I used PGH Pest Control to eradicate a moth infestation in our house. I found from the moment they picked up the phone to the day they came and carried out the treatment to be very professional and courteous, would definitely use again if the need arose.

Friendly and superb knowledge!

We contacted PGH with an issue in our loft, but was unclear exactly what was going on. Brandon on the phone made me feel very at ease explaining what it could be and what can be done. A survey was booked and the problem was identified as bats! I can sleep much better now!! Fantastic company very helpful staff

The guys at PGH are a great team.

The guys at PGH are a great team.
They resolved a long-standing quite particular issue we had in a garden studio. ( which Rentokil FAILED TO...even though they charged £800!)
We are very happy that we can finally use the studio again.
We would highly recommend PGH.

Absolutely fantastic service from start…

Absolutely fantastic service from start to finish! I enquired as I have caught 4 mice in my property myself and was so unsure how they were getting in. PGH attended my flat and found multiple entry points, produced a full report for me and a quotation for the proofing works which did come with a guarantee! The office staff are very knowledgeable and didn't apply any hard sale tactics. Our whole flat block has now booked to use them!

Excellent inspection and diagnostics

We have suffered from serious damp and mould issues in our house and our property manager has hired several companies to inspect the damage. PGH deals with these matters as damp can lead to pest issues with wood work etc. They were the only company that managed to diagnose and prove a presence of 3 different types of damp whereas other companies didn't even bother bring a damp meter to test the walls. Peter was very efficient and honest. He also advised ways to reduce the healty risks in the meantime. Would definitely recommend.

Not recommended.

Unfortunate experience. Overpriced (we are talking about £600 + for 3 visits and not able to provide a written pricing policy), problem not solved (they asked for a further £200 to solve the problem) and non responsive to customer service queries, despite writing directly to the owner.

Professional team

From the first contact with the office, to the job of pigeon proofing our solar panels and repairing the roof, we were impressed with the service we received and the professional team sent to do the work. Thank you PGH, we are more than happy to recommend you.

Do not employ Mr Higgs under any circumstance - the television programme 'Hustle' springs to mind

I am posting a second review because Mr Higgs persists in trying to justify his unjustifiable charges. We did take him to court. We did not understand the process and lost because of the cleverly worded contract – see the rest of this review.
THERE IS NO NEED TO REMOVE BEES. National Trust properties leave them in situ for many years.
Don’t be taken in by the fact that he appears to be endorsed by the Prince’s Trust. We have queried this with the Trust. They seem to be uninterested in his questionable business practices.
We employed Mr Higgs in October 2017. The whole experience has been so traumatic and damaging to us, that we have not had the energy to post any reviews until now. Mr Higgs told us that we would run into endless problems if we left bees in our chimney. He gave us a very cleverly worded contract implying that the job would take much longer and be far more complex than it turned out to be. We were naïve enough to sign it. He charged £8000+ for a short survey, 3 hrs of his time and 6 hrs each for a technician and a labourer, a cherry picker for a day and minimal materials. He priced the job and what he thought he could get us to pay, not what it was really worth. I cannot think of any professional or tradesperson who charges or can justify this sort of money, regardless of their qualifications. KEEP YOUR PROBLEM, RATHER THAN EMPLOY BEEGONE, OR PGH PEST CONTROL. Find another company.

Dear JO. Thank you for your comments and reviews on a job done over a year ago. You did take us to court and we won. We gave and you accepted a detailed fixed quotation before work commenced, for the specialised and technical service of removing (and re-homing) bees live from your chimney which included access, proofing, building work and a guarantee for ten years.

I AGREE with you when you say it like you have, it sounds a lot for bee removal..

However when you break it down its not just bee removal, for example working at height and removing angry bees from a building alive is not a cheap exercise as its specialized labour which is dangerous with many risks if not done right). And we do all the work in house and we do not subcontract it out.

You had the quote for around 3 months before we started the work and asked many questions before the work went ahead. We were very surprised at this situation and especially feedback like this after such a long time after the works.

On my site consultation you even told me that no one else said they could do the work and that you were very impressed that I knew how to get up there and how to do the work. You also told me you didn't feel confident in anyone else and that they didn't sound like they even knew what they were talking about.

I have invested in training my people very well and have systems in place to do the work efficiently, carefully and safely so no damage is caused to the property when we do this work or my people and of course yourselves. On the quotes it states CLEARLY that a benefit of Beegone is that the bee removal work is carried out over a few days. Inclusive of set up time before site arrival and caring for the bees of site once removed..

