I signed up with Shudder and paid for the first month of their service. I got through what stood out to me pretty quickly, so after a few days I cancelled my membership and moved on.

A few days later, I get charged another 4.99. I immediately opened a support ticket to request a refund, explaining that I'd cancelled and closed my membership and account therefore the charge should be reversed. With each attempt to reach them, they sent back generic, pre-written garbage avoiding the issue altogether, instead resorting to "computer says no" levels of 'support'.

Having read their Ts & Cs, I realised that in their screenshots to me, they had cropped out the part of their terms about UK & EU customers being eligible for full refunds under legislation surrounding streaming services - interesting, I thought. When I brought this to their attention, they stopped replying entirely.

Come January and I realised that I was still owed a refund, after all, the quality of their original films is so varied that I couldn't imagine my 4.99 was being put to much use, and I'd be happier having it back. This time, the response was completely different. They told me that if I believe I am a victim of fraud, I should contact my bank - and so I did.

My bank advised that I was absolutely right to request the payment be refunded, and they told me that if Shudder weren't going to do so, they would. I mentioned this in a further email to Shudder only to receive a "We're sorry you'd like to cancel your membership" response - I took this as a sign that they knew I wasn't going to move on, and so they went back to the generic email responses.

However, a matter of hours after asking for their complaints process, they issued the refund. Shudder cares more about its reputation than it does anything else, and the threat of a formal complaint that is well warranted (and supported by their own Ts & Cs) is enough to make them do the right thing. I waited 4 months for my refund, and it was worth it.

I've just got the 7 day free trial. My view based on the YouTube sponsor's was that it is, THE subscription to horror. Great! But after signing up , I typed in multiple movies I was dying to revisit l"hereditary", "Ju-On", anything you can think of that you already know. They don't have it. What they do have is a lot of stuff that I just don't care about as a typical set in my ways horror fan. Don't get me wrong, it's good if you want the newer stuff I suppose. But considering where I'm from you can't get any of the classics anymore, I would appreciate that by paying for a horror subscription service I would find at least some of the classics. I was disappointed initially, but I've edited my review after bingeing the site for the sake of the trial. Great anthology selection and a few really good , new movies / categories unlike any other streaming service. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed my pics for today. So make of this review what you will. Lol it's definitely worth trying.

I would actually give them a zero. I cancelled my subscription and they charged me over $80 at Christmas anyway.

This service is a total scam. Their original content is some of the worst on the internet by far. Cheap, thoughtless, and rushed. They have commandeered the rights to some notable properties, forcing you to spend the cost of the overpriced subscription to watch one or two movies.

Websites had better user interface in the 90s.

This company is a scam that doesn’t care about its customers — they refuse to refund their stealth subscription yearly charges… If they were on fire I wouldn’t spit on them to put it out. Absolutely garbage business, get your horror fix elsewhere, unless you want to be horrified at how slimy these people are.

I paid for shudder and it wont let me in to sign in, wont let me cancel, you can’t get a hold of anyone from customer service their “phone number” just rings and no one answers. You have to go online and request a call and you get a ticket number and they just don’t call. SHUDDER IS A SCAM.

Paid for year subscription on Apps store. They received payment but will not recognize payment, want me to re subscribe with their website . This is after I already paid for a year.

"Oops! You’ve gotta rein it in. Too many people are using this account." I'm the ONLY PERSON HERE and I haven't even gotten to watch a SINGLE MOVIE YET. I just started the account and this is what I have to put up with? I was so excited to sit down and watch some movies, went through the effort of making an account, adding movies to my list, deciding which one to watch first... and now I can't even watch it.

I attempted to contact their tech support, which kept failing because their Captcha is broken. Who puts a Captcha in to block paying customers? Ridiculous.

After almost an hour I got it working on my own - but then it was too late, and I felt really depressed and angry at the whole ordeal. I forced myself to watch anyway, and then realized this "Shudder exclusive" is the same movie I saw on a free streaming site like a year ago, and shut off because it said it was in English and wasn't. So: I just spent like an hour trying to watch an "exclusive" that's available for free elsewhere, and that I didn't actually want to watch because it lies about being in English. Wasted almost all my precious free time for the evening. And got nothing in return but aggravation and sadness.

Also, I noticed about 95% of the movies there are available for free on other streaming services. I'm so angry and depressed about this. This was the little time I had to relax after a difficult day, and instead I had to spend it fighting with a system that provides no support - in fact, makes support difficult to get - and in the end find out the movies aren't exclusives overall, most of their stuff is available free elsewhere, things that looked interesting weren't as advertised, and I was going to go to bed, depressed, getting absolutely nothing out of this but another day of misery. Thanks Shudder.

We arranged a Dragula titans premiere party spent £800 yet shudder took the payment via App Store but it wouldn’t allow access it took them days to get back to us ruined a whole party I love Dragula but I’ll find other ways to watch it shudder is just terrible and not fun jab good way trash customer service and trash platform can’t contact them by phone either so lost £800 thanks to them and lost about 20 subs don’t bother with them absolutely awful service. Dragula needs to be taken to Netflix or another service that actually works as much as I love it I’d rather pass than give this incompetent company a penny and of my money avoid at all costs!

This company has been taking money out of my bank for a few months. I've never heard of them. Its obviously a scam. When I contacted them, thy denied all knowledge of my account and statrted asking for more and more information from me that theyclaimed they "needed" to find my account. Fraud

Can't really comment on the content as the streaming service doesn't work reliably. It consistently bugs out, has a video load error, or some other issue that prevents watching any movie or show. I do not recommend.

excellent service for watching spooky and horror content, only gripe is a lack of UK and Ireland access on the firestick to their app. use it to watch Dragula and the price is well worth it!

App keeps crashing on my Samsung TV and 2 different firesticks. Can't even stream for more than a few minutes.
Absolute garbage, I only want to watch a few of the documentaries on the free trial. Nearly all the films on here are D-Grade drivel anyway. Very disappointing.

After cancelling the subscription they just keep on charging. When questioning their support people they say "send us a copy of your cancellation email", i checked junk spam folders and they dont send cencellation emails.

An absolute scam. $60. I try to cancel it's all the circle game. Cancellation is impossible. Someone should call the cops.

Shudder scammed me out of my money and I didn't give concent for them to add a yearly subscription to an account I don't use.
I got a free 7 day trial thou amazon prime and I found out a week later that they then charged me £47.88 for a year subscription, I did not concent to this nor did I know of it so DO NOT USE SHUDDER THEY ARE SCAMMING PEOPLE!

Wow so many crappy reviews, this just validates what a lot of people say; aggrieved folks WILL take the time whine and moan about their "bad" experiences but most folks who love something will rarely post about it, they are just happy and satisfied and thats it. Shudder has over a million horror freaks like myself and we love it! if it sucked as bad as these whiners mention then it'd have been out of business a long time ago!

This company is a scam. I had a promo code for a free trial which they accepted. However, I found out they still charged my credit card almost $60 for a subscription that I never agreed to. Now they refuse to refund my money. I WILL be taking legal action.
