My recent surgery and day stay.

My recent surgery and short stay at Nuffield Leeds was made really comfortable due to all the staff being helpful and friendly. The room was well equipped and clean. I was provided with plenty of food options for my post op meal. Thank you to everyone that looked after me on the day. In particular I would like to call out Allyn Austria who was a pleasure to deal with!

Bit expensive

Only problem is that with one membership you can access to Gym, Pool, Class, Sauna what makes it expensive. Only Gym supposed to be <20 GBP but now i have to pay almost 45 GBP. Also joining fee is expensive. Dont know why you need joining fee. Overall Telford branch Gym was okay though pool is not deep enough to teach swimming!

Overall good some improvement needed

Plenty of classes to choose from. Lovely pool and sauna and steam room. Could do with a hot tub and I do struggle to hear the instructors instructions in the yoga/ Pilates classes. They speak very quietly.

Happy Patient

Iam now 6 weeks in from my total knee replacemant at Nuffield Shrewsbury on 12th March 2026. I went for my 6 week check up with Mr Richard Roach and cannot thank him enough. He is such a nice man puts you at ease, nothing is to much trouble. He explains everything in detail. Thank you very much 6 weeks on and everything is going well. I would also like to thank my physiotherapist Aleksandra Poole who was brillant very patient with me explained everything, with the exercises she gave me thank you. Newcastle-upon-Tyne

I was very well taken care of during my short stay for surgery at Nuffield Health's Newcastle-upon-Tyne hospital. All of the nurses that cared for me were very kind and made sure I was comfortable. Everything to do with my surgery was very well coordinated, and I was given many resources on how to care for myself post-op.

I am unfortunately being monitored for…

I am unfortunately being monitored for cellulitis after contracting ringworm from the Gosforth gym.

This comes after poorly handled situation in a sauna where I was intimidated by a male member of the gym. Would not recommend this gym to anyone due to these incidents and the handling of them.

Safeguarding concern in children’s swimming lessons – no safe changing option

I am writing this review specifically about the children’s swimming lessons at Nuffield Health (Wandsworth/Earlsfield branch).

My 8-year-old son attends Stage 4 . Recently, I was informed by a member of staff that he is no longer allowed to use the women’s changing room and must use the men’s changing room alone.

I explained clearly that I do not feel comfortable sending my young child into an adult male changing room by himself. At his age, this is neither appropriate nor safe.

While I understand there may be a policy about boys over a certain age using the women’s changing room, the bigger issue is that there is no family changing facility available. Expecting children aged 7–9 to use adult changing rooms alone raises serious safeguarding concerns.

In my view, this situation has not been properly considered from a child safety perspective.

Due to this issue, I have had to cancel his swimming lessons, which is very disappointing as he was enjoying them.

I have also raised this matter formally via email and would appreciate this policy being reviewed, as other families are likely to face the same concern.

Dear Gulhan,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your experience at our Wandsworth Fitness and Wellbeing Centre, and in particular your son’s swimming lessons.

We’re very sorry to hear that this situation has led you to cancel his lessons, especially as he was enjoying his time with us. We completely understand how important it is for parents to feel confident in both the safety and comfort of their children when using our facilities.

Our age guidelines for changing room use are in place to help maintain the privacy and dignity of all female members using this protected space, and we appreciate that this can present challenges for families with young children. We are sorry that, on this occasion, it has had such an impact on your experience.

We also recognise your concerns regarding the lack of family changing facilities. Please be assured that your feedback has been noted, and should any future refurbishments or changes to our facilities take place, we will ensure that the inclusion of a dedicated family changing area is considered as part of those plans.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and for your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to have lost you from our swim school, and we do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you both back in the future.

Kind regards,

Ben

Professional care

I had a total knee replacement at The Chesterfield and although I am an NHS patient, I was not treated any differently. The staff couldn’t do enough and we’re always professional and respectful. I would thoroughly recommend this establishment.

Avoid if booking via medical insurance

My experience with Nuffield has been awful. Be really careful booking them through medical insurance and try another option if you can. I booked an appointment in January and provided all the Bupa codes to do so. After my appointment I checked at the hospital to see if I needed to do anything more for them to take payment via Bupa and they checked their system and assured me they had everything they needed and I didn’t need to do anything and that they could take payment now direct from Bupa.
Two months later I received a letter from Nuffield stating I had not paid for my treatment and demanding payment. I relied to the email given that it was via Bupa and checked if they had the info they needed. I didn’t get a reply.
I got a further letter demanding payment from me a month later, to which I then emailed back again and also to their customer services team asking for help in resolving this. Neither acknowledged my email. Three weeks later i received a third letter today demanding payment and threatening me with increasing it.
I have raised an official complaint with them but please be really careful and avoid if you can - others i have spoken to say they have had similar issues and that their payment management team is just awful.

Dear Victoria,

Thank you for your feedback, and I’m very sorry to hear about your experience.

We sincerely apologise for the errors and delays you’ve encountered with the post-treatment administration of your account. We understand how frustrating it must have been to receive payment requests after being assured everything was in place, and for the lack of response to your queries.

This is not the service we aim to provide, and your concerns will be taken seriously. We will ensure this is reviewed and addressed with the relevant teams.

CROYDON CENTRAL. Avoid Nuffield Health at all costs.

Avoid Nuffield Health at all costs.

I suffered a slipped disc and was physically unable to walk, let alone step foot in a gym. I provided full NHS documentation, and they initially confirmed my membership would be frozen. Sounds reasonable — until you realise what they actually do.

Instead of properly freezing the membership, they simply extend it, regardless of your circumstances. I made it very clear I had no idea when I’d recover and could not afford to have my membership dragged out indefinitely. Their response? Completely inflexible.

After an exhausting back-and-forth of emails, the best they could offer was forcing me to pay 50% of the monthly fee for months I physically could not use the gym. That’s their idea of “support.”

There is zero empathy, zero accountability, and absolutely no duty of care — just a rigid system designed to keep taking your money no matter what happens to you.

And to make it worse, the gym itself is in a shocking state. Old, poorly maintained equipment, broken machines, and cleanliness that falls well below what you’d expect from a premium brand.

If you ever face a serious issue in your life, this is not a company that will treat you like a human being.

Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. There are far better local gyms with decent facilities and, more importantly, basic human understanding.

Thank you to everyone

Thank you to everyone, from the Receptionist to the nurses, the Surgeon, the Anesthesiologist and after procedure nurses and even the young man that brought me a cup of tea and a very tasty tuna sandwich.
I cannot fault one of you.
What a lovely friendly helpful team you all are.
Thank you for your care and attention.

Facilities & Staff

I’ve tried several other gyms in Norwich, and Nuffield easily ranks among the best in the city. Its central location is a real advantage, especially if you work in the City. The club itself is bright, spacious, and well looked after, with clean facilities that never feel overcrowded – even during busy periods. There’s a great selection of equipment and classes, and the staff are consistently friendly and welcoming. The range of fitness classes is a standout feature, particularly for someone like me who prefers structured sessions over training on the gym floor. On days when I’m not in the mood for a workout, the pool area is a fantastic alternative – spacious and well-equipped with a jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room. I’d highly recommend it.
