Give it a go!

I entered on the chance of winning a Fender bass guitar, and was delighted to actually win! Got an email straight away to inform me and it arrived perfectly packaged a week later (with a travel bag which I wasn't expecting)! It is in near perfect condition considering it is second hand and sounds and plays amazing. A great way to win something I could never afford to buy outright. Thank you.

Vintera II '70s Strat

Absolutely chuffed to bits to win a Vintera II '70's Strat - you always imagine these things aren't real, and no one ever wins, but it's completely legit. You can see the odds of winning - someone always does - you can do the maths and see what the probability of it being you and make your own mind up.

The guitar is an absolute beauty - arrived within a week of the draw - could not be happier!

Over the moon!

What can I say? I am over the moon with the guitar marketplace! I won an amazing guitar, the kind one only dreams of! The process was fast transparent and straightforward. No shady business. The team answered all my emails very professionally. The guitar arrived in pristine condition.

I can honestly recommend the guitarmarketplace team to anyone.

Who knows? For 2£ you may win your dream guitar.

legit but some errors

So first of I am delighted that I won. I only purchased one ticket and by chance it was the winning one!
The team were quick to contact and ship. So everything is legit.

A few reasons I’ve marked this down as 2 instead of 5/5.

I wouldn’t have said this guitar was as described. I’m looking at the page just now and it was a used guitar described as 9/10. Previous reviews, the guitar market place have described 9/10s as, used with a couple of minor scratches and slight fret wear. This guitar has LOADS of scratches, many more than minor, as well as chips/dents. The finish around the edges of the guitar has chipped (it could have shrunk given its nitro) leaving exposed wood. It also has pitting to some of the frets which I would class as more than minor wear.

The output jack for the electronics is loose. The strings are clearly used, and the guitar definitely isn’t clean, on top of not being packed very well as it didn’t come in a hard case, it wasn’t advertised with a case I’m just pointing out that it wasn’t packed well. I’ve worked in guitar stores and build guitars, this one wasn’t packed very well.

It just gives off an air of not caring very much. A quick set of strings and a polish would have made a difference.

The guitar also doesn’t have a richlite fretboard it’s rosewood, so for used guitars I don’t know if I can trust their specs. I’m also fairly confident the back and sides of the guitar are not mahogany, I think they’re bubinga as this model did come in both at different times.

Overall they to me the company is legit in terms of you can win a guitar for not much money. But my caution or perhaps constructive criticism to the company would be, the guitar may not be in the condition advertised, may not even be the specs they advertise, and may show up not very well packed. This was a Gibson as well, and we all know how they’re fond of breaking during shipping!

I know the store I worked at this guitar wouldn’t be 9/10 and wouldn’t even touch an 8, it’s probably 6 or a 7. If we advertised it with the wrong specs as well, we’d be getting an email to fix things so it’s not false advertising/a refund for any disgruntled customer.

Once again very happy I won a guitar but this is just the experience I’ve had and hope the marketplace can take it on board.

Hi Cameron,

We believe the information you have provided to be incorrect and vastly inaccurate.

In February, you won a guitar which was shipped promptly to you. The guitar was described as 9/10 condition on our website, not 10/10 as stated in your review. We grade our guitars from 1-10 depending on their condition. This particular guitar was awarded a 9/10 condition given that it was not brand new and showed a couple of minor scratches to the finish and small amounts of fretwear. The guitar was checked over and set up prior to dispatch, with the guitar intonating all over the fretboard and the electronics all working as they should.

We resolved this matter with you back in April and further detail was provided to you with regards to the condition of the guitar.

If you have any further queries, the team will be happy to assist.

Won a ltd 401 qm and won quite a few…

Won a ltd 401 qm and won quite a few other items also lost loads of times! But thats the gamble.just set your limits because it does become adictive and you have to be prepared to lose, but you cant beat the buzz of wining!
To be fair the lads do a great job but it would be nice if lower limits were set on tickets to stop you from loosing large amounts of money,as it seems to be the same big fish that win most of the time,it would be nice if more people had a equal chance and more prizes but thats the same for all guitar sites, cant grumble as ive just won!

I bought tickets a few times some years ago, didn't win anything, not really bothered. I left Facebook about 4 years ago, I cannot explain why I am suddenly getting emails from these people. I'm treating them as spam.

Do yourself a favour, save your ticket money and buy a Harley Benton from Thomann.

Gretsch Electromatic

Won another great guitar in these fabulous competitions. I can’t recommend this site highly enough. If there’s a guitar you’ve always craved but could never afford, why not give these competitions a go? You just never know what might happen🤞

Great service, great competitions

I have been entering competitions with The Guitar Marketplace now for some time and have been fortunate enough to win on a number of occasions in that time. The competitions are great, the team are really helpful, the guitars, bases, amps and gear are all excellent quality. Long may it continue!

Best purchase prices

The sister company FatBottomGuitars offered me the best prices for my guitars, as long as they could put them up for competition. The money was paid out on time and any feelings of doubt were reassured and communicated, with legal contracts to back them up.

Ben, the director, dealt with me directly and was kind and patient. I would happily come back in the future if/when I choose to sell more of my guitars.

although I cant speak on the competition side of things, they are a small group of like minded people who are here for the customer

Thank you to the team at TGM/FBG!

Honest review from a winner

I assume most of you are reading this to check the authenticity of the website. A few weeks ago I did the same and after finding enough evidence, I assumed The Guitar Marketplace was legit and bought some tickets. Days after buying tickets for a 2nd competition I was emailed and told I had won. I immediately jumped on to the livestream to confirm it was real (and yes, my name was drawn for a fantastic Fender Jazz Bass). Waiting for the delivery was nervewracking, and after a week I chased up for an update. The owner is very kind and patient and he told me he had been busy, but the bass was to be sent the following Monday. It arrived Wednesday well packaged, in perfect condition, and yes, it's a genuine Fender. Thanks so much TGM, I scored a £1k bass for about £5. I'll continue to support the business as I'm after a Les Paul next!

bit disappointed (even though I won)

Ok , so I did in fact win a guitar !! Guitar is worth about £700+ depending on condition.
The guitar I won was advertised as a 9/10 condition. But when I received it I noticed this guitar has had the hell played out of it, though the finish was in excellent condition, the metal was extremely grubby and heavily tarnished (hadn’t been cleaned very often with “residue” around all fixing’s and frets and pickups , strings were rusty and old (but we change those on a new guitar anyway ) ..
but the frets , and fret board..
frets are moderately to heavily worn and uneven up and down the board .. so in terms of being a daily player it’s not as likely as a re-fret looks needed but not sure whether the hassle is worth it. The fret board is also needing work with chips and scores and depressions worn into it.

Look, I got a guitar for less than it’s worth , but the condition was misleading.. I’d just be weary about the second hand guitars in the draws, I’m sure the new ones are just fine.

I leave the review as a 4* purely as I feel I might have just been unlucky with this one in terms of condition. Guitar arrived promptly and well packaged (in padded gig bag)

Couple of wins

I have won a couple of guitars from The Guitar Marketplace and very pleased with what I've received.
Although I have spent a few pounds I am quid's in with what I have won (so far). Highly recommend.
