At Primal we are passionate about the outdoors and would love to share our knowledge of bushcraft and survival skills with you. We believe it’s best to have a few survival skills in your back pocket so you don’t get caught out when you need them most. Like our primal ancestors of old, living off the land and utilising skills to live in harmony with our surroundings was a natural way of life. In today’s fast paced environment we are dependent on technology more and more and have lost touch with our Primal Instincts and Hunter-Gatherer skills. So let’s get outdoors, as there’s no better way to learn than by doing.

Just completed the Primal Bowyer course and I couldn't fault it. Excellent tuition from Matthew Courtney-Jones of Cambridge Longbows and fantastic professional hosting by Matt Smith and Paul McCusker of Primal. Venue was excellent and really added to the primal/survival feel of the weekend. We were made to feel welcome, were well fed and looked after, had the best tools and equipment at our disposal and we were always made to feel safe even with lots of sharp tools lying around. Excellent team and would highly recommend to anyone looking to learn bushcraft and survival skills. This was my second course with Primal and would seriously consider attending more in the future!!
Fantastic team building event!!
My 2nd time on an event with Matt and his team at Primal Bushcraft. Takes you out of the office and out of the normal working environment with a clear focus on teambuilding. An added bonus is the practical life skills that you learn on the way. A great investment from the business and really appreciated by the team. Matt delivers a full fun season that keeps the energy high during the course. His extended team compliment the course and are very professional.
Have been privileged to do 4 sessions with Matt and his team. Every session has been different, every session tailored to our brief to suit our teams needs at that time. If you want a structured team day that isn’t “classic textbook team building” this is it! Fun, effective and nice people!
Matt and his team bring something different every time! Getting out of the office and back into nature for some team building is amazing fun - we’re all already looking forward to the next one!
The guys were excellent with my 10yo, providing encouragement and advise on skills to practice and what knowledge he should research to pursue his interest in bushcraft & survival skills. They treated him with respect and made him believe he could do anything if he tried - I have a very happy, motivated boy at home who is now happy to leave his PlayStation and asks to spend time outdoors with us to practice the things he learned, a huge, big, massive Thank You to them - it was a truly awesome day!
