TD Bank on Long Beach Island, NJ, is the worst bank you will ever encounter. Its manager, Sebastian Salazar, is incompetent and clearly filling a quota. Can’t move my accounts out of this bank fast... See more

Update-Terrible Experience TD Bank on Line of Credit
I posted on TD in MAY of 2026 sending it to TD Management. Revised here starting with
BACKGROUND --After writing to the TD Board of Directors and Senior Management recently, I received absolutely no response to a 19 year saga on my line of credit amid serious upselling, rudenes poor explanations and extra charges. Boards are obligated to respond to governance and ethical concerns regarding client service.
Ethical and governance concerns based on my experience can impact shareholder value outcomes. It's all connected...Reputation has a direct effect on share purchase. The more customers exiting the bank in outrage and the poor calibre of staff TD may attract because of their reputation may lead to the absence of skilled staff and good training leading to more mistakes . Further declines in private wealth management assignments because of word of mouth may cause investors with seven figures or more to go elsewhere. Division profit declines. This is a shame because good investment management advisors at TD will suffer.
Someone suggested last week that I see what it was like on the ground floor so I spoke to a Bank Manager Mr. Karmali last week in Toronto at my branch. Though he pretended to engage, it appears training shows personnel are as bad on the ground floor at deflecting. Definitely a top down culture that appears NOT to be “about being more human” as the new ads say but an unwillingness to face a firmly entrenched attitude that the average client does not matter at TD. Silence is a powerful form of rejection.
MY DIALOGUE WITH MR. KARMALI LAST WEEK. After providing information including the original line of credit document with the illegible signature of the TD REP about 19 years ago, he refused to identify the name that is poorly written and legally should have been printed. I did not know what this variable rate meant and stand by the fact that I did not sign on for this rate. I repeat, I have fought this for a long time.
Karmali says “ However, after completing my review, I have reached the limit of what I am able to assist with at the branch level and I do not have the authority to provide the interest rate adjustment or other remedies you have requested”. I asked who had the authority to which he did not reply. What was the point of going through that? Where is the transparency?
My credit rating is good and I pay about 500.00 per month on a 10K line of credit it and rarely use it. I have not used my overdraft for 3 years. The interest rate of 13.44% adds about $1000.00 extra per year on my payments.
EXCERPT FROM MAY POST ON CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD: “so I wrote to the Chair of the Board of Directors John B. Macintyre after starting off with TD Customer Complaints Office where I thought to copy the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer, The VP and Head of the Senior Customer Complaints Office and the Group Fraud Management Vice President, Business Management at TD Bank Group outlining the issues and asking for clarification on information I later found that was either hidden from me in the investigation or simply lost. Correspondence included attachments of scanned documents and emails over the years.
Towards the end of this tortuous journey, I contacted Senior Media Relations Staff and the Head of Investor Relations at TD Bank as this is also an issue about shareholder value and corporate governance hoping they would forward to someone who could respond to my very concerning queries.
This experience was mind numbing even though I also CC’d senior management at the time I was dealing with TD Senior Customer Complaints Office. That final verdict earlier this year was that SCCO would not change the line of credit interest rate. I had found new information shortly after in letters from Senior Management going back 9 years ago. I resubmitted asking for a new investigation and did not hear a thing.
VERDICT: I can only say that there is a very chilling response to a client's complaints regarding ethical concerns. As we know, TD Bank has been in the news because of other unethical behaviour and it appears that it has chosen to continue on this path. To not have anybody respond to my queries at the highest level suggests that clients are not a priority and the people who hold senior management positions have no desire to rectify these concerns.
It is my opinion that TD Bank is a poor place to put one's money or to even think of using it for one’s stock portfolio. I would run not walk to another bank. I'm going to send this to all the email contacts I have at TD Bank and see if I get a response. (NO, DID NOT GET ONE ON THE LAST POST).
Hopefully, others will learn from this especially if you are beginning to bank or looking for a role in banking. Silence to a client's needs is the start of a downward spiral in any company. Banks are not immune.
TD Horrible Handling of 48 Fraudulent Transactions
I never imagined I would be writing a public post like this, but I believe consumers deserve to hear about my experience with TD Bank so they can make informed decisions about who they trust with their money.
