direct debit payment last paid 1 year ago. Useles, will close account asap
Think PayPal credit needs looking at…
Think PayPal credit needs looking at you have now pay later at a fixed apr they wait until you reach £300 and every other day they will change their terms and conditions to deliberately add more interest. Will be reporting this to a watch dog have paid more interest then have on goods avoid PayPal credit at all cost its a financial trap
Big Scam
Big Scam. Use PayPal Credit if u wanna keep paying debts n interest loans. Been paying my direct debits ontime but amount never seems to get cleared due to high interest rate. Paid everything out of frustration. Credit was less that £500
Feedback Regarding Credit Line Adjustment
Dear PayPal Credit Team,
I am writing to share my experience with your credit line services. I originally had a $4,000 credit line, which I responsibly used and paid on time without any missed payments. However, during a family emergency when my father was hospitalized for three months, I utilized $3,535 of my credit line to manage expenses.
To my surprise, I received an email notifying me that my credit line was reduced to $3,550, even though I was staying within my limit and maintaining timely payments. This action felt discouraging and gave me the impression that your team reduced my limit out of concern when they saw a higher utilization rate.
Currently, my balance is $3,460, and while I have the means to pay off a significant portion of my debt or even pay it off entirely, I am hesitant to do so. This is because I worry that if I reduce my balance significantly, my credit line will be lowered again, leaving me without access to funds during another potential emergency.
This policy, in my opinion, discourages responsible borrowers like me from making large payments, as there are no guarantees that the credit line will remain available. I hope PayPal Credit will reconsider this practice, as it impacts customer trust and financial confidence during critical times.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my feedback. I value your services and hope this can help improve the experience for customers like me in the future.
Absolutely shocking company
Absolutely shocking company. I make regular payments on the due date it says status of payment completed, they then give me more credit and about a week or so later the payment is returned unpaid and then I end up overdrawn on bank account. This happens constantly. Avoid at all costs!!
Telephone call to your credit team
I phoned and spoke to a member of your credit team today.
His name was Lawrence.
Just want to say the young man could not have been pleasanter or more helpful.
He sorted my problem out quickly and efficiently and
explained kindly exactly what needed to be done to change the date of my direct debit account payment.
So few people are as patient when dealing with the elderly.
Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated
all the help he gave me.
Best wishes
Chris McKeefry
I should be able to put a zero!!
I should be able to put a zero!!!
I paid a payment amount by card from my new bank and cancelled my old DD on my old account. I had about 6 calls to sort, I don’t know what exactly as there was nothing due. PayPal reversed this one off payment (made 8 Nov) on the 22 Nov and tried to take a DD for the same amount! It’s a total joke, I won’t be using again and closing my account.

Regulated by the FCA?
Why is it impossible to close a PPCredit account online.
Why should it take 3 calls
I had 1000 credit. Bought an item, paid the amount back into the account no more than 10 days later.
This payment was made on the 21st of last month. It's the first of the new month.
The payment is apparently showing as pending even though my balance states 0 owing on the account.
I have to wait a further 3 days?
I reduced the limit to the amount that is (painfully pending).
After this, I will not only close the PP Credit but also my own PP Account.
What is the actual point. You're wasting my time, and your agents.
In a world where good payment option exist. What. is. the. actual. point. of. Paypal. F. Credit. ?

Someone used my PayPal credit and spent 571.99 , there is no trace of it just it’s been added to my PayPal credit balance , I rang up numerous times and got no where can’t tell me who it’s been paid too and refuse to take it off so I now have to pay it and I haven’t made any transaction for that amount
