Fantastic day out for the family

We visited All Things Wild with our daughter and 18-month-old twin grandsons, and we all had a fantastic day. The site is much larger than we expected with so many things to keep children of all ages entertained all day. The animals were fascinating, and the animated dinosaur park, complete with a land train, felt like a mini Jurassic Park, the kids loved it!
Friendly staff throughout. Well worth a visit if you have young children, we’ll definitely be back annually.

Excellent pre-Christmas experience

We took our granddaughter to the Santa at the Zoo event on Saturday. I thought it was expensive at £70 for the 3 of us, including a visit to Santa but actually, it was excellent value for money: it was easy to park, activities were well planned and well staffed and visitor numbers were well managed so it wasnt too busy. Granddaughter loved the soft play area and seeing the animals, including camels, reindeer and her favourite Capybara and the meeting with Santa was excellent, with lots of opportunity for photos. Granddaughter got to choose her gift from the toy store and it was good quality. Recommend highly.

Mixed

My impressions of this zoo were mixed. Some areas were a bit shabby, whilst others were fine. Some enclosures were quite small, with a certain amount of stimulation for the animals; others were bigger but pretty barren. It was sad to see a red kangaroo alone. Even if it had a companion that was out of sight, kangaroos are social animals and, if it's not possible to cater for the needs of a particular species, then it should not be kept, in my view. The enclosures for birds restricted their scope for flight and I can only hope that the Harris hawk (also appeared to be alone, but perhaps wasn't), is flown regularly, otherwise its circumstances are not good. It was also distressing to see the tayra going round and round its cage, desperately looking for a way out. The staff on reception were friendly and welcoming and I enjoyed the vegetarian wrap I had for lunch. The dinosaur exhibit would be very appealing to children and I am sure that they love looking at the animals. However, I came away feeling fairly sorry for the inmates.