My TD card information was not only compromised—it appears to have been added to a Google Pay wallet without my knowledge or authorization. My understanding is that adding a card to a digital wallet normally requires some form of identity verification, which includes a verification code sent to the telephone number registered with the bank. I never received a verification code, text message, email, telephone call, or any other notification indicating that someone was attempting to add my card to Google Pay.
What concerns me even more is what happened afterward.
A total of 48 unauthorized transactions in a period of 8 days were processed through my account, including 44 transactions at Home Depot alone. None of these purchases were made or authorized by me or anyone in my household.
How could this volume and pattern of transactions not trigger a potential fraud alert? How could 44 transactions at the same retailer be processed without TD Bank contacting me, temporarily placing the card on hold, or asking me to confirm whether the activity was legitimate?
I never received a fraud alert, suspicious-transaction notification, telephone call, or text message. My card was never placed on hold while these transactions were being processed.
We also have accounts with CIBC in Canada and U.S. Bank in the United States. In the past, both institutions have notified me promptly whenever they detected irregular activity or transactions outside our normal spending patterns. How TD Bank failed to exercise that same level of vigilance while 48 unauthorized transactions were processed—including 44 at a single retailer in just 8 days—is beyond my understanding.
Even the OPP officer who is currently investigating the case was shocked at the number of transactions and told me that, in his opinion, this type of activity should have resulted in fraud alerts and the card being placed on hold until the transactions could be verified.
As soon as I became aware of the unauthorized activity, I reported it and fully cooperated with TD Bank’s fraud investigation. I provided extensive documentation, answered every question asked of me, and continued working with both the bank and law enforcement to determine what happened. An OPP investigation is currently underway, and Home Depot is also reviewing the transactions to identify the specific store locations involved.
Despite the seriousness of this situation, I have not received proactive or meaningful updates from TD Bank regarding the status of my case. Instead, I have repeatedly had to follow up myself to obtain information.
Adding to my frustration, TD Bank declined my initial fraud claim within 24 hours and then denied my appeal approximately 12 hours later. I have now been forced to escalate the case further within TD Bank.
From my perspective, TD Bank reached these decisions remarkably quickly. I find it difficult to understand how a detailed and thorough investigation could have been completed within such a short timeframe. I have yet to receive a satisfactory explanation addressing several critical questions:
• How was my card added to Google Pay without my knowledge or authorization?
• What verification method was used, and where was any verification code or request sent?
• Why did 48 unauthorized transactions—including 44 at Home Depot—not trigger a fraud alert?
• Why was my card not placed on hold until TD could confirm the transactions with me?
• Why did I receive no telephone call, text message, email, or suspicious-activity notification?
• What evidence did TD rely upon when it decided to decline my claim?
We trust financial institutions to safeguard our accounts, detect unusual transaction patterns, investigate fraud thoroughly, communicate openly, and stand behind their customers when something goes wrong.
I sincerely hope TD Bank’s escalated investigation rectifies this situation, reimburses the funds taken from our account, acknowledges the significant inconvenience and stress this has caused us, and takes accountability for any failures in the systems and safeguards intended to protect our account.
They canceled my credit card for no good reason and it poorly effected my credit score!
TD Bank canceled my credit card that I had for YEARS because I wasn't paying it off fast enough for them, although I was making all my minimum payments, if not more, and and was never a day late in making those payments. My credit score is good, it's actually better then when I got the card. When the card expires, they are closing me account and not reissuing when more payments are made, which will actually hurt my credit more then just maybe locking in until a dent is made in the balance. I actually didn't even want the card, but their sales man in Fairfield CT literally wouldn't let me move on with my other transactions until I said I would try it, which I'm sure isn't ethical either. Our checking account has also been hacked several times, so security is far from great. They have 1 in branch our city, so we have to drive across town to use a bank issues ATM and not get charged their insane almost $4.00 fee for using another banks ATM when sometimes we just don't have a choice cause they don't give us one. Honestly I think 2 stars is generous.
TD America's most Inconvenient Bank
I became a TD Bank customer when they took over a part of Commerce Bank in NYC. In the beginning they were super convenient. (For anyone who isn't aware TD stands for Toronto Dominion Bank which is a dominating bank in Canada.) TD Banks here are a separate entity but still connected. There were no fees, free coin counting, etc. I also used them because I visit Canada a lot and when I used my debit card in Canada to pay or withdraw, there were no international transaction fees and in fact they converted the transaction to reflect the currency exchange (USA$$ is much stronger than CAD.) I could withdraw money from my American TD account using a TD Canada machine with no ATM fees and receive the beneficial exchange. TD now charges international fees to any American customer making a purchase in Canada however if I withdraw money from a TD ATM and pay in that cash, there is no fee.
