Marlow Piccolino poor food standards

I visited Piccolino in Marlow last week with my friends and unfortunately had a disappointing experience from start to finish.

We began with Piña Coladas, but were surprised to find they lacked any noticeable coconut cream, which is quite key to the drink. For my starter, I ordered the Burrata con Pesto, which was described as creamy, but the mozzarella was dry, possibly passed its sell by date!

I was hoping the main course would redeem things, but my Spaghetti Carbonara was another letdown. It was extremely dry, to the point where I felt I had to raise it with the staff.

Overall, the meal didn’t live up to expectations, especially given the reputation of the restaurant.

Put some love into your bruschetta!

Marlow restaurant- last night, dinner for 7.
Helpful service, pleasant ambiance, really like the conservatory area with roof rolled back and heat lamps if needed. Favourite area.

Nonu the bar waiter was on form. Thank you for taking care of our cocktails.

It was a birthday celebration and there was a surprise tiramisu desert with a candle in it which I thought was a lovely touch. Thank you!

The ravioli was tasty.

The tuna was tasty but cold.

I would like the chef to review their bruschetta dish. A slice of dry white toast, with some sliced tomatoes on top and a limp sprig of basil just isn’t going to cut it. Come on! This dish should be mouth wateringly unctious. I feel an Italian would be ashamed to put it on the table. Please, please have another go and let me know when you’re ready for me to come and try it!!

Thank you
Gabrielle

Bramhall location

Bramhall location

Very disappointed mothers day family meal.
we waited an hour between starters and mains.
When the food arrived it was cold .
Not one member of staff came to ask how the food was.
Then another lengthy wait for dessert.
When a family member complained when the brought the bill they were just so not interested at all we will not return.

Overpriced Average Food

Piccolinos in Virgina Water is over priced with very arrogant management staff and inept waiters. 4 of us went for lunch yesterday. We had the set lunchtime menu choices. Food was luke warm. The prawns come with absoultely NO sides. £6.50 for the smallest plate of roasted sliced new potatoes. £11.50 for a dessert or £9.50 for ice cream. Get real Piccolinos. This is why you were empty and clearly survive on the money from next door's rich and famous! We won't be returning for a long time

Stockton Heath restaurant

Stockton Heath restaurant. I fail to see the enjoyment of going to a restaurant and having to wear your coat because it is so cold. I get business want to save cost, but it gets a bit beyond a joke when you buy a bottle of champagne, ask for the cork and take it home because it is too cold to sit in the restaurant. Not the only person to raise this! Apparently this is a head office directive. Heating cannot be more than 21 degrees! It is actually warmer to sit outside under the outdoor heaters! What a joke!

We visited Piccolino on Heddon Street…

We visited Piccolino on Heddon Street for a birthday celebration and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. Our waiter was overly casual and the service throughout the evening was slow. I had finished my main course before the accompanying potatoes and vegetables finally arrived, despite asking more than once. It really disrupted the meal.

We also ordered decaf coffee, but it was so strong that it didn’t seem decaffeinated at all. For a birthday meal, the lack of attention and care made the evening feel far less special than we’d hoped.

To be fair, the manager did acknowledge the issues when we raised them and refunded the glasses of wine and coffees, which we appreciated. However, we still left feeling neglected as customers. Not the standard we expected.

Very average food

Very average food, although the Chichester restaurant vibe was nice. Staff attentive but robotic, not very personal.
Prices were OTT for the food and drinks on offer, certainly not ICELAND prices. Piccolino chain is owned I believe by boss of cut price supermarket business.
I can’t see this restaurant lasting much longer in Chichester, the site has had a succession of different food businesses and they have all failed one way or another.
Hospitality is a tough business these days but my advice to Piccolino is don’t rip off customers, serve decent portions of food and drinks and smile at your guests spending money in your overpriced restaurants.
Sorry, but I won’t be returning to Piccolino anytime soon.

Worst food and table service

The food was disappointing, £18.50 for a small bowl of pasta and £35 for a steak that was smaller than a beefburger no chips or sides just steak on a plate that was carried to the table by a waiter that was seen after he had handled all our crockery and glasses to be picking his spots on his face 🤢 absolutely disgusting. Will never eat here again if you want great Italian food in Sheffield then try Little Italy at Dronfield you won't be disappointed !!!

