Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I took my 11 and a half year old dog to vets now as she had difficult moving and her breathing was shallow and rapid. According to Google this required urgent veterinary treatment. The vet seemed fixated by her age, she’s an old dog probably arthritis flare and may have an upset stomach. My dog had went from being fairly active for her age to hardly being able walk in less than 12 hours. She was given dog paracetamol, put on a paracetamol drip for a short time and an injection to stop her from being sick even tho she hadn’t been sick. I was given dog paracetamol to give her from 8pm that night. I left the vets doubting the diagnosis but thought the vet must know what they’re doing. I took her home, she was still panting and barely able to move. She died at approximately 3am the following morning. At no time was I told that she could have a life threatening condition.

Wonderful service - both Receptionist and Vet could not have been kinder or more professional.

Treated my dog promptly and calmly in the middle of the night when she was vomiting blood and had diarrhoea. The vet made my dog feel relaxed and she responded promptly to treatment administered. Thank you!

My wee cat Mabel received excellent care and attention at her recent visit. The staff are very caring and professional, explaining everything very clearly including the process for insurance etc. which can be confusing! I’m extremely grateful to have this practice and expertise so nearby. It is stressful having a pet who is unwell and having such a wonderful, caring team on hand with amazing facilities makes everything easier to cope with. Thank you!

Our cat had been hit by a car so I think we were in shock and (of course) worried about her. We were triaged rapidly at the PDSA surgery in Shandon and met the vet within 15 minutes. He looked our cat over thoroughly and was able to reassure us that no bones were broken. He had a lovely, professional manner and answered all of our many questions with good grace. It's good to have Vets Now as our emergency vet, they offer an excellent service.

Good overall service , seen quickly
Just can't justify the cost off 350 pound even before you are seen by vet

Good service overall but claims process wrongly advised leading to a few calls to resolve.

The reception staff were very pleasant, and helpful, as was the Vet.
Our dog was well looked after, and we were made aware of what to do as follow up with our own vet!

Couldn’t be more impressed with evening emergency service from clinic
Vet was kind and caring to us and our distressed cat. Diagnosis and treatment has rapidly solved the issue. Clinic quiet, staff helpful , only 10 mins drive from our home

The receptionist was wonderful, constantly checking in with us and getting a nurse when my cat was panting with stress. She also gave me gloves and a poop bag when he pooped in his basket. The vet was great, taking him through the back to check him over, saving us the distress of watching him getting agitated.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars it the expense. £336 to walk in the door! Then £35 admin fee. Crazy! Thankfully I have insurance.

Quick experience. Staff and the vet herself were great. Listened and explained things thoroughly. The vet explained all appropriate treatment options and was realistic what was the best course for my pet, all while keeping costs a minimal as they could be.

The vet I saw was very nice and helpful but your surgery was very understaffed. Reception staff were also lovely but under pressure too.
