Handwriting recognition… total game changer

I have owned my reMarkable 2 for several years. Fascinating product, but not for everyone. The absolute game changer for me was it’s recent handwriting recognition function. Although in Beta, and a little bit temperamental, it does work. It took me a while, figuring out how it worked … Game changing for someone who hasn’t quite cracked howto file things properly.

Review of Customer Support / E-Commerce Experience....Awful ordering experience - beware

This review is for the customer support and e-commerce side of the company — not the device itself, which I still haven’t received.

I placed my order 12 days ago. The website states delivery should take around eight days, but as of today the order still hasn’t been shipped. When I contacted customer service through their e-service, I was told only that my order is “awaiting shipment” and to await a confirmation email.

When I asked about a refund, I was informed that I couldn’t cancel or be refunded because the order is in the “final stages of being prepared,” even though it has not yet been dispatched. There’s also no timeline or visibility on when it will actually dispatch and the communication is non-existant throughout.

It’s frustrating that a company known for innovation and premium design seems to have such limited transparency around its fulfilment process. Customers expect at least basic order tracking and realistic updates, especially when timelines slip.

At this point, I have no clear information on when my order will arrive and no ability to cancel it (I can only reject it from the courier or send it back), which feels unreasonable for an online purchase. I genuinely hope reMarkable can improve its logistics and communication, as this experience has not reflected the quality and simplicity the brand is known for.

I see someone else below has also had a terrible experience in the past few weeks! It makes me worry what the service will be like if anything goes wrong if it ever arrives!

Good luck getting your device (it's then your fault if damaged or stolen)

Remarkable use FedEx to ship.
Fedex then leave packages in the rain without a signature or even a knock on the door in view of the street to be stolen.
When raised with ReMarkable this was blamed on me for allowing "no-contact deliveries" that was not an option on the delivery.
So if you order good luck in getting your item and if it's damaged or stolen they will clearly shift the blame to you for an option you weren't given.
Unless they change to signed for deliveries or a clear opt out then BUYER BEWARE.

As a vocational school teacher

As a vocational school teacher, the Remarkable 2 is a great support for my everyday teaching routine. The folder structure allows notes and PDF documents to be stored in a single folder, which was not possible with the ink tablet I used previously. Handwriting conversion works almost flawlessly. It is possible to create clean sketches because holding the pen at the end of the line straightens it. Handwritten notes can be moved and resized.
What I would still like to see:
- Customization of the view in sleep mode, e.g., with name and start image, without interfering with the programming.
- Free movement of text fields in the printed version.
- Easy conversion of the view into a PNG file that can also be read by a tablet without extensive editing.
I am very satisfied and look forward to future updates that may include the features I am still missing.

Awful e-commerce site

This review is for the customer support/e-commerce aspect of the company. I can’t comment on the device as I have not received it yet.

I order my device a few days ago and have not received any despatch notification so I checked the website to see the order status. The site does not have status tracking. I used live chat to talk to an agent. I gave my order number and was told the order was picked and waiting for courier pick up. Next day, no despatch email so went on chat again. This agent could give me no information at all: just that I’d get an email when it despatches. He had no idea when that would be or why it was taking so long.

To me, it’s incredible that a company that sells its products on its website has no insight into the despatch process. I checked on Amazon and could order a tablet today for same day delivery. I realise remarkable does not have the same resources / experience as the giants of e-commerce, but they need to provide status updates on their site at a minimum

Studying Buddy

I mainly use my reMarkable for learning. I was always a haptic learner and needed to write things I read down to memorize them. But keeping all those pages organized and the supply of paper and ink on me was always a bit of a chore.

The paper pro is excellent for studying and the colour highlights I can use with the many different writing tools are just great to get key facts quickly.

While using the reMarkable I rediscovered the joy of handwriting and now I use it almost daily.

I had several questions for the customer service and they were very honest and quick! Best customer care experience in a long time!

Extremely Poor Communication and Refund…

Extremely Poor Communication and Refund Issues

reMarkable has completely failed to communicate on delivery or refund. After weeks of delays they cannot say when an order will ship, only that it will be shipped someday. When I requested a refund they went silent and no confirmation has been received. This level of disorganisation and lack of transparency suggests serious management or cash flow problems.

Bad quality, worse sustainability policy

My Book Folio Premium Leather case started showing damage just a couple of weeks after I bought it. The quality is extremely poor, especially for a product that costs NOK 2,299.