I can still also transfer money from my American account and Canadian accounts for free over the phone and it's done quickly with the generous currency exchange.
TD became an American bank and lost their way. TD banks here no longer replace ATM cards on site. They will complete the replacement but I will receive the card in the mail. They do provide me the ability to tap to pay immediately.
When I mentioned to a TD bank manager here in NYC about how essentially a Canadian bank is fleecing customers with fees he had no knowledge of the political clashes between Canada and the USA.
I only maintain my TD account for convenience for when I go to Canada. MY main accounts are with Capital One. They don't charge international purchase fees. However, Capital one uses the Discover Card network and that makes purchases difficult some places.
TD was once great and now it's fallen in in line with the other US banks

Waited 1hr and 50 min on the phone for advisor who then told me “there was nothing they could do”. Unbelievably poor customer service
Forcing your payment to be late by playing with the clock
For years , TD Bank use to be the most convenient bank but turned the way Capitol One used to be . Another horrible bank in the American roster . Their machines usually don't work , and if you have a credit card with them, make sure to pay the bill before 5.00 PM on the same day of the due date or you get a late charge. Best bank now is JP Morgan/ Chase .... Time to fly this nest .
TD Bank is a horrendous bank to deal with!
TD Bank is the worst customer experience I've ever been involved with in my 76 years living! It's amazing they can't involve themselves with their antiquated, dysfunctional issues AND CHANGE FOR THE BETTER!!
WAKE UP TARGET AND CHANGE TO ANOTHER CREDIT CARD BANK ASAP!!
All of these negative reviews are a reflection on Target's horrendous business choices!
In June I received a voice mail from TD…
In June I received a voice mail from TD main branch (Winnipeg) indicating I had mail to pickup. I called and asked what I need to pickup and was told the TD Visa I had applied for. I did not apply for a TD Visa and inquired where that was done apparently it was done online. TD indicted they would look into it and call me back, I waited and called back in 3 days and was told it appeared to be fraudulent and they would cancel the card, I inquired how that could happen and was told they had some of my personal information. Today I checked Equifax and find it shows I have an open TD Visa. Called again main branch and was told they couldn’t help me to call TD online. Call TD online and they told me there wasn’t an open TD Visa card opened in my name, I was informed it was up me to clear up the Equifax reporting.
However TD reported to them on July 6 that I had opened a TD Visa card. I therefore have to correct TD’s error GREAT! Where did they get my personal information from to apply online, could it be a data breach by TD? I have been a customer for over 30 years and over the past year have had the worst experiences, TFSA offered an unreasonable interest rate and told I could go elsewhere if I wanted, that I’d exactly what I did, moved my funds to another financial institution over twice the interest rate and great service. TD charge 300.00 to move the TFSA and it took 3 weeks. I have closed my savings and moved those funds. MY RRSP are next and they will charge me a fees for those as well. I am done with them and be warned it could happen to you.
Fraud victim
I would send victim of scam in March having to close a checking account that I’ve had open for a decade. When opened the new checking account somehow the scammer got my physical card number and tried making purchases on Apple. That was considered identity, theft, and the original scam dispute they claim that I was conspiring in the scam, leaving my account overdrawn several months with my only income as disability.
I cannot wait to get rid of this Bank…
I cannot wait to get rid of this Bank they are taking advantage of everybody all their customers they keep charging me overdraft fees when I put my account in the positive by the next business day like they say 11:00 p.m. all my notices say the same thing you call them and they totally say something different now I realize that they have so many class action suits against them since 2022 because they're taking advantage of all their customers ripped them off pocketing the money crooks don't use TD Bank or you lose millions of dollars like me
I applied for HELOC loan application…
I applied for HELOC loan application over a month ago with TD Bank and their all the staff members gave me run around for almost a month. And they asked me irrelevant documentation which has nothing to do with my loan. I strongly believe they discriminated me because of my ethnicity. After all this frustration I applied for my HELOC loan application on July 13 with Citizens Bank and they are about to sign my closing documentation tomorrow. Which is huge difference between these two Banks. Citizens Bank is so easy to deal with and quick that I was really shocked and surprised. It is just amazing experience.
