We sent a Surface in for repair a year…

UPDATE: About three hours after this review we where contacted by UK-Repairs, they spoke to a colleague of mine and seemed more concerned with getting this review removed than fixing the issue. Shortly afterwards I started having emails asking me to remove it. 3 weeks later we have had a surface returned to us, it was dirty when it arrived, though to their credit it was working.

UK-Repairs claimed they cannot find our payment for repair (though we have provided proof several times) and since the surface has arrived I have had multiple emails harassing me to change/remove my review. So I have now updated it to reflect the service received since my first review.

Speaking directly to UK-Repairs - stop emailing me. If you had been this consistent with communication and provided better service before then you would not have received a negative review.

Original: We sent a Surface in for repair a year ago, no contact from the company without being chased multiple times. After a year told us it was in transit to be delivered back, still not received back and the company still aren't picking up the phone or answering their livechat.

Great work! 5 star service

My windows laptop was not charging at all and if you took the plug out it died.
I was quite frustrated as I had to go away for work in a couple days.
Noor was really helpful and amazing , my laptop was not easy to fix but we got there in the end and he did a great job. Surface laptops are hard to fix but Noor did an amazing work. I was able to take it away for a couple days without the need to keep it plugged in. I recommend Noor and it was an absolute pleasure! He even worked late night to help me out.

UK- Repairs.com

Spoke to Ali at UK- Repairs.com about a surface pro cracked screen replacement. Drove to Harrow, while we waited 30min or so Ali replaced the screen with a new genuine Microsoft Surface screen providing a 1 year guarantee and receipt by email. Highly recommended and competent engineer at a reasonable affordable price. Great customer service at a short notice as well.

Room for perfection

Following an engineer visit to replace my Surface battery, there was some minor damage to the edge of my Surface device. The webcam inside the screen was also not correctly aligned and contained some dust which affects the camera. After complaining about this over email, the company offered a partial refund and an offer to replace the damaged bezel. Overall I was satisfied with the response and partial refund and offer to fix the problem.

Excellent Service

Noor was very professional and very thorough with his work in changing my battery on my Microsoft surface pro 4 device.

Within 15 mins he was done. He was also able to provide me advice on how to care for my device espcially especially when charging it, which I will be doing from now on.

Thanks so much for all your help. I will be telling my friends and colleague.

Excellent
My experience was overall positive. I wanted to have the screen of my surface book 2 15inch fixed and a replacement battery installed so I could give it to a friend as a present. I tried everywhere in London no one had the screen in stock when I called uk repairs they said they have it and can be done same day while I wait so I took it to them. Noor fitted new battery and screen on my device under two hours looks like new now.
Im very happy and satisfied with the repair, which happened in this lockdown.
The cost of repair was also reasonable. I would definitely recommend UK-repairs.com to others!

Horrible service

My service book cannot switch on in September 2020, After read so many good reviews about UK repair and try to help small business during this difficult time, I decided to let UK repair to repair my surface book, but my nightmare start from that day. I really think all these good reviews are make up by UK repair, In my opinion, they are just good enough to replace the protective screen only.
the followings are the timescale of my nightmare and I got all the text, whatapp message to prove how bad UK repair service is.

After I read all the good review about UK repair, so I phone him to make an appointment to repair my surface book, because I live not far from Harrow, I can drive there, so my appointment is on 24/8/2020 at 9.00 at Honeyport Lane Harrow

When I arrived there, I found that there is no such office in Honeyport Lane, then I phone him for advice, he said he is not in the office and ask me to drive a few miles to his workshop which is in Duffy Avenue, when I arrive there, I found they it is a residential area, not a workshop, his father open the door and ask me to drop it off, he said his son will contact me.

I received a message that my surface book need a new mother board which cost me £ 489.99, I need my surface book repair so I agree to repair it but I mentioned I need the old motherboard back and the invoice so I can claim the money back from my manager, he said there is not problem to provide the invoice to me and will sent me the photo of the old motherboard.

I informed that my surface is ready and I can collect it on that day, when I pick it up, I have no chance to check it because as I mentioned before, the address is not a workshop, it's a residential house, his father just open the door to pass my surface book to me after I transferred the money to his personel account, he ask me to check it when I am back home, I did check it in my car, yes, it can swich on, that's all I can check.

I found that my surface book cannot connect to wifi, after using window build-in trouble shooting, it show that it is hardware problem, it stuck in flight mode, that's why I cannot use wifi and bluetooth as well, then I phone him to tell him the problem, He keep saying it is software problem, nothing do with him and it was working when I receive it, I said I collected it on his door step, no chance to check it and thier website said all their repair is garentee for one year not one day, I also sent him the screen shot of the window report to prove it is hardware problem, eventually, he agree to check it again and ask me to make an appointment to drop off to him.

after several chase up, he told me he want another £239.99 to replace the wifi chip of my surface book, I've told him again, it is not only wifi problem, it stuck in flight mode, ther is no bluetooth as well, then he said he will check it again.