Absolute thieves

Absolute thieves - £25 for 2 x G&T's - which we bought as our table (conveniently) still wasn't ready, despite us being 15 minutes late (you know the con - 'Just go to the bar whilst we prepare your table Sir')
Ordered the sea bass - it came literally as just that - a fish on a plate (with plenty of bones still in). No vegetables, salad, potatoes, nothing.
I wouldn't eat here again even if it was free.

Inoffensive

A very nice restaurant with white tablecloths and a very orderly chic layout. Clean and classy.
The food was modern Italian. The gluten free pizzas are alright, it's difficult to make it taste good, but the toppings were nice.
The calzone was perhaps doughy, but the filling was a pleasantly spicy njuda, and there was an adequate amount.
The staff were kind and jovial, and very happy to do what they could to make our stay more comfortable. There was an old glass with some water still in it. Perhaps water accidentally added, perhaps a glass leftover from a previous diner, but they were quick to replace it.
Overall I would not say it is worth the price, but it is perfectly fine.

We booked table for 14 people for my…

We booked table for 14 people for my granddaughter's birthday birthday. When we arrived it was mayhem, members of our party were scattered around the restaurant as table wasn't big enough to seat everyone. Food coming out at different times which was awkward. I ordered bruchetta which wasn't done right, no basil it was just chopped tomato/onion on bread dash of balsamic and rocket leaf. Girls behind bar area were very miserable, not a smile between them. When we got bill it was mayhem trying to sort it, manager just walked off and left us to it, no help whatsoever.
Would I go again? Not a chance. Awful atmosphere.

Find somewhere else to go!

Booked this for my mom & I to go for a lovely meal before we proceeded to go to a concert only for our evening to not have the best of starts. The table was booked for just after 4pm and we were seated immediately. We both ordered exactly the same, calamari for starter, this was thick chunks of calamari that can only be described as chewing rubber. It needed to be cut into thinner strips and the batter needed to have a lot of salt added to it for taste. For our main meal we ordered carbonara, this was no better. The pasta was over cooked and the sauce was too thick which resulted in the dish being sticky and when you pushed your fork into the nest of pasta, we were able to pick all the pasta up, in what can only be described as a pasta cake. Not one strand of spaghetti detached from the nest. When this occurs with pasta it can have the potential to cause a blockage in a persons digestion tract, neither I, nor my mom proceeded to finish our meal. We ordered a side of greens (Verdure) to find it had been cross contaminated with a piece of beef!

Not one member of staff came to our table during the meal to see how the food was and this was disappointing.

We both said we would not be returning. The music was also too loud which meant it was not only difficult to hear each other, but to also difficult to hear the waiters.

Towards the end of our sitting the service became too much for the staff to handle. The maître d had clearly finished for the day however, nobody was readily available to take up the roll of maître d. A couple were waiting to be seated for 10 minutes before any member of staff even acknowledged them

Really aggressive manager (Johnny?) and shockingly bad customer service

This is for Piccolino Marlow.
I went there with a friend for a couple of glasses of wine at lunchtime. There are very nicely upholstered bar stools and we were both dressed quite smartly. We sat at the. bar and then noticed that another customer sat their dog on one of the chairs. I asked the barman what was the policy on dogs sitting on upholstered chairs. He said that he did not personally agree with it but that he was in a no win situation. I asked to speak to the manager, who was very aggressive and stressed. He said that it was a dog friendly area and that I didn't like it then I could go elsewhere. I asked if he would refund the drinks that we had already ordered but had not drunk yet and he declined to answer. He just said that he had been working hard and the whole place was very busy. I persisted and said that I was OK with the area being dog friendly as long as the dogs were on the floor, but not on the nicely upholstered chairs or on the bar. He then got very angry and said that ' of course he wouldn't allow dogs on the bar' but when pressed he would not say whether dogs would be allowed on the chairs or not. He then said that he did not see the dogs sitting on chairs, but I persisted that his barman did. He then repeated that I could go somewhere else but did not offer to refund the drinks. The whole experience was very stressful. I feel that the staff are very aggressive and unfriendly and are possibly overworked, stressed and untrained in decent customer service.
I would not go again and advise only to go if you do not care about hygiene, wearing nice clothes or want a friendly and relaxed experience.

