First time I’ve ever written a review and felt like I had to to due to the positive experience I’ve received. Communication the best with Ash always being a phone call or email away with a honest and professional approach. First order was glasses with double aspheric lenses for my high prescription, when glasses arrived I changed my mind about the frame, more a cosmetic reason and discussed with Ash and in the end I sent them a frame of my choice where they changed the lenses over. So pleased with them especially the thinness and lightness I got another pair reglazed! Definitely be using this company again and recommend them without a doubt. FW

Have always been disappointed with my glasses from the high street. Came across this website after researching bi-aspheric lenses. After promptly answering my many questions, I was informed by Ash that my prescription did not warrant bi-aspheric lenses. I was once again prepared to be disappointed- but how wrong I was! I love my new glasses! The quality is impressive. I have no problems with my varifocal lenses and I am loving the compliments 😉 Adios high street....

I have a complex prescription and always had my glasses done at high street shops but after rejecting my last 2 glasses because of thick lenses after paying a lot of money for thin lenses I looked online and found ThinLenses. Can I just say I will never buy my glasses from any where else. I was sceptical ordering them but they are amazingly thin and light. They are the thinnest lenses I have ever had. Thank you Ash and the team at ThinLenses.

Like has been said before, I was a bit concerned about having my -18.5 prescription (one eye only) done online. Any fears were allayed and their tool for taking measurements worked perfectly. Great service from Ash and the team and easily as good as any high street optician. The only drawback with 1.9 high index glass is they can't be tinted but I can now attached clip on sunglasses as much thinner lens than before. Many thanks.

Like other reviewers, I have a very high short-sighted prescription and some years ago now (in 2016), I found ThinLenses online to reglaze my old small frames with high quality 1.9 index glass lenses - fantastic glasses. When my prescription recently changed, I asked my high-street optician if they could provide 1.9 index glass lenses but they only sold less high-index ones and only in plastic and, additionally, were reluctant to reglaze my existing frames. So, long story short, I bought some new dinky frames online and sent these off again to Ash at ThinLenses for reglazing. I first had a pair fitted with varifocal lenses and today I received some single vision distance glasses - I couldn't be happier with both of them!! Because they are so light and the vision is so much better than with my contact lenses, I am now converted to wearing my new glasses all the time rather than contacts. Ash's service is excellent and the lenses and fitting are top-quality - cannot praise ThinLenses highly enough!

I have a complicated high number prescription and initially found the online facility intimidating.
Ash was totally supportive and patiently guided me through my numerous inquiries, resulting with excellent quality glasses at half the high-street price.
Customer service was prompt and responsive, shipping fast and reliable. They even let me know that my frames arrived and estimated production and posting time.

I feel obligated to write this review due to the exceptional satisfaction I experienced from ThinLenses & especially with Mr. Ash Mehta. My myopia prescriptions are quite strong (-11, -10). My eyes are too sensitive to contacts while the availability of high index lenses is very limited in the US. To avoid wearing thick & heavy eyeglasses, I tried to buy my glasses from Hong Kong where I grew up. The long-distance travelling is getting harder or impractical especially during the pandemic. In addition, the veteran optometrists in Hong Kong that I knew were mostly replaced by franchise stores that tend to disappoint. I tried ordering new glasses remotely from Hong Kong as well as one online optometrist in the US who promised high index glasses. Both experiments failed. I believe the inaccuracy in dimensioning my pupil positions (PD, SH & OC) & lack of interests to make things right were to blame.

I was skeptical when I first came upon ThinLenses recently. Their process to make dimensional measurements online & Ash’s responsiveness to all my questions convinced me to give it a try. It became a very fruitful decision for me. The first pair of glasses (index 1.9) look & work so well both for my short & long sightedness that I ordered two more pairs. I can use them interchangeably without feeling any difference or strain to my eyes. I was never able to do that with my old glasses. The chamfering on the edge is very well done to make them look extra thin. Yes, ordering glasses online will need adjustments to the nose pads & temples which I can do easily myself. I am very thankful for Ash’s precision & professionalism. I have found my optometrist for the years to come.

I really don't write any reviews on any purchases however my glasses have turned out fantastic ,a few years back having used a well know high street chain optician was never really happy with their so called thin lenses ,i have a very complex perscritpion also they are varifoals having done my research on-line came across ThinLenses ,well what can i say Ash talked and guided me through the whole process his knowledge is vast on all optical options very patient with my many requests and questions .
I sent my own frames over returned in less than 2 weeks so so pleased with the outcome have had three pairs made so far ,prices very reasonable they will be my go to company forever

Good communication with thinlenses.co.uk, but unfortunately one of the lenses on the pair of glasses that I had made isn't great and is blurry.

I think it's just a case of bad luck. Yet, they had to fix the other lens too.

Just to be sure, I had another pair made on a competitor website for a fraction of the cost of what I paid on thinlenses and they work very well.

I've always had a complex prescription and consequently, struggled to find glasses I wasn't embarrassed to wear. After my last eye test at Specsavers, I was shown an extremely limited range of frames; none of which were suitable for thicker lenses. I left without a new pair of glasses.

Fast forward six weeks and for the first time in years, I own a pair of glasses I'm happy to wear outside the house! Thin Lenses, and Ash in particular, delivered a great service and they really understand the needs of their customers. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them.

TLDR: these are quite literally the most amazing lenses I’ve had in over 20 years of wearing glasses.

