Great experience with talented artists.
Sofar Sounds is a ripoff company. I purchased meet and greet tickets for falling in reverse concert through Ticketmaster. After my purchase I received 3 emails and my tickets issued to my live nation app. No where in the emails or ticket did it say I would receive another email from sofar for the meet and greet instructions. That being said the day of the concert I show up at the time on the ticket and the venue said I missed the meet and greet because it was a separate time in which sofar email instructions to my spam box 3 days before the concert. When I reached out for a partial credit they simply just said no and since then have been unresponsive. This company is a ripoff and unprofessional.
Great atmosphere vibes and music, aswell artists and public are really connected during the performance xx
One star is too much for truly awful customer service! Our party of 4 arrived to be told at the door there was only 3 names on the list. We could not initially find the confirmation email and asked if we could pay for one. We were told that the venue was ' sold out' , despite there been plenty of room for one more person...because we had booked for 4 not 3!
The door attendant wasnt at all bothered. It was our mistake not theirs. When we enquired about a refund ( for the 3 on her list not the r we paid for ) we were told only the manager knew about such matters. Fair enough. We got to see the Manager. Thankfully at this point we had found our email confirmation for 4 tickets.
Incredibly the Manager would now not take the confirmation as proof and insisted on getting her laptop to check the office records. We were eventually let into this ' very special ' event. The artists deserve better from the gig managers.
Horrible experience - cancelled the show and rescheduled me to a new date that I could not make. They refused to give me a refund and gave me a credit that expires in 3 months. Even after explaining that I won’t be able to use it in the next 3 months they wouldn’t budge. I will be filing a chargeback and will NEVER consider going in the future
It was good. Now they just steal you money. They pay the artists $10/$50, and they are all terrible (I went 20 times in the past). Very terrible is a compliment, and it is the case always. Now, they have removed BYOB as well. They should go out of business ASAP.
Used to be great. You'd pay a small fee to see great, unknown artists play in quirky, cool locations with a small group of people. Bring your own booze, pay a small fee and have a great couple of hours. It's now the total opposite. Overpriced and the quality is poor. Such a shame it's lost its charm
1 star is too generous.
Where should I start? I once had close contact with the 'curator' of Sofar Reno (NV). The shows were usually put together, last minute. The benefits that most 'big city' Sofar shows give to the artist were very much lacking in Reno, NV. Repeat artists, no real sense of the music scene or as a whole to properly curate. My first show was a last-minute favor for the curator. Now she is trying to make it Sofar 'Reno/Tahoe' which means she'll be the curator for two different states (NV & CA). Since doing a favor for @cjmakes (Insta) in 2019, she hasn't reached out to me once to check on the local scene.
I have screenshots to prove I asked politely for more community as she expands to California and she proceeded to unfollow & block me. No message was deleted in the process. Full disclosure!
Side Note: Sofar Reno (Insta) just got hacked. As far as I know, accounts usually get hacked when they've been inactive for too long.
Attended an event in London last night. It was advertised as an outside event and displayed an image of a concert at an intimate courtyard venue. When we arrived at the location, we were instead ushered into a shared-working office space to an awkwardly set up stage under fluorescent office lighting for the entire show. Complete bait and switch as the night was clearly so different to what was advertised. What’s worse is that they never commented on the change in venue. Don’t think many other people would have chosen to spend a sunny and warn Friday evening in an office building either..
If I could give 0 stars I would. I entered a giveaway by Sofar for 2 tickets to an event in Denver. They had emailed me saying that I won and I need to confirm that I'd be going to the concert on their website. I kept trying to confirm online and it wouldn't go through. I emailed customer service to explain my issue and they said that since this show was sold out that there were no tickets to give the winner. I was annoyed but told them that was fine and asked if they would be supplying tickets to another show in the future to make up for this mistake. They said they couldn't do that since these were "special offer tickets", they apologize for any disappointment, and that they are sorry for any "misleading language". Why have a giveaway if you can't give anything away? Such a waste of time and getting excited for nothing. Dishonest, or poorly planned? Either way I won't be using them in the future.
Sofar Sounds San Diego sells itself as an intimate, perfect date night experience. But sadly, if you buy a non-refundable ticket, they bait and switch you for a concert in a WeWork office building and force you to transfer your ticket to another underwhelming event in the future. I’ll be filing a chargeback. Total scam.
Depressing faux experience of “live music” just research your tastes and go to a gig, this is a horrendous expression of culture. Capitalising on “underground culture “, news flash, culture was fine before “sofar” jumped on monetising the experience band waggon. If you’re actually in to music, then dont bother. They are scalping artists.
I bought 2 tickets last year, which I couldn't attend and asked for a refund. Instead, they sent me a code so I can use it for 6 months. Soon after, they introduced Covid restrictions so I couldn't attend even if I wanted to. Now I've seen the restrictions were lifted and realised the 6 months availability has passed. Sent a request to renew but they replied unhelpfully: "...the transfer code that we issued for you expired at the end of January, and we're not able to extend it further."
Hope they will go bust with this attitude, I certainly won't visit any of their shows in the future and hope there will be competition in this segment so their arrogance will backfire.
I bought 2 tickets for an event on Friday 1st April and I have received an email from the company saying I should receive the location and the details of the event 36 hours before the date. Today is Wednesday, I am still waiting for the details. Also, I have tried to contact the customer service but none so far responded. The service is not good at all, great concept, but they are not organised and professional.
Denied entry to my event due to a forgotten vaccination card and then denied a refund. I will never attend a concert again for this terrible company.
Seemed like a cool idea. Booked tickets for a show and artists I was really looking forward to seeing. My work schedule shifted so I couldn't make the show. I tried contacting the organization numerous times starting more than a week in advance. I didn't even get a reply email. Only out about $85 but it is unlikely that I will do business with this company again.
Sofar is a great concept, but they scam their users. Take my experience for example: I bought a ticket, the location was sent to me on the day of the show and when I approached the address I realized the concert was in a mall courtyard; a block away from the mall I saw a bunch of signs posted that there was a "free concert" that night in the courtyard. When I arrived there was no special seating or anything for the people who had bought tickets on Sofar; it was a free concert, but thanks to Sofar I had paid $30 for it. I got scammed; the concept of this service is really cool, but they scam their users; save your money.
Shout out to the team at the Lost Society night in Battersea on Monday the 12th of July.
First of all, the Sofar Sounds team is just lovelly. Greeting everyone and making sure everyone is happy. It was the first gig after lockdown for many of us and they definetely made sure it was special.
Generally left with a very wholesome night behind me! Also wanted to give them a shout out for making the night for Alex special (young girl having the first EVER gig that night).
Thanks for a great night :-)
Sofar sounds are beyond incredible. From the artists who blow you away, to the brilliant and intimate venues, if you're a fan of music, I think Sofar is one of the best nights out you can have in London.
Fantastic venue, people, music and experience!
I attended a gig in London, Hackney with one of my best friends and it was a lot of fun!
BYOB and some people even brought some food which made us feel like we were in a friend's place while listening to some talented artists.
Fully recommend it, such a beautiful, cosy atmosphere for these small gigs, made some friends during the event too!