I drive there to collect my surface book, when I am back home, I found that the physical volume button stuck inside as well, I am so angry to text him to let him know and promise him I will write a review to reflect my nightmare with UK repair
Eventually, my surface book is so badly damaged by UK repair, I need to trade it in to replace with window surface pro.
I like to mention that he never ever provide me the repair invoice.

EDIT 1 - After I posted a true, honest and sincere review about UK-Repairs, I recevie an e-mail from Trustpilot to ask me to amend my reveiw because it contain a traceable personal information, I partly agree with that, because firstly, their FULL ADDRESS are published on their web-site it is open for public, secondly, business address is not personal but I still happy to deleted the house number of their so call workshop, wish this can fullfill Trustpilot private requirement because I believe it is not traceble now, if anybody like to have their FULL ADDRESS, you can go to their website uk-repairs.com, I post the locations of UK-repairs is don't want my review affect another company if they have the same

SURFACE PRO 4 BATTERY REPLACEMENT VIA…

SURFACE PRO 4 BATTERY REPLACEMENT VIA MAIL-IN 'SERVICE'
I came across UK-Repairs via Google search. As I live in Manchester and UKR are based in Harrow, London, the mail-in repair option seemed ideal. This is where the nightmare began.
A quick read through the reviews on this site will show that all the bad reviews come from their mail-in service. Once these jokers have your gear in their hands don't expect to see it again for weeks - and get fleeced into the deal.
Their website promises 'next working day' repairs. They quoted £190, which for a £50 battery and a couple of hours of labour was a bit top heavy but acceptable. The SP4 was signed for at UKR's workshop on 29 July 2020. A day passed, not a word. I emailed them and was told that the SP4 was 'in process'. Days turned to weeks. I would email them asking for an update and when the SP4 would be returned. Some emails were answered with the 'in process' claim, others were ignored. After two weeks, during which I was unable to work from home due to not having the SP4, and losing income, I gave them 48-hours to return the SP4 or I would report it as stolen. The following day I received and email saying that the battery had been replaced, but it also needed a new 'charging chip', doubling the cost of repair! Desperate to get the SP4 back , I reluctantly agreed - asking that the old chip be returned in the box. They agreed. (Side note: A search reveals that faulty 'charging chips' only occur/exist on SP4s when in the hands of one company... yup, UKR!)
They returned the SP4 (working, but with the screen coming away from one edge), rammed into the box it was sent in, looking like it had been torn open by a wild animal. I looked up the datasheet of the 'charging chip' they sent - it was a random chip and not anything to to with charging. I raised this with UKR who then told me that they had not replaced the 'charging chip' but replaced two diodes (£1.10 each) instead. £180 for £2.10 worth of components and a few seconds' work (basically swapping two fuses) on an already open laptop!!! After many emails UKR agreed to refund the £180 - on the condition that I returned the SP4 to them so they could remove the diodes (and make the SP4 unusable). Clearlt this was not going to happen! I suggested that they simply deduct the £2.20 cost of diodes and refund the balance. At this point their story changed again... now they claimed to have replaced the entire charging circuit board (apparently coating £85). Another quick search reveals that (surprise, surprise) there is no such circuit board in a SP4. A threat of civil action and reporting them to Trading Standards resulted in a partial refund. Not great, but I'm just glad to be rid of them.
Also, they advertise 'return postage fee of £7.99'. I was charged £25.00 despite the actual cost being £11.00 and UKR reusing the packaging I had sent the device in.
You're left feeling hustled and held in contempt. There's zero communications, with devices essentially being held hostage until additional 'repairs' (that can't be verified) are paid for. Don't fall for UKR's flashy (and poorly written) website. A bit of searching will throw up a few other firms that repair Surface Pros, I'd suggest giving them a try. Whatever you do, avoid UK-Repairs like COVID-19! I wouldn't trust them with a £5 pop-up toaster!

Clean cooker

I must say our cooker was in a bit of a state!! I can honestly say that now my cooker looks amazing. Its the cleanest I have seen it. Simon was lovely and did an amazing job.

Frustrating service

I don't usually feel compelled to complain, in fact this is my first online review. Very, very disappointing level of service.
Had a windows tablet with broken screen. Arranged for it to be collected, no problem.
- Wasn't told it had arrived (as they promise)
- Wasn't ever told how long it would be(as they promise)
- Chased continuously for updates
- Was promised email updates that never came
- They had it for three weeks
- Tablet returned without original box (no resolution here, I've given up after chasing)
- Tablet rattles intermittently

Probably not this bad all the time I'm sure - but I wouldn't use again, and advise caution to those that do

Had a problem with my gas cooker ,insurance company arranged a gas engineer to call , he rang the night before said what time he would be here and on the dot he arrived , well what excellent manners did the job very professionally showed us what had gone wrong , showed us what he'd replaced ,all in all a job well done thank you Terry from cleethorpes
