Member of Nuffield gyms since 2012.

Nuffield Sheffield Gym.

Member of Nuffield gyms since 2012.

I use the Garmin Connect app during workouts purely to monitor my heart rate zones so I can ensure I am exercising safely and not under or over exerting myself.

This was known behavior and very well documented with instructors.

Prior to Garmin I used FitBit combined with MyZone for exactly the same purpose.

Garmin’s own developer documentation confirms both the camera and microphone access is unavailable 'they are by default disabled' during workout monitoring functions and cannot be enabled by the user.

The Garmin Connect app also operates perfectly well without camera or microphone permissions enabled on Android devices.

18 Jan 2026 during a Les Mills BodyCombat class, another female member falsely accused me of recording the session without first asking and without verifying anything whatsoever.

She then threw a workout mat over my phone and proceeded to tell others what she believed I was doing despite her being completely wrong.

False accusations like this are very serious.

They do damage reputations.

They do lead to wrongful investigations and potentially place innocent people at risk from the actions of others.

The area manager was personally apologetic but there was no mediation, no effort to publicly correct the accusation and no attempt at all by any staff member of Nuffield to resolve the situation.

Nuffield Corporate offices failed to respond at all.

My experience left me feeling that male members are not welcome within studio environments at this gym and especially Les Mills classes where male attendance is already very low.

As neither management nor Nuffield corporate took any meaningful action to reinforce that I had done nothing wrong, I felt I had no option but to leave and move gyms.

The female that accused me? She has no idea 'at all' of the damage and the fallout she caused.

-----

Reply to Nuffield's response: Thank you for the reply, however it still avoids the central issue entirely.

A false accusation was made publicly against a long standing member who was doing nothing more than monitoring heart rate zones during a workout using a Garmin device and app functionality already well known to instructors.

No attempt was made to verify the accusation before it was repeated to others within the class.

More importantly, once management understood I had done absolutely nothing wrong, there was still no mediation, no effort to correct the false impression created and no meaningful support offered to me as the accused member.

The lasting issue here is not simply the accusation itself, but the apparent reluctance by management to challenge a false allegation once it had been made.

Male members should feel just as safe, respected and protected from false accusations within studio environments as anyone else.

My carpl tunnel operation …

I attended the Nuffield Hospital in Newcastle under Lyme for a carpel tunnel op last week.
Mr Kevin Smith was my consultant.
I am a NHS patient but I had the most wonderful treatment at the hospital. I couldn't have had better care if I had been a paying patient. All the staff were really helpful and cheerful. The nurses put me at ease from the very start of my procedure . Mr Smith carried out my operation explaining everything he was doing as it went along . A very good experience from all the staff. Thank you.

If you’re looking for a gym with good…

If you’re looking for a gym with good equipment and good machines, you won’t find it here. They have mostly old technogym machines that don’t have good leverage or resistance profiles and I don’t think that’ll change. It’s more so for people to keep fit and use the swimming and sauna and facilities like that.

Consultation in March 26

I had a consultation in March 26 at Nuffield Health Woking after being recommended to a cardiologist. It was straightforward booking the appointment with the secretary online, I received a response very quickly. The hospital was easy to find, plenty of parking and the reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. The hospital was very clean and all staff we met were very pleasant. My consultation went well, I didn’t feel rushed at all, I felt that the time needed was given to me. Overall a very good experience and would definitely recommend the hospital.

Highly recommend PT Kym!!!!

Highly recommend Kym at the Nuneaton branch if you’re looking for a PT and thinking about starting your strength training journey — it’s been a total game changer for my confidence. I used to stick strictly to classes, but with her support, guidance, and encouragement, I’m now genuinely enjoying my workouts (something I never thought I’d say!).
Kym creates such a positive, motivating environment and really helps you push past your comfort zone in the best way. Couldn’t recommend her more!

Do not use the croydon branch

The Croydon branch is a poor excuse for a gym. There are very few usable machines at any given time, and a large number are constantly out of order or clearly in need of servicing. Several machines are stiff and poorly maintained, making workouts uncomfortable and sometimes unsafe.

The female showers are also unacceptable—there is visible mould, which raises serious hygiene concerns. On top of that, the space itself is far too small and often feels overcrowded.

For the amount charged monthly, the standard here is simply not acceptable. Basic maintenance, cleanliness, and adequate equipment availability should not be optional.

Joint Pain Programme

I have just completed a 12 week joint pain programme at the Nuffield Health Centre in Cheam, Surrey. The rehab specialist, Anthony, is super welcoming from the very start of the programme at my initial assessment and created a comfortable and inclusive space for me and the people I joined on the programme. I have learned a great deal, grown in confidence about my physical ability, my mental health has improved because I feel part of something and have socialised with like-minded people as well as achieving greater strength in my body and am managing my life without the same level of pain and discomfort I was experiencing before the programme.
The programme included time in the gym and, because I am not a stranger to the gym, I had misgivings. However, the atmosphere of this health centre's gym made me feel right at home rather than judged for being there. The facilities are well cared for and have an element of luxury I've not found in other health centres.
And the added bonus? It was free! After the 12 weeks on the programme I still have another 12 weeks of free access to the gym, pool and classes at any Nuffield health centre in the UK.
I highly recommend.

Nuffield Derby canteen

Nuffield Derby, kids came out of swimming desperate for snack boxes but the canteen was closed. Lincoln (who was supposed to finish work 40 minutes ago) opened it up for the kids to pick their boxes. Really grateful for him going above and beyond for us.

Inconsistent levels of care.

I had an operation at one of their hospitals. In General theatre staff and recovery staff are excellent however once your ok the ward staff level of care is mixed. There is a lack of consistency with staff and there can appear to be a lack of proper hand overs between staff. I had some procedures where there was a lack of explanation of why it was needed and i was accused by 1 member of staff of not being correct about what I had experienced , who then had to appologise because she had got it wrong most likely the result of a poor handover. I asked for a wheelchair to take me to reception on discharge and was promised this would be done for it then not to be and i had hobble onto the ward to find someone to help me. I would say there is a gap in understanding as a private health provider patients can choose to go elsewhere.

Fairly disappointed with their booking…

Fairly disappointed with their booking services that never got me in to get an appointment.

Due to technical reasons I was not able to book my physio appt online, so I was advised to call. I called their main line, the lady on the phone (who was very polite btw) registered me in, but advised she couldn't book me with their Physio in Chester, as they have their diary blocked (she said they do that sometimes in Chester when too busy) and advised me she is going to connect me to Chester directly, which she did.
Woman on the phone in their Chester physiotherapy, dismissed me quite quickly and after taking my details told me someone is going to call me back to book me in.
Here we are 2 days later and still no call.
Thankfully I found another private Physiotherapist centre to go to in town and already had an appt with them.

Atrocious customer service, very disappointed.
