I requested further information regarding the increase in our pet insurance. I was assured that a note had been added to the system and I would get a phone call back to discuss this in more depth, I didn't hear anything back and the policy was automatically renewed in the meantime.
Previous to this my experience had been really good. Claims were dealt with quickly and with no hassle.

Spoke to a customer service rep called yesh and he was brilliant listened to all my needs explained the full cover and answered all my questions after agreeing to all the terms and condition which were explained as well i took out the cover the email came through straight away and a paper copy arrived in the post 2 days later will definitely be recommending pet guard to everyone

Beware pet insurance companies
We have been paying over £90 a month to insure our Jack Russell that we have had from 8 weeks old. When we signed up to them they quoted a monthly cost (that has risen annually). When we recently lost our dog not only did we have to cope with this very stressful and upsetting situation But Petguard twisted the knife a little further.
We put the claim in after weeks and weeks of trying to save Ringo only for Petguard to deduct not only the £100 excess, not only the 20% of the total claim but went on to deduct a further £547.00 which they say are unpaid premiums.
So, before you sign up to any pet insurance check the small print in the Ts & Cs.

6 month issues with direct debit and rude customer service
I have taken a policy out with Pet guard from January. Since then there has been ongoing issues with the direct debit, through no fault of my own but their systems. When I sent email, they are not responded to. I appreciate there has been COVID-19 and how businesses work have had to change with working from home, however customer service I received today had little to be desired.
I called as once again received an email stating direct debit didn’t work and policy is going to be cancelled. Since this has been happening from February and they set up the direct debit again end of April, none of this was taken into account. I said I had emailed about the problem and had no response, the lady I spoke with (funnily enough didn’t give me her name) said well their are hundreds of emails coming through so they’re for when it’s not important. She said “Well you could have called us as we’re open to 7”. I explained that I was working full time and have a baby so not available until after 7, hence the email and why offer it as part of your service if you don’t respond to them.
I mentioned I had an email from Pet Guard asking when they could call and I responded a time within 1/2 hour and still didn’t have a call back. She couldn’t state the reason why. All she wanted was the missed payments paid.
As previously mentioned, this has all been an issue with Pet Guard’s system and not with me. To be spoken the way I was is unacceptable and hope that other customer service representatives are more empathetic to a situation with other customers when it isn’t there fault. I know people with pet insurance coming up for renewal and I will not be recommending this company as they cannot sort their financial system out or speak politely on the phone.