However, what I find truly disappointing is your customer service. The requirement to return the damaged folio is completely unnecessary — from the photos I sent, it’s clear that the product is broken. What’s the point of sending it back? What are your sustainability commitments in this process? Are you going to repair it, analyze what went wrong, or simply throw it away once it arrives?

I even had to print the return label myself, which is already a frustrating user experience — who even owns a printer nowadays? But what shocked me most was realizing that the return shipment goes all the way to China. Really? Sending a damaged 500 g package from Oslo to China is highly unsustainable — it creates unnecessary emissions, high costs, and logistical waste. Local handling would be far more efficient and environmentally responsible.

On top of that, I’m required to send back the damaged folio before receiving a replacement, leaving my Remarkable unprotected for over a week. What happens if it falls or gets damaged in the meantime — will that be covered by the warranty?

Overall, this experience feels far from the quality and values your brand claims to represent.

I didn't have much trouble using the AI…

I didn't have much trouble using the AI interface. However I did have to weed through a lot of pages to get there. It would be nice if you just had a icon to press which says go directly to support. Go directly to chat. Or go directly to a bunch of use cases or introductions to see if you can sort it out.

So I sincerely love your product. But I do have a problem. Your advertising is very slick. Your product is wonderful but you're selling yourself short. I have layered away that you can find me on Facebook trying to support your product and creating use cases and defining approaches so people could get more use out of your product.
Do you see the problem? Well if you want my advice here it is. You should develop dozens of common use cases clearly defined, showing exactly how to use the remarkable paper Pro to its greatest advantage for this particular application. Here are a few examples. I understand there are a lot of templates available, particularly since I have a connection at which I'm paying for but I have special templates I would like to create. Where is the use case for that? I need to be able to search to a deeper level which I can't do beyond the level of file naming. I understand it's coming but why did you introduce it if it wasn't fully ready. Very frustrating. I think the fact that you can link all of devices even up to a PC, a tablet, a phone, a remarkable paper Pro and the move all on one network. Where are the white papers or use cases to tell you how wonderful that is and how much time they can save if they just follow your excellent advice. Where is the use cases on the scan feature. You all act like there's only one thing. It's for scaning documents. That's that's totally untrue. It also takes pictures of everything. Where's the use case for taking the humanist notes on the plane on a paper tablet and taking pictures of each page on your tablet using the scan feature and how it loads onto all your devices at once. Where is the use case that points out how volume it is? 64 GB really is. Particular if you're just saving basically papers and novels and stuff. It's like an ocean, a story and most people don't realize that. You should. Where's your note from y'all that points down that when you're trying to edit text using the pen, you're going to have a lot of trouble. Unless you make sure that you select a non -writing icon such as the select tool. Then the pin works a lot better. I can't tell you how many complaints I've seen about people that can't manipulate the text once it's written. Where's the use case that tells you? If you want to keep your translation of script on the same page, you need to select it and then use the select to icon that comes up on the selection, not the one on the menu. If you do that, it'll translate to text and put very near where you want right on the same page. You can go back and forth this way it's almost like typing. Where are the use cases for the implementation of a tagging system and how important it can be if done properly and how used in conjunction with their search tool, it can make the RPP network amazing. Where is the use case? It shows you how to create your own symbols either out of files that you've loaded or out of papers you can trace so that you can use them as part of your tagging system. Where are use cases? It show everybody what agreed. E-reader the remarkable paper probe can be and how you can use the setting in the menu to adjust height and width to make a perfect size of the font. Why haven't you shown people how handy it is these remarkable Paper Pro as a reader and how you can write in the margins and write on the text itself. Also how you can use the select tool to select the script and then have it translated. And how it will create new pages in the page overview. Like let's say maybe 10 pages all that have script on it. You can select them all and have it translated all at once into text. I could go on but I'm getting tired. I think I've saved you a lot of money. If you follow my device. You should send me a Move an appreciation for all the great advice I've given you. If you do, I'll really check it out and inform all the readers on Facebook, how good it is and how they can use it. You're welcome!

I am waiting for an order for over 3…

I am waiting for an order for over 3 weeks.i asked for a refund and have been told they cant, but the item has still not been shipped. So they've just taken my £600 and are expecting me to wait an unspecified amount of time without this product. The communication on the status of my order has been dreadful. I am fighting for information on where the product is and why I cant have my money back if the product is not available to me now. All he while they're offering same day delivery for the same version of the same product on Amazon now?! I will never buy from this company again.

