Sad once great pub

Unfortunately this pub decided it would focus on food.
So all the booths and comfortable places to drink have been removed.
You can sit at the bar with the three friends of the bar worker, or in the dark corner opposite.
There are now tables to sit at to have a drink. No soft chairs or sofas.
However, very few people seem to eat here.
So now you can sit upright at a table to have a drink, while small children run around the empty dining area.
Can't understand why nobody is going to the pub anymore.

12% service charge for small meal & poor service

We were a party of 4 going for dinner in the pub. They were busy as someone was playing up the other end but we were in the restaurant end so that wasn't a problem.
Having gone to the bar to order, my brother-in-law came back thinking he'd been over-charged. On looking at the receipt 12% service charged had been added.
On getting our meals we were less than impressed at the size of the fish & chips considering the price. The fish was small, curled up at the ends, and the batter was pale & soggy. The chips were in fact fries. the fish & "chips" came with a small ramekin of tartar sauce, my mother's scampi came with none.
The waiter came to ask us if we wanted anything else. My sister asked for vinegar, salt & pepper, my brother-in-law asked for tartar for my mother & some ketchup.
The ketchup came in one small ramekin. we then had to ask for cutlery. No serviettes came. I really don't think this pub should be charging any service charge at all. Disappointing meal for the price & service.
