Great communication and excellent service throughout. Samples were sent promptly, and they were incredibly helpful when I realised I’d measured the shade incorrectly. The lampshade arrived well packaged and looks lovely.

I had a large lampshade on a floor lamp which was damaged in a flood. I couldn’t find a replacement in a shop so researched bespoke lamps. I was so glad to have found this company online. I had questions, so couldn’t order from the website. Calls were answered quickly, usually by Gary, who was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant. I was sent two sets of fabric swatches, and was grateful to follow his advice about sizing and positioning of the shade on the stand. He kindly annotated photos I’d sent to help ensure the size of the shade and the fitting on my lamp stand worked.

The shade arrived yesterday, fits perfectly, and looks good.

Customer service like this is a rarity these days. I would definitely like to recommend (and thank) Imperial Lighting.

The communication and service offered was exceptional.
I was ordering a shade to fit an existing very traditional floor lamp and found my contact, Gary, to be extraordinarily patient, informative and, when asked, performed in manufacturing and dispatching the item to fall-in with our fit-out date.
The goods arrived on time, beautifully packed and in immaculate condition. Wonderful pleated shade. A quality shade from a quality suppler. I recommend them unreservedly.

I placed an order with the company. There was a small issue - entirely of my own making - I received superb customer service from Gary at Imperial Lighting and we now have two lovely lampshades which have made a huge difference to our living room. As I say, excellent service. My wife and I are delighted with our purchases and highly recommend this company.

I was so pleased when I found a way of creating custom shades, I actually need several in different shapes because modern shades are typically made with polyester and very frequently have a green tint that manufacturers think is going to offset the greenish light from LEDs. I also don’t need more drum shades. Because of poor online photos, I’ve had to return countless shades from other shops. I was hoping to finally get it right by ordering samples beforehand and then custom designing exactly what I need. I don’t use LEDs as they distort colour and are extremely bad for your health, I therefore need normal warm colours in natural materials. As an interior designer and artist, I most certainly believe I can do this. So I asked for samples and specified exactly what I needed based on their website options. I asked if the velvet was polyester and was told that yes it is, however it was matt, I was disappointed but still wanted to see it just in case as I’m desperate to replace an old velvet lampshade. There was no immediate response but ok, I had to wait a day or so, not such a big deal at this point.

I received samples relatively quickly and was so excited, but lo and behold, the majority was ‘faux silk’ (i.e. shiny polyester) instead of the matt cotton I had requested. I can get a million cheap shades made from faux silk online so WHY would I want to custom make my own with that kind of rubbish material?? I also received several colours I hadn’t asked for. Faux silk?? Shiny, with streaks that I did not want. Can it get any worse than that? If I wanted a silky finish, I’d buy real silk, not FAUX anything. Anyone could easily see what my preferences were from the way I phrased my query. I made it very clear I was not keen on polyester velvet.

I was so disappointed that yet again, a trader was trying to make choices for me as though I can’t possibly know my own mind! Considering I was dealing with a man, it certainly comes across as patronising mansplaining. I don’t know what is wrong with people these days but this ‘I’m a man so I know best’ seems to be happening an awful lot even when you’re a customer trying to offer them money. I complained and was told they sent faux silk because one of the cotton linings might have that green tint effect. Excuse me?? I can make that judgment myself WHEN I SEE THE SAMPLE. What else am I supposed to use then? No lining was even offered as a sample unless one of the ugly faux silk ones were meant as such. I doubt all the cottons are that way anyway, so… why?

Anyway, I was told the correct samples would be sent off asap. Fine. But days have passed and there is no sign of the samples. So apparently they don’t want my custom. I was ready to design my lamp shades a week ago and all this waiting around is really not helpful. You would think they would be eager to get my custom? And it should be obvious that people are eager to get down to creating what they have in mind while they are deep in that mind frame.

What a shame!! After years of struggling to find decent cotton shades in warm beige I have to give up on this one chance I finally saw. I don’t have words for how disappointed I am and I have lost sleep over this because finding shades to begin with is so stressful and I finally thought I had solved the problems. Instead I have run into some weirdo who doesn’t want to sell to me. I really hope someone else offers a better service and is happy to take a few hundred pounds from me.