PICCOLINO BRAMHALL ⚠️ AVOID ⚠️

PICCOLINO BRAMHALL 👀 Do not make this your restaurant
If you are seeing this before you go (actually don't go) in, good job. You are wiser than I was. I should have checked reviews first‼️
⚠️ LIVE CENTIPEDE in Pasta, a disrespectful AGGRESSIVE MANAGER, and THREW UP after limp lettuce❗️
I ordered Pasta and was half way through eating it AND THEN LIVE CENTIPEDE crawled from underneath the pasta from the middle of the bowl. I WISH I HAD FILMED. My instant reaction was STOP EATING and take it straight to the kitchen.
THIS IS HOW THE RESTAURANT STAFF DEALT WITH IT
⬇️
The chef literally looked deep into my bowl and smiled, said nothing, just a great big smile.
The Manager came over and I explained what happened until he cut me short and started SHOUTING AT ME. He said (shouted) it was not possible to be alive and that it must have fallen from the ceiling. MY JAW WAS ON THE FLOOR. I could hardly get a word in due to him shouting at me and waving his hands around. DISGRACEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. The manager continued to SHOUT at me whilst resolving the matter, stating that we can have all meals and drinks for FREE.
⬇️
There was no apology from the manager and just a smile from the chef. Head Office was complained too. It was concluded that the manager did nothing wrong (can’t agree!). I declined an offer of a £100 voucher to spend WITHIN 3 months at one of their restaurants ABSOLUTELY NOT never again. Another member of my party threw up the next day as his salad did look rather limp.
Let’s sum up.
➡️ WORST restaurant experience ever 🤮 This restaurant needs to understand the POWER of great customer service. They need to do much better.

A restaurant of many contradictions

A restaurant of many contradictions.

We visited the Chichester restaurant last night with family. Seven in total, with a 14 mth old.

The restaurant itself is really well appointed and, on the face of it, looked amazing. A lot of work had gone into getting the feel and layout right. Good seating, innovative use of the space (with a wide open raised deck area at the back) and stunning hung lighting.

As soon as we sat down, however, cracks were showing. The seats were tight and a bit cramped. The large circular table itself was not solid and wobbled from side to side on its pedestal.

Service was relatively prompt to start with and the restaurant was well staffed.

Things kinda went downhill from there. The first thing was the lighting being dimmed. You know, the “you couldn’t see your food” dimmed. It could not maintain a static light level, so it kept brightening and dimming by itself throughout the evening. This was disconcerting at best and actually pretty annoying at worst.

Service was slow. We arrived at 4:45-5pm and we paid as soon as we had finished our main course without dessert or coffee. This was at 6:30.

Some of the dishes were amazing, the gluten free calamari was one of the best I have tasted outside of Greece. The wagyu lasagna with the sauce on the side was also really very good. Other dishes were…. Pedestrian to be honest. The calzone was ok, the carbonara was also….. ok, but really nothing special. Certainly not worth the price tag (I’ll get to that later).

Continuing the theme, the bathrooms were very well appointed but shockingly cold. You know, those cold bathrooms when you stand that little bit closer to the hand drier. Hot water was hard to find but otherwise it was….. ok. My daughter said that the cold and low lighting was the same in the baby change room. which made changing a small person extremely difficult.

The service was confusing too, some staff were genuinely happy to see us but to be honest, most were indifferent.

We sat in the rear of the restaurant on the raised deck area which was really well laid out (albeit a bit cramped) the area is surrounded by a balustrade and glass panelling. The balustrade itself sits exactly at average eye height. This proved genuinely infuriating when trying to get staff attention, and there were lots of staff who wandered by oblivious that we were trying to get the bill.

We ran out of time for the dessert or coffee because the service was so slow. Had I seen the bill at this point, we would have left because of this. Removing the food for the child the bill came to almost £42 per person. This is without dessert of coffee or an excess of alcohol.

So many parts of this restaurant have been really thought about but not thought through. The lighting, on balance, was annoying. The bathrooms just freezing. The deck area was lovely but boy was it cramped and that balustrade!! The service slow and in places unwelcoming. Some parts of the menu were really fantastic. Others, not so much.

On balance, sadly, not worth the price tag.

Don’t order the seafood

Visited Picclinos Manchester 29th Jan 25. My wife ordered the Casarecce Pollo and stated that it was excellent. I ordered Spaghetti Frutti Mare, when the meal came it was nothing but seafood shells. When I removed all the shells there were very little seafood. The 1 king prawn was cooked as incinerated should be pink but was dark gray as if it had been cooked a very long time indicating that it was not fresh very disappointed.
If you visit this Resturant don’t order the seafood