I recently had my eyes tested after a long gap and found that my already high negative prescription of around -6 had jumped to -7.25 on one side and -8 on the other. I had previously had a set of Zeiss glass lenses from a friend who is an optician and these had lasted around 6 years with no scratches or damage. Glass is very hard to find in high street opticians but as someone working in microscopy I wanted the better clarity this provides. My optician recommended Hoya plastic lenses in 1.74 index. Each lens was £189.50!

Not entirely satisfied with the outcome I still wanted glass lenses. I eventually found thinlenses.co.uk and was guided through the process by Ash. I had a pair of vintage 1950s white gold fill browline frames which I thought could be reglazed so I sent across some photos. Ash said they could do it and suggested the 1.8 or 1.9 index glass.

The results are incredible. The 1.8 index glass is considerably thinner than 1.74 plastic and thinner than my previous glass lenses even though the new prescription is stronger. The edges have been chamfered to reduce the look of the thickness there. And the frames look to have been given a check over to tighten up the screws.

Overall I’m very satisfied with the whole experience from my initial enquiries about my frame right through to receiving the finished glasses. They arrived after 4 days, sent by special delivery and are such a joy to see through. After over 20 years of wearing glasses including top of the range Essilor and Hoya plastic and Zeiss glass, I can thoroughly recommend the service from thinlenses.co.uk. Thank you Ash and your team.

First time ordering glasses on the internet and wish I had done it before! I spoke to Ash who talked me through the best lenses and frames for my prescription. Delivery came quickly and they fit perfectly! Would definitely order again from thin lenses.

I was born in Japan but now live in the US, where hi-index 'glass' lenses are not allowed. I used to get new glasses every time I went out of the US to Japan and Canada, but there have been fewer and fewer such occasions lately. Two years ago I made glasses here in the US (I had to) with expensive plastic lenses, but they lasted only for two years; those lenses got extremely foggy with millions of tiny scratches on them. Thank God this time I found Thinlenses. I was initially very wary of ordering lenses online because of the possibility of scam. But these guys were extremely professional on the phone so I decided to trust them, and I am glad that I did. I am very satisfied with the glasses I've got. The price of their glass lenses was at least $100 lower than the prices of those I got in Canada or Japan. I don't understand why so many people buy plastic lenses, for they don't last long because of scratches. I recommend glass lenses if you have to spend much money on your high index glasses, and I strongly recommend Thinlenses. Thanks, guys.

I was wary about ordering glasses online but could tell that the right questions were being asked on the website which gave me some confidence. Because of my strong prescription (-975) I had to call and speak to Ash to confirm they could get the lenses in that strength, and he dispelled my remaining doubts with his obvious knowledge, sound advice and professionalism.
Now that my spectacles have arrived I am really very pleased I that took the plunge. My new specs are prescription sunglasses, which I have never had before, and they are fab.

I am very pleased with my purchase. I have a high prescription (+12). I sent my prescription and frame ideas to Ash who was able to help me settle on the right options for my complex prescription. I went for the suggested double aspheric 1.74, a smaller frame size (47, luckily I have a small head so they look amazing on me), and a fully rimmed plastic frame. I am very pleased with how they turned out! They are by far the thinnest lenses I've ever had in my life. This is such a relief as my lenses are typically so thick and heavy. They are so light and weigh a whopping 4 oz less than my old pair. Ash was such a gem and was very knowledgeable. He knew exactly the right options for the thinnest lenses. He also recommended the double aspheric 1.74 high index to prevent the "bug-eyed" effect that we with strong + prescriptions can get. I am happy to report that I no longer look like Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys! :D I will never trust anyone else with my prescription. As long as they are in business and making glasses, I will be a loyal customer. A huge thank you to Ash who educated me on what options I need for the thinnest possible lenses. Oh, and the website was easy to use, the prices were competitive, and they arrived in 3 weeks! Overall, a great experience.

For years I've always purchased frames and lenses from the optician's store and have always paid a lot of money for glasses I've not been overly happy with. I am short-sighted with the need for high index lenses (-11). I came across ThinLenses and noticed they offered a re-glaze service, which was great as I had purchased some frames I've been after and just needed the lenses to go in them. Ash gave me some great advice on having the double aspheric and explained knowledgeably the best lenses for high index like mine. I posted my new frames to Ash and they returned just over a week later. They are absolutely awesome, the craftsmanship and attention to detail for the fitting is excellent. So pleased to have discovered ThinLenses - many of the online companies didn't offer strong prescription lenses. The customer service was excellent. Ash was extremely helpful. I didn't know which lenses would be best, but he recommended the Double Aspheric Lenses (I'd never heard of them before!) and advised on the type of frames that would be best (as I needed Varifocals too). The service from start to finish was really speedy. I'm extremely pleased with my glasses. They're as light as a feather and the clarity is superb. I used to be completely blinded by oncoming car headlights and avoided driving at night when I had my old glasses. But the glare and kaleidoscopic effect has been drastically reduced with my new ones. Thank you so much.

I am writing from the United States. This company and Ash Mehta deserve 10 stars. My adult son has a very high prescription (-19 and -10) and I am just in awe at how great his glasses turned out. In the US WE ONLY HAVE A 1.74 high index meaning his glasses turn out horrible. Thin Lenses has managed to do the impossible with their 1.9 high index glass lenses. Ash even helped me choose the perfect frames! I can’t believe I see my son using his glasses throughout the day. Thank you so much. By the way the price is quite reasonable for these quality frames and glasses and they were made and delivered in a more than reasonable time. Thank you! Will use Thin Lenses again in the future.