Update: Their response just proves their attitude. They are not willing to make an effort to make things right, instead they are accusing me of being unreasonable, hysterical and unfair, and are trying to make me look bad with the comment about the ‘audience of five’ that have all looked at my complaints. Yes I really am hysterical right now as I’ve looked for a solution for years and had dreadful anxiety all weekend about this! As a ‘small family run business’ they sure seem okay with letting customers go so apparently they are not too desperate for business (sounds like a ‘poor us’ catch phrase). The correct samples showed up many days later (I had chased the issue but got no response), so it didn’t strike me as something they were trying to urgently provide, either. Once again I was offered colours I had not asked for but at least the correct ones were there. There was no green tint in the one used for lining so I don’t know what Gary was on about. Maybe they thought I was making this issue up? In that case they shouldn’t be in the lamp shade business to begin with because LEDs have had a big effect on the colours of contemporary lampshades. I asked AI for advice and it agrees that this is truly a genuine case of gaslighting and not my fault - I was never rude (gaslighting > overriding my opinion, keeping me waiting, ignoring my query, ganging up against me).

Excellent customer service, really fast order fulfilment and great quality

I had been looking for a replacement drum lampshade for my floor lamp and was struggling to find the style I wanted in the dimensions I needed. I found it on their website! The lampshades are made to order, mine looks beautiful. I also had an issue as the top of my lamp was smaller than usual, Linda found a solution and was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the ordering process.

Gary’s service was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, despite multiple queries from me in an attempt to get the absolute perfect shade. The shade even arrived with two different carrier heights to ensure it fitted the base perfectly. I cannot recommend the company highly enough.

Could not fault this company. Ordered sample, delivered next day, went on to order lampshades, delivered in a week. The quality is excellent and brilliant service. Definitely going to use them again.

Had a customised large lampshade (60xcmx40cm) made by Imperial Lighting Ltd.
The end product is fantastic, the experience in dealing with the company was fantastic (very customer focused and gave great information which was very helpful and very patient too). The website and order processing (plus any refinements) are excellent. There's not many companies out there like this - bravo Imperial Lighting! cant recommend them enough!

I bought a table lampshade and a standing lampshade as a xmas gift for my mother-in-law. I searched everywhere and couldn't find exactly what she wanted until I came across this company. The website was simple to navigate and order from. I received progress emails on my order and when they arrived 9 days later they were beautifully made and the exact colour and shape that I wanted. So pleased with the service I received. Highly recommend Imperial Lighting.

Spent ages looking for the correct lampshade to complement our living room,

I had to find matching shades for two table lamps of different size - not easy with off-the-shelf products. Imperial have a wide range of shapes and sizes and sent me fabric swatches to help me choose. The lamps were made and delivered quickly. I could not have had a better experience.

I have just received our delivery of lamp shades and the workmanship and materials are beautiful. I was a bit worried at the length of time it took however Kirsty responded to my emails immediately. My frames were misplaced however Kirsty advised she would check herself and if they could not be found they would make replacements. They were found. I would rather wait and receive this quality than receive within a week and be disappointed. Will be placing another order soon. Love when I find a company who meets my expectations.

No sign of order, and no information on the state of the order.

I cannot recommend this company more highly. I ordered 2 custom covered shades online. Within hours I had an email giving me a point of contact. Having foolishly ordered the wrong product, I contacted Imperial Lighting by phone and to my amazement I was answered by an extremely helpful human being that immediately too ownership of my problem.. I had no “press 1 for”, “press 2 for...”

I was advised of the shape that I had originally intended to order. We went through measurements over the telephone and fabric swatches were sent to me to ensure I was happy with the actual colourways. I confirmed by phone 2 days later I was happy to proceed and was informed the bespoke order would take approximately 2 weeks.

Today, just 8 days later I received the shades. They have exceeded my expectations with their customer care, workmanship, communication and packaging for safe delivery.

I will certainly be returning in the future
