We love having a plot with Roots

We love having a plot with Roots! We’re now in our third seasons at the Bristol site and it keeps getting better. Lots of seeds, plugs, support and love from the team and the community.

You get everything you need to start growing and it couldn’t be simpler. Getting into growing can feel intimidating but Roots makes it feel accessible to anyone - and we managed to grow so much (too much!) in our first season.

Our site is so beautiful and such a joy to be in.

The Roots team are responsive and supportive and work so hard to make the site what it is. Highly recommend to anyone thinking about getting into growing.

I've had my plot at sugarloaf fields…

I've had my plot at sugarloaf fields since september 2025 with little experience growing anything successfully previously. However, since joining, I've managed to grow loads of different foods and flowers ready to put into my plot and Dave is a fountain of knowledge and passion for organic growing. He is also so conscious of the local wildlife, ensuring there's space for them and the site is eco friendly. The community are lovely and no question is too silly!

IF I COULD GIVE NO STARS I WOULD, and that's being overly generous

I took a trip out to the north Sheffield site to test their advertised travel times. BE AWARE THAT THE TIMES STATED ARE ALL TOTALLY WRONG. The walk, cycle and drive times given are so underestimated that it can't be an oversight. THEY ARE ABSOLUTE LIES AND FALSE ADVERTISING.

Please don't expect a local bus service to take you there as one doesn't exist. Don't expect the train station to be a few minutes walk away. And if anyone can cycle from Sheffield city centre to this site in 5 minutes I'd like to see it!

Rotten Roots

This company does not care at all about planning laws, local concerns or wildlife habitats. They are only concerned with getting their way for profit and do not care for regulations or legitimate local concerns. Their development in Bristol has killed deer and destroyed valuable greenbelt wildflower meadows.

Had a patch in Croydon for 6 months now and couldn’t be happier! They make it so easy for an allotment novice by providing all the tools/water and some seeds/plug plants. I know there are some complaints it’s more expensive than a council allotment but it think for what they offer it’s great money for value. It’s always an amazing vibe there and just wish I had done it sooner!

Had a brilliant experience signing up…

Had a brilliant experience signing up for a plot with the Worthing Roots. They were so helpful and accommodating in slotting me in for a welcome tour as I couldn't make the allotted times due to work commitments. The welcome by Rosetta was warm and insightful, very encouraging and I'm excited to get started. I got to choose my plot next to my friends which is an added bonus. Looking forward to making new friends in such a friendly community.

Great for your health and well-being

I have been with Roots for 5 years. I started at the Newbridge site and I am now based at the Avon site. I have grown new vegetables and old favourites, engaged in community events that a held year round. It's a good way to get some exercise and learn something new. All the managers are super helpful and supportive. And the price is a bargain.

Have been growing with Roots for two…

Have been growing with Roots for two years now and it’s been such a positive experience. Your membership comes with an annual seeds drop, plug plant drops, communal tools, woodchip, compost and manure. The growing community is very engaged with various WhatsApp messaging channels and the management team both onsite and off is proactive and responsive. The impact to my mental health and lifestyle has been immeasurable. So grateful Roots exists.

Everyone that I've dealt with is really friendly. There is nothing that is too difficult for staff when it comes to trying to help you out with problems or difficulties. What you get for the money you pay is brilliant and I can see myself being a plot holder for a long time to come.

Haven on a patch of land

I’m relatively new to Roots but so far my experience has been amazing. Theres everything there that you need from tools to seeds and plug plants. I’m at sugarloaf and there’s a real community feel to our group. Our patch manager, Dave , is super supportive - what he doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing.
