Ridiculous

I would give 0 stars if it were an option.
Having to pay extra fees to pay my rent is ridiculous considering I never had an option in using this ridiculous excuse for a company.
I needed to change the date of payment and there is no way to do so. Their FAQ page is no help at all.
Trying to make an extra rent payment is a run around as you can't use the word rent in the description. There is no support staff to contact if there is an issue. Using their online contact feature is a joke because no one responds.
When I resign my lease I will be strongly suggesting they remove this feature.

Bad manager TIFFANY FRZAER

Their manager TIFFANY FRZAER is a really bad property manager. We are so happy to see her move to this new job and we do not need to deal with her anymore. She used to work in Ascot Aumr. She is super rude and unprofessional.
I can imagine how bad is this website if she is the manager.

This system penalises renters further

This system is criminal! More penalties for not owning your own home. Why, as a tenant should I be paying fees for a service that doesn’t benefit me?! It’s totally inflexible, as you have to go through the agency to make changes - which, if actioned too late, results in further fees. Infuriating. A rewards program? I get that free at the supermarket!! Simple direct debit set up? I transfer direct, immediately and FREE through my online banking! They’re totally hands off and their communication system is terrible. If the agents wish to use it, they should bloody well get charged the fees!!!

its a scam, i hope this system gets banned.

its a scam, i hope this payment system gets suspended, this payment system forces you to pay transaction fee on top of your weekly rent, the discounts that they are advertising is not worth it at all,
you will just be forced to buy those gift cards just in order to avail those tiny bit of “discount”. instead of saving money, you will have to take more money out of your pocket. times are tough enough already, they are making it worse.

This is a joke of a system

This is a joke of a system. They take more money in surcharges and fees than it is to put fuel in the car and deliver the rent/water bills than it is to use this trash system. Won't touch it.

Very convenient to use and love the savings

Very convenient to use. Once setup I can forget about rent as automatically done for me on a weekly basis. I love the fact that I save approx $8 a week on my everyday purchases by using their SimpleDiscounts program.

Tenants beware! Simple Rent is trouble.

This product is a scam and agents who use it should be forced to pay the fees associated with the platform. The name is self is misleading as it isn't simple. It makes the whole process of paying rent for a tenant harder and more expensive. It adds an additional stakeholder to paying. They will charge you 0.50 for a text, Yep in 2021 0.50 for a text you know the things that are unlimited and I know from services like twillio are not that expensive.

Also when your agent signs you up Simplerent it adds you to their marketing funnel to sell other products that include affiliate marketing. I received calls from telemarketers for electricity, telcos and then invites to an app on my phone. Not really that "Simple"... I figure this was done in an attempt to find additional avenues to make money as there must not be much in what they charge tenants.

If you ever have the misfortune of talking to their customer support team, it isn't a 24-hour team. So be prepared to do it on their time, again, not really "Simple"

Bottom line if your agent uses these guys it is a red flag.

Avoid if you can

We're forced to use SimpleRent by our property manager. This service is purely for the benefit of the PM yet the tenant is the one who pays for it via transaction fees.

This is the dodgiest thing I've seen in…

This is the dodgiest thing I've seen in a while. When we first received the email from our real estate agent we ignored it because it looked so much like a scam / phishing email.

To avoid the fees (which they make rather difficult for you) you have to log in manually every week to make the payment. Absolutely ridiculous. What's wrong with paying by bpay???

Make sure you read your lease…

Make sure you read your lease agreement. Your agent MUST provide you with 3 payment options in your lease and cannot change these mid-term without your expressed written consent.
My agent (Homes4U, Margate) tried to get me onto this when I signed up, told them no as the fee wasnt in the advertised price. They then said that I couldnt pay by direct transfer because "tenants put in the incorrect bank reference number and the people in the office cant handle it".....so suddenly all tenant are incapable of copying digits and training their staff isn't a priority. I played their game and decided to pay by card in their office. This was their only fee free option, paying over the phone also incurred a surcharge.
Suddenly COVID arrives and they close their doors. The head property manager refused to give me bank details, again saying that they cant handle the payments because we always get the details wrong (I have this in writing from them.....honestly.....what a farce) and I had to now pay by phone AND had no option but pay the surcharge. When I refused and said ill pay by phone but not the surcharge because the way they decide to do business has nothing to do with me, my rent amount is whats on my lease, or ill come put a cheque under the door (whats a cheque they say). The head manager then made it incredibly personal and said that I wasnt doing my part to fight COVID by still seeking to come to their office to pay my rent (I cant believe I've been arguing with an agent about GIVING them money) and that was a danger to their staff. Also, they say the surcharge is only $0.48 so really, why should I be arguing?........

That prompted me to call the RTA and put a breach on the agent. I was told that (in Qld) what is written under Item 9 as your payment options cannot change and I should have been given the bank details since day one as it was one of the 3 options listed. I told the agent that I had contacted the RTA and was IMMEDIATELY GIVEN THEIR BANK DETAILS!

In short, the agency from the start tried to force me into SimpleRent and breached their own contract when they refused to hand me bank account details since the commencement of my lease. Remember, if its written in your lease your agent cant change it willy nilly WITHOUT YOU SAYING YES.

Homes4U tried to force me into SimpleRent and even tried lying to get me onto it. Shame on them and shame on any agent who does the same.

If I could do 0 stars

If I could do 0 stars, I would. I am getting charged to pay my rent, what an absolute joke! Disgusting. I am practically doing my agents job for them; any issues are palmed off to these people now - a lazy system. Who are these people? - there is no contact number or address, it's all through a chat.

How can the agents trust who is handling and taking money from our bank accounts and cards? they now have our details upon signing up.

It does not function properly and I have been overcharged. How is this even acceptable? It's not. Call fair trading if you're being forced into paying unnecessary fees through this system.

This stinks of gouging

This stinks. I'm being forced to switch to this because my real estate agent has signed up to SimpleRent. They now want my rent 3 days earlier or, to keep the same direct debit date, they want to charge an additional 3 days rent. Plus they charge $1.65 for every rent payment. Am checking with NSW Fair Trading as I should not be forced to pay earlier, nor should I be forced to pay a fee to simply pay my rent.

SimpleRent skims your bank account

SimpleRent is an online service for Real Estate Agents to force their tenants renting apartments or houses to pay their rent, bonds and undertake credit checks through.

I am forced to use this system as a renter of an apartment. That would be fine if the product was good, but it is not. Why?

Firstly, they force you to do direct-debit. That's OK but they randomly take out extra funds from your bank account without any invoice or receipt - it's like $5 to $25 they add to me rent every fortnight. When I complain to the bank that I did not authorise this amount, the bank reverses the charge. But then SimpleRent forces me to pay $29 "catch-up fee" plus adds the credit-card surcharge on top! This means to "save" the $5-$25 extra they randomly charge me, they are forcing me to pay about $55 extra per fortnight.

Secondly, the SimpleRent software does not work on Microsoft Edge - it only works on Chrome, which I never use ands should not have to as Microsoft is the largest OS in the world!

If you have an issue with SimpleRent, you cannot contact them: they have no phone number, office address or email! You can only contact them via online chat if you use Chrome.

I am wanting to request they refund these extra random amounts they have taken from my account, but my real estate agent says I must contact SimpleRent...SimpleRent says I must contact my bank, my bank says I must contact my real estate agent.
