Roots provides everything you need to get started with an allotment plot. All of the equipment (wheelbarrows/spades/rakes/watering cans) are on site, there’s water in accessible distance to all plots, and the site manager Coxy is happy to help via message or in person! You even get all of your seeds provided!
There is such a relaxed vibe at roots and, yes you do pay slightly more than you would at a council plot, but in my eyes it’s so worth it. I absolutely love roots and I hope it keeps growing the way it is.

Great opportunity to get growing. Everything you need to get started. Tools, space, seeds and plug plants. I love my plots. And I love what it allows me to to for my family. Local organic food. Been on an allotment waiting list for years.

Excellent set up. Informative free visit with no pressure. The site is well set up with everything you could need to get you going. I think prices are very reasonable considering what is provided. So pleased I found them instead of waiting years for a council plot.

I’m now in my second year with Roots Allotments and couldn’t recommend them more highly. The site is incredibly well maintained, and I really appreciate the 25% weed rule – it encourages everyone to take pride in their plots and makes such a difference compared to other allotments I’ve seen.
The team are always helpful, and there are so many great resources available online if you want to learn more about growing. I started with zero experience, and now my friends and family think I’m an expert (I’m definitely not!), but that just shows how accessible and supportive it is.
It’s such an easy, enjoyable setup – you can just turn up and have everything you need ready for you. Absolutely brilliant.

I have had a Roots plot now for three years and counting. It's my happy place! The organisation is genuinely passionate about growing for all, the environment, no-dig principles and building communities. This, not profit, is there primary motivation, which is a breath of fresh air (literally!) in this day and age. The extras we get are amazing... seeds, plug plants, shared equipment, community generated compost and manure. Watering troughs provide a sustainable resource and you can opt into to a huge range of events too. Highly recommend... get the bug and grow your own, it's SO satisfying!

It's the best decision I have made getting an allotment with Roots Allotments. The community is great, and the subscription includes workshops, seeds, use of the equipment- wheelbarrow, spades etc. I fully recommend it. You won't look back!

I love my roots allotment. Im disabled and struggle to walk too far so thet helped by putting a bench near my plot fir me to sit. My assistancd dog lives it down there too and the community is rwally helpful

Love my plot at Roots Allotments, great idea and represebts good value for money. Love the fact that it is no dig and organic. Great to have tools and water on site. Plus free compost, seeds and seedlings. Site manager Catherine is regularly about and able to give help and support. Brilliant place to meet like minded people.
It may be more expensive than a council allotment but it is free from people burning rubbish, glass, carpets,and old upvc etc.

What more could you ask for everything you need on site even give you a good starter pack to get you started. Never done anything like this before and it’s the best thing I have ever done. My daughter has even got her own patch now she loves it that much

I have been with Roots for 18 months. I have a mini plot. I have loved the experience. The site is a huge open space and I am lucky enough to be able to visit on weekdays . I often have the entire space to myself with skylarks singing above me. The support is fabulous from people’s knowledge to tools, water and compost on site. A great collection of seeds and plug plants are included in the price. I think it is a superb initiative as I had been waiting 14 years for a council allotment. I am now growing and considering expanding. Thank you to all at Roots.

Absolutely love having my little starter patch! Not just that everything from seeds, tools, workshops and meeting new people is all included but having a place that has such a positive impact on my mental (and definetly physical) wellbeing. Everyone says hello and offers to help. Its such a friendly and lovely enviroment to be in!

After realising I had no hope of getting a counsel run allotment any time soon, I was so grateful to find out Roots was coming to my area. Great team, support and facilities. Easy to get started as they supply everything you would need. The price is extremely reasonable and I couldn’t recommend more!

Roots meadow hill is a great site and very friendly. Tjadar is super helpful and looks after the site really well. Everything is there you need for happy planting

Me and my family absolutely love our plots and we love roots!! You got so much included, seeds , all the equipment in the shed ! We just love it!
