Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 80 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the user experience, finding the website and app to be slow, confusing, and filled with disruptive ads that hinder the study flow. Customers also frequently encountered issues with the product, such as rate-limiting errors, inability to save flashcard details, and outdated or inaccurate study content. The subscription model was a major source of frustration, with many feeling that essential features were put behind a paywall and auto-renewal policies were problematic. Some people also felt that the platform's login process was inconvenient, requiring personal email access on public computers. Additionally, a few users noted that the mobile version of the platform did not work efficiently, and some found the background music distracting with no automatic off option.

They don’t do any quality control

I found wrong items on some of the decks, so I looked for a way to report it, but there isn’t a way. They state,

“Most of the content on Quizlet was created by students and teachers for personal use. Because of this, you may come across some typos or errors. If you notice that a set you want to study has errors, you can make your own copy and edit it before studying the material. We understand that this isn't the ideal solution because it doesn't let people know about mistakes in their sets or prevent others from studying material with errors. Our team takes content quality seriously…”

If they took it seriously, they’d fix errors instead of allowing thousands of people to be misguided. Don’t give money to a company who obviously doesn’t care.

Don’t pay for Quizlet

I’ve paid for Quizlet - what a waste of money and time. It’s bloated, overloaded with different options, impossible to navigate easily and incomprehensible.

Sluggish paywalled mess

The website is insanely bloated, most of the features are either missing or paywalled, this is no better than any other flashcard service. Missing features, sluggish and annoying.. at this point I just write my flashcards in Vim and import them as text.
Would not recommend to anyone! Please move on to something else

This is great, but not great…

It’s AWESOME!!!!
It helped me learn my grammar aspects with the Q Chat, and with the limited comments (on free mode) I won’t be using my phone the whole time I am studying Japanese (or the whole day Lolol) It has also helped me to make a nice long vocabulary list, a custom dictionary, and help me understand many phrases and questions!!!
My only problem with this is that the Q chat not can be really annoying because it asks me for my study habits every time I log on and the chats won’t save. The bot also made me talk about my study habits for an annoying 10 minutes straight when he finally asks, “ Is there any specific aspect of grammar, vocabulary, or kanji that you find particularly challenging or would like more guidance on?”
Another thing I find annoying is that Quizlet has flashcards, but not many quizzes (which was the main reason I signed up) but overall, it good.
Note(and edit): I use the free version.

Scam

Like many people here I was charged by Quizlet for months without my knowledge. After contacting them I got a refund for the last month only. Keep away.

Terrible

Terrible. Even with an excellent network connection and a powerful PC, You will still experience significant lag. The site freezes at times, you get kicked out occasionally, and glitches are a common occurrence. Additionally, it includes ads, which is understandable for a free "learning" tool, but in 7 out of 10 cases, the ads can be highly inappropriate for kids and students. Some valuable features have been either removed or hidden, such as the writing mode, making it hard to locate. Previously free features have now transitioned into "premium" features that require payment. To make matters worse, the built-in voices sound horrendous and are unintelligible in certain cases. Quizlet also used to be better.

Basically functional

Basically functional. Good translation function for languages. But it is so messy and un-user friendly. The whole screen is covered in things you don't need, constant pop-ups and other rubbish. I would pay for a clean version that had less functionality and just did flashcards properly, but the upgrade seems to give you even more stuff you don't want.