We have been trading for over ten years now and have a good reputation with many customers which is very important to me and I do care.

As the Judge said on the day in court we had, "the fact the work was done so efficiently and professionally can only be to Beegones credit therefore I see no reason for non payment"

I take pride in my work and my business and for what we have all achieved here and as the Judge also said, "Beegone take their work seriously".

We are very sorry you still feel this way and the need to post comments on every social media and review site we are on such a long time after our involvement.

Terrible and dishonest

Terrible and dishonest - save your money.

We had a terrible experience with PGH pest control who we paid a significant amount of money to, to control a mouse problem which they did not do. We had to approach another company who sorted it out straight away - and we have not had any problems for a year now. PGH deliberately set out to not fix issues so they can return to the property on multiple occasions and charge for each visit. They are a fundamentally dishonest company as other reviews show. We have written to the princes’s trust to complain about their endorsement. We have also tried to write reviews on various websites but the company have consistently reported the reviews. They even changed their facebook page settings so no reviews could show due to the number of similar negative experiences accusing them of dishonesty. Please save your money and stay away from this company.

Be wary of this business

I had bees in my chimney. Beegone part of PGH Pest Control greatly exaggerated the risks and the amount of work required to correct. I was told the chimney stack had to be taken down by more than 1 metre and the flue had to be cleared from below by breaking in through brick and plaster within the house. I signed a fixed price contract on this basis for over £8000. They removed the bees, and swept the chimney by removing and replacing the chimney pot. This took 3 men less than a day to complete. A chartered surveyor estimated the cost of the work done to be £2000. I subsequently learnt that in some National Trust properties there have been bee infestations for years without ill effects. Perhaps it did not need doing at all? I feel I have been conned out of £6000.

Expensive and poor customer service

I had bees that took up residence in my chimney…but only for 24hrs as it happened.
I contacted PGH and was charged over £200 (up front) for a ‘visual’ survey of my property, in order to do a quote for honeybee proofing the chimney… for that I had a 20-30 minute visit and a few photos of my chimney taken from across the road.. I could have taken them myself with my own phone and emailed them for nothing.

After 7 days I contacted customer service to tell them I still hadn’t had my quote and to voice my disappointment on the high cost charged for this service. Their response was, I would have the quote the next day and I was told it would be a visual survey…missing the point of the cost for what they did. I responded and was told they were going to speak to the Director further and come to a solution.

The quote didn’t arrive the next day, and when it did it was in the thousands and a large amount of it was to repoint my chimney!!! How did they know it needed repointing…no one had been near it to inspect it!!
Neither the Director nor customer service have ever got back to me with a solution and needless to say I did not accept their quote. I emailed my reasons for not accepting it and again I had no response. I guess it’s easy to ignore a dissatisfied customer when they have already had your money!
All in all a VERY disappointing experience

Fantastic Service

The team at PGH Pest Control and Prevention were absolutely fantastic in resolving our rodent problems. They did not just put poison down and hope it does the job - they analysed my entire property and that of my neighbor to establish where the problem had originated from and then took measures to make sure that not only was it eradicated, but it would never repeat itself again. Genuinely, one of the most thorough and professional services I could hope for and the nicest people to deal with. I would recommend them to anyone.

Had honey bees removed from my chimney…

Had honey bees removed from my chimney by this company and was extremely happy with the professionalism and organisation. The bees were removed alive and relocated, all the wax and honeycomb removed, and the chimney sealed. Not cheap but an excellent solution to a difficult problem, done with willingness and politeness by an excellent team.

The people who came to site were…

The people who came to site were exemplary.

However, the office was very poor, I had to chase them 3 times for confirmation of appointment times and as I have a one hour commute to site it is very important to me that dates and times are adhered to. They also did not check your bank account before chasing me for money that I had already paid.

The way that things should be done.

A site evaluation that demonstrated expertise, a clear quotation procedure, and a efficient (and legal) removal of two awkwardly-sited nests in my house’s roof by friendly and communicative technicians. I would definitely recommend this company.

George turned up on time and got …

George turned up on time and got straight on with the job at hand. He managed to find the dead rat in the loft and removed it. He then sprayed with disinfectant to help with oder control and sterilize the area. Very impressed with his workmanship and manner. I will definatly be using you guys again. 5 star service. Thankyou.
