Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Everyone made our visit as easy as possible at a stressful time.

When we eventually saw the vet, she was great and managed to help our dog and give the correct medication. The 3 stars is for the almost one hour wait (we arrived around 10:30pm and managed to leave past midnight). Also that you had to pay for £35 insurance processing fee, that is taking too long to be processed (this is in comparison to the processing time of my regular vet who does not charge for insurance processing at all). I had to pay the vet fees upfront so the processing wait does give a huge impact on me and only me alone. I am not very sure what the £35 fee is for if its not even a premium service (or even regular service for that matter).
*In answer to your response, I don’t think I want to add more to my stress and anxiety by going through red tapes to get answers. If you really mean to help, please inform your branches to process Insurance claims asap. I had to pay £35 for that service you know. My regular vet that I saw 2 days after visiting VetsNow had processed the insurance claim already (for the follow up appt for the same issue). I should not have to tell you which branch, it should be a standard in all of your branches to fulfil promptly the service that has been paid promptly.

Pip on reception was so kind and attentive and moved us into a consult room whilst we waited to keep our dog as comfortable as possible. She regularly checked on us until the vet was able to see Neville. The waiting room had individual 'booths' which blocked the waiting dogs from seeing one another which made their experience much less stressful.

The vet was outstanding in ensuring that our dog received the best and most thorough treatment. His strategy of leaving the dog overnight so she could be observed and giving her comprehensive tests to rule out any possible sinister issue affecting her health was eminently sensible . The net result of such good treatment was that Lulu bounced back to normal health extremely quickly.

Efficient service with sympathetic vet.
Ridiculous charge of £450 for 20 minutes and anti sickness injection.
Out of hours service of course.

The vet was brilliant, but the out of hours prices are so unreasonable. One 10 min appointment and £300 and something pounds, just to be seen. Bill was £467. I don’t think there is anyway of justifying this.

The emergency admission was quick. Straight jumped to inform me that our doggy has to stay over night and the bill would be over £1000. The next morning, received a call that breathing condition has not improved and should consider euthanasia. The same morning received a second call to ask if we decided for euthanasia, felt pressure. It’s my mum’s doggy but I been sitting her for 10 yrs. the owner had gone to another country for funeral.
Responded against euthanasia as we need to see Darcy for ourselves and would know what to do.when we arrived, the day team vet confirmed that her condition has not improved. I asked if we can keep her till Friday when her owner returns and she can say goodbyes. I was informed that 3 days its a long time. I noticed that our doggy wanted to come with us home and likely being in the care of others she wouldn’t eat and wouldn’t feel good to pee on the blanket. For her condition it was important that she pees out the fluid well and doesn’t keep it inside. I was informed, if we take her home it would be against medical advise etc. finally the day vet helplessly agreed to give her a trial without oxygen till 11am. My poor mother in the mean time calling up to find out good cremation services and calling up other friends who own or owned pets in the past for an advise. After an hour we were informed that without oxygen her condition hasnt gone worse. They referred us to a great cardiologist in Milford - Sheena. She was very experienced and listened to us well. She read her history from other cardiologist (in Leicester as that where my mum lives with Darcy).Sheena kept our pet for 5 hours for test and observation. When we collected her she had improved . Because she was on minimal dose of current medication and by increasing the dose she improved significantly. And we were told that she could still live for months if not years! I took her home, she immediately went to eat. Had been monitoring her breathing by using app as per advise.
Today she wagged her tail and she is coming more to herself after traumatic experience and sedatives. I have to say my mum and my self were shaken up on that day and could not believe that we nearly agreed with ‘vets now’ to go for option of euthanasia and my mum would not be able to say a goodbye.
I would like to advise to read the pets history. And for the owners to make judgement for yourself, when you see your own pet you just know…
I did bring Darcy’s to medication to night and day team and it was written that she was on minimal dose. did you even consider increasing the dose or offering to refer her straight to cardiologist even before offering to terminate our doggies life? I am still in shock from this experience.

Quick admission to see emergency vet. My poorly cat was treated with care and consideration. Treatment and advice was immediate and enabled me to plan the next steps through my own vet if no improvement seen.

They took great care of my cat at short notice. Prices were explained clearly and were as expected

Quickly answered the phone. Knowledgable and ready to help. Extremely caring staff at the practice, which was wonderfully clean and we were seen by a fabulous and kind vet. I’d give the place 100 stars if I could.

The team were amazing from start to finish. No complaints at all other than the cost. My elderly cat is uninsured (negligence you could say on my part) but hospitalisation, tests and rehydration from Saturday evening till Monday morning was in excess of £1900. A day with the vet including rehydration, tests and antibiotics £327. I’m glad their service exists but the charges are extortionate. The vets were amazing.

Similar experience to other reviews. Polite helpful staff, but had to wait to be let out after a 20 min wait in reception after the consultation.
£347 consultation fee (incl VAT) felt extortionate, and the additional £35 fee to process insurance (which was not taken) made it seem like a mercenary operation taking advantage of people who are anxious for their pets. The staff are not to blame - it felt like corporate greed gone off the scale. The vet sector urgently needs regulation and capping of charges

Happy with the service at Vets Now for my pet, less happy with an additional invoice of £35 for them to communicate with my insurance company. From what i understand, this involved resending the documents that they had already sent to me.

People were nice and pleasant clinic.
I did not have to wait too long.
Good level of care and attention given to the pet and alternative approaches explained fully.
But the cost is ridiculous for an emergency afternoon weekend appointment. Plus there is another fee for dispensing the drugs as well as the consult fee.
