Headlines: Great service, great product, would highly recommend both!
We needed a new climbing frame/swing set as our children had outgrown the one we already had. We realised that anything picked up off the high street wouldn't be big enough so we needed to look further afield.
After much research we decided to go with the Berg Playbase Extra Large Active Set. At the time of writing this was nearly £2,000 so it represented a significant investment. My fear with something like this is: what if there's a problem with it? Because of this I researched both Berg (the manufacturer). and Wicken Toys (the retailer) in detail. One thing that stood out for Wicken Toys is that they use their own delivery staff. This was really important to me as, given the price, I wanted as little exposure as possible to the potential for damaged, delayed or missing packages.
Wicken Toys aren't a chain and are based in Milton Keynes. Given that we're in Yorkshire we expected to wait for delivery.
We placed the order around noon on a Tuesday. Two hours later we got a call asking if they could deliver the following day.
By noon the following day Wicken Toys' delivery van was outside the house unloading two very-well packaged and undamaged boxes. The delivery driver would have - if we'd paid for the option - installed the climbing frame and he very helpfully offered construction advice before he left.
One thing that always concerns me about high-value, self-build purchases, is that a single missing screw could derail the entire construction. As I'm sure anyone with children will know, sometimes the only thing worse than not having a new climbing frame is having a climbing frame in boxes on the patio. We didn't have any missing parts but Berg also don't include any spares (screws, washers etc) in the box. The delivery driver, however, assured me that if there were any issues, all we had to do was call the store and they'd take the missing part from their stock and send it up to us which was all I needed to hear to relax.
Both people I spoke to at Wicken Toys were attentive and polite and, though not needed, I am confident that they would have been able to resolve any issues had they arisen.
The Playbase itself is amazing - it's clearly a premium product that is built to last. Construction does take time and part of me does wish I'd paid for the installation option but it's up now, our children love it, and it is really, really sturdy. It's been up for a month now and it remains absolutely faultless - we are really pleased with this purchase and it's an amazing addition to the garden!
Good all round
The product is great, the price was good, the website easy to navigate, and delivery was swift.
What more could you ask for?

Exactly as ordered - Good Fun...!
The kart we ordered arrived exactly when it was supposed to and was well-packaged and complete with all parts. It was straightforward to assemble and our 4 year old grandson loves driving it around the garden.
Brilliant climbing frame and slide for…
Brilliant climbing frame and slide for daughter (4). Being able to see all the products was also great. Delivery was also fast and smooth.
Excellent customer and build service!
Self Assembly instructions misleading
I ordered the Plum Wooden Monkey Bars with metal rungs for my grandaughter. The delivery service was good and the wooden structure does seem robust. However the assembly (no e) was certainly not 'easy' and it took us far longer than '2-3 hours' and required tools we did not own.
Eventually having got it up it was not straight!
I phoned for advice and was basically told I should have paid the extra £200 to have it put up for me!
Maybeyou should be more honest and helpful in your descriptions.