TD Bank is the worst bank
TD Bank is the worst bank
TD Bank is the worst bank. Make sure to choose any other bank, literally any other bank, even wells fargo is a better choice, and they were caught committing fraud.
TD bank charged me fees that did not apply to my accounts since day one, and I had to call repeatedly to ask to have them corrected.
They also charged me a credit line fee for a credit line I never used, and refused to give me the fee amount back. The manager gaslit me saying that he had explained this would happen, but I took notes on all of our meetings, specially about any fees that could come up, and I had noted that he said "As long as you don't use the CL, you will not be charged a fee", but he denied it. No shame.
Upon closing my CC account with them, they refused to redeem my points, because unlike all other reasonable banks that will redeem your points no matter what, they decided they will enforce a minimum of points that you myst have to be redeemable. While the total of remaining points only amounted to $22.11 that they would have to pay me. Can you imagine what would happen if I owe them $22.11 that I refused to pay them? They would triple that amount with interests each week for the rest of my life.
They are quick to lend to small businesses because they hope businesses will fail and they can take their collateral.
Had an account for 26 years when they…
Had an account for 26 years when they sent me a letter saying they conducted a “review” and decided to drop me with no reason given. Not only that, I was told to go to the branch, and the branch said I need to call the number on the letter. So I call them and they say they need to “contact the branch manager” before ghosting me. Called back 2 days later and they send me to another line which tells me quite smugly that they don’t have to give a reason and you’re pretty much on your own. Would put 0 stars if I could.
Pierrefonds branch on st Charles,,
Pierrefonds branch on st Charles,,, should b 0000,ABSOLUTELY BAD AND WORSE,GO ELSEWHERE,BUT THINK ALL AS BAD,,,SYSTEM IS, WE PAY THEY COLLECT,,,NOTHING ELSE,NOTHING.
Not so convenient after all
I thought TD Bank was supposed to be more convient but it's not. I never received my new card called the bank closed my old bank so I said I'll go to the bank so they can print me out a new one. They no longer issue you a debt card, you have to wait 7 to 10 business days for a new one. I had to leave work early to solve nothing. I have no card to get cash out, I would have to leave work early because they close by 5 and get off early. The teller didn't even tell me I withdrew too much money which left me in the negative. She said we can expedite you a card but you will charge you $33. I just can't believe that
My experience with TD Bank’s handling…
My experience with TD Bank’s handling of a short sale and loan modification has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. For over seven months, the bank has failed to provide clear communication, consistent updates, or transparency regarding the status of the account.
Throughout the process, we received conflicting information, experienced long periods with no response, and were repeatedly left waiting without any clear direction. Because of TD Bank’s delays and lack of communication, the seller lost two qualified buyers who were unwilling to continue waiting for the bank to respond.
Meanwhile, the seller’s credit continues to be negatively affected each month, while the outstanding debt grows due to accumulating interest. A short sale is already a stressful and financially difficult process, and TD Bank’s mishandling has made the situation significantly worse.
Clients deserve honest communication, timely decisions, and accurate information—especially when their credit, finances, and ability to sell their home are at risk. Based on this experience, I would not recommend TD Bank for anyone dealing with a loan modification or short sale.

Title: Disappointed with TD Cash Credit Card dispute handling during a family emergency
I am extremely disappointed with how TD Bank handled my dispute involving an Airbnb rental charge of **$1,898**.
My family and I had planned a trip beginning June 30, 2026. Unfortunately, my father became very ill, and the hospice nurse advised us not to go because he was expected to pass within days. My father passed away on June 2, 2026. This was an incredibly painful and unexpected situation for my entire family.
I contacted the rental company that hosted the Airbnb reservation on **May 28, 2026**, to cancel the trip. I did not purchase Airbnb’s travel insurance because I believed my TD Cash Credit Card would provide some protection or support in the event of a serious emergency like this.
I filed my dispute with TD on **May 19, 2026**, but I have been very disappointed by the lack of understanding and assistance regarding this situation. This was not a casual cancellation or a change of plans—it involved the death of my father and a hospice nurse’s advice that we stay home with him.
I expected more compassion, clarity, and support from TD Bank during such a difficult time. I hope TD will review my case fairly and reconsider the dispute for the **$1,898** charge.
