Terrible company

Terrible company. I am paying for extended travel insurance and when my flight in the Philippines gets delayed by 24h due to weather apparently they don’t cover the extra costs that occurred as they only cover delays to the Nordics??? That makes absolutely no sense.

false advertising / breach of insurance policies

I am very disappointed with Hedvig.

On their website and in their policies, they clearly state that they cover undiagnosed diseases. But when the time came, they made the claims process extremely difficult and stressful.

My cat was diagnosed in 2025 with TR, a hereditary disease. However, because her medical journal in 2023 mentioned she had “a bit of tartar,” Hedvig decided to hold my claim, arguing that she had the disease before. This feels unfair — aren’t they the ones who promote covering undiagnosed conditions?

I’ve had to spend countless hours digging through all of my cat’s old medical records just to prove that she didn’t have this disease before. Instead of supporting us, they’ve caused unnecessary stress during an already difficult time.

They want you to pay for the membership, but when it comes to covering surgeries and hospital bills — what they advertise — they fight you on it. It feels like false advertising and very unprofessional.

Even if they end up approving my claim, the amount of stress and frustration they have caused me is unacceptable.

So disappointed. 1 star. 👎

I was a client at Hedvig for 2 years

I was a client at Hedvig for 2 years. I got robbed on a vacation and they kept on telling me they want to see my phone call to the police and after I showed them a print screen of the call they said no they want to also see my police report when it was filed i said but the police called me in after a few days and i had to come in for a meeting. They told me no its not the right date on the report even though it was dated a few days after with mentioning the date on the accident. They kept on fighting with me for 1 year, i lost 12 000 euro value of things and they didn't compensate me.

Horrible customer support

Horrible customer support. Not only do they not answer your questions. But when they do answer, after days waiting, they are not service minded at all. It’s a hassle using their chat and their staff seems completely incapable of solving anything at all.

A great experience with Hedvig

A great experience with Hedvig! I am happy I choose hedvig as my home/travel insurance. They were able to help me very much when i had an emergency stay outside Sweden. I wasn’t expecting much from the coverage but when they handled my claim and gave me my coverage for the claim, it was more than what I was expecting! With that I am already thankful alongside to the agent that handled my case. Very professional! Thanks again!

Digital experience but doesnt provide the actual service

Started off great! Simple and easy to use app. Really felt like we were in good hands. Then when it came time to submit a claim the whole process was horrible. Our kitchen counter was severely damaged as someone tripped and fell into it while we had some friends over for dinner. Luckily the person was okay but unfortunately a chunk of the counter cracked off so the whole thing needed to be replaced. We tried to submit to Hedvig but they claimed that this was a foreseen accident as it was our decision to have people over for a dinner and it was expected to happen. The whole purpose of insurance is to cover for accidents as such. At least thats what I believe. Nonetheless, we talked with other insurance companies and they agreed that Hedvig was not following the contract and that we were not the first to have this experience. We quickly canceled, took our losses and went to a different company. Less digital but much nicer.

In short, they use to be good but have since gone down hill. I don't believe they will be around much longer as financially they are not doing so well and we hear from our friends that they are also switching due to concerns.

Don't get Hedvig and if you do highly consider switching as you aren't protected.

Disappointing Customer Service Experience: Lack of Communication and Understanding During a Damage Claim

I recently encountered a distressing customer service experience when attempting to address a damage issue.

Exclusively Chat-Based Support:
The absence of phone support proved to be a significant hindrance, leading to a communication gap and a lack of comprehension regarding the situation and the root cause of the problem.

Abrupt Responses and Lack of Investigation:
The customer service representative bluntly stated, "Unfortunately, we do not have any term for this damage," without taking the time to gather necessary information or engaging in any meaningful discussion. This approach left me feeling as though I was conversing with an automated bot rather than a human agent.

Hasty Conclusions Without Understanding:
Instead of examining the nature and cause of the issue, the support team seemed to extract a single word from my problem description and promptly made a conclusion. This not only overlooked the complexity of the situation but also failed to address the issue when I was in need.

Hedvig Fishy company that will respect their own contract and less what they advertise as service providers

I have been with hedvig for more than 2 years and i have submitted several cases with them. 50% of them handled in a simple way lets say but the other 50% took more than a year to get a support from them or they were simply not recognized. Therefore it is a fishy company that will not follow their own contract and less respect what they advertise as service