A glaring failure in customer care

ReMarkable Paper Pro Move – A Remarkably Poor Experience

If you’re considering purchasing a reMarkable product, I strongly urge you to reconsider. My experience with this company has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing consumer interactions I’ve ever had.

🚫 Poor Communication and Customer Service

From the moment I placed my order, communication from reMarkable was virtually nonexistent. Weeks passed with no dispatch, no proactive updates, and no indication that my order was progressing. Every single interaction had to be initiated by me—the customer—rather than the company taking any responsibility to inform or reassure. Their responses were formulaic, platitudinal, and devoid of any meaningful action. “We understand your frustration” became a recurring theme, yet nothing was done to resolve the issue. I would guess the responses were AI generated.

💸 Payment Taken, But No Urgency to Deliver

reMarkable was quick to take my money, but clearly had little intention of dispatching the product promptly. The order languished in limbo for weeks, with vague references to external fulfillment partners and no clear timeline. At no point during the checkout process was I informed that delivery could take nearly a month. This lack of transparency is unacceptable, especially for a premium-priced product.

🌍 Concealed Location and Misleading Expectations

One of the most egregious aspects of this experience was the deliberate concealment of the company’s location. reMarkable presents itself as a UK-accessible brand, yet operates from outside the UK—something only revealed after the order was placed. This has significant implications for delivery times, returns, and consumer rights, none of which were disclosed upfront.

⚠️ Dispatch Only After Legal Threats

After weeks of delay and zero resolution, I was left with no choice but to threaten legal action under UK trading standards. Only then—after explicitly stating my intent to pursue a small claims court case—did reMarkable suddenly “escalate to their fulfilment centre,” and the product was dispatched within 48 hours. This reactive behaviour speaks volumes about their priorities: not customer satisfaction, but damage control.

🛑 No Accountability, No Resolution

When I requested a cancellation and refund due to the excessive delay, I was told it was no longer possible because the order had been “forwarded to the fulfillment partner.” This is a meaningless excuse from a customer perspective. The workaround offered—rejecting the parcel and then manually chasing a refund—puts all the burden back on me. Again, no accountability from reMarkable.

---

Final Verdict: Absolutely Dreadful

reMarkable may make a decent product, but their customer service, transparency, and order fulfillment practices are appalling. If you value your time, money, and sanity, look elsewhere. This company has demonstrated a complete disregard for its customers and operates with a level of opacity and indifference that borders on contempt.

Avoid this company. Good product, awful policy & morals.

Received the tablet (Paper pro) for my birthday because I really wanted it. Great experienced for the first months but 4 months later a "glitch" appeared on my screen. Knowing that I have a right to warranty and also had the Remarkable subscription who offers extended warranty Ireached out to them asking for a repair. They denied it because according to them I damaged the tablette. I never drop it, there are no dents, scratches or whatever. I even sent them additional photos to show them no damage is present. They insisted that I probably damage the iner layer somehow and won't fix it because warranty doesn't cover any damage I do.
Spoke with 4 different people each time. Not one of them bothered to read my entire email that I sent to the previous person.

AVOID!! Shocking customer service...

If anything goes wrong with your overpriced tablet these guys will not help you. I got through to someone quite quickly but their attitude was appalling. They also sign you up for their subscription automatically so while its not much money, you must be careful to cancel it if you don't want the extra features! They sneakily get around this by stating that you agree to the T's and C's when you create an account, but you can't create an account without submitting your credit card details.... which they then store and use!!
I never received any email confirmation that I was subscribed.

They also refused to provide me with any of the data they hold on me. Not sure this is legal.

There is no way to submit a complaint. They only take 'ideas and feedback' and state they are unable to reply to any comments individually. Therefore, no avenue for redress and they are completely unaccountable. Based in Norway so I guess they feel like they can do whatever they like.

These are really underhand tactics from what I thought was a reputable company.

Astonishingly bad customer service and…

Astonishingly bad customer service and quality control. After a few months of use my remarkable paper pro developed a fault. Customer service said they would replace it but first I had to ship to back to them. I did so and after 1 week I received a replacement remarkable.

Well. This replacement remarkable had a scuff at the back and something seriously wrong with the WiFi system because it was unable to pair to the remarkable cloud. I tired all their silly checks and now they want me to send back this replacement before they send back another unit. By the time I get it I would have been without a decide for over 2 weeks.

Remarkable wants to be the apple of eink while having the customer support of AliExprsss.
