Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Laura the vet seemed to strike up a rapport with Tyrion which was great to see as he was really friendly with her. He is sometimes a bit suspicious of new people but Laura put him and us at our ease.

My 14 week old puppy nearly choked to death in the night. Vets Now cover my practice out of hours. I couldn't get through on the phone for ages. When I did get through they couldn't hear me. When I got through the second time I could hardly hear him and couldn't understand most of what I did hear. He kept asking me ridiculous questions and didn't listen despite me repeating myself (he could hear me ok) When I got to see the vet she did basic checks and a basic blood test, could find nothing wrong and told me my pup had probably had a seizure and to go home and contact the vet on Monday 36 hrs later. At no point did they turn on a computer to check notes (we'd been in two days previously as I suspected she was having seizures and she was booked in for blood test on the Tuesday which was the soonest it could be done. There seemed no concern that it could happen again at any time. The only advice was to phone my vet I Monday for a specialist referral. When I asked what I should do if it happened again I was told to try sticking my fingers down her throat like I had that night despite it taking three attempts to get her breathing again. Basically useless emergency service in my case

Friendly caring staff.
To get a higher rating;
I would like blood tests that can determine what poison/drug a dog had been exposed to
Better coordination with the local vet - it seemed like it all had to be explained again.
More efficient insurance claims handling. Having paid the policy excess, and signed a claim form, I am being chased to start a claim.

Absolutely amazing. My dog had eaten rat poison, we rushed to the vet and they couldn’t have been any more amazing. We had Krista and she was friendly, honest and talked us through everything. Honestly I can’t rate them enough. Hopefully my boy is going to be ok, he has a vet appointment tomorrow for a coagulation blood test but he seems his normal happy self atm 🤞🙏

In an emergency I want to be reassured. I'd googled my dog's symptoms and it appears what I suspected was correct however the person who dealt with us really didn't fill us with confidence or make us any wiser. What the vet said they could do was not helpful as they then went on to say they could not do all we would need as this wasn't our registered vet.
For the price of £324 15mins coming out none the wiser is disappointing to say the least. This should be made clearer before a visit is booked. Also one of my dog's symptoms was a limp and the flooring in the reception area (can't remember the actual room floor) was like an ice rink which would not have helped my dog.
When I phoned to book us in, the service was very good and clear and details were provided to my phone as agreed without delay.

I felt confident that Bobbie my cat was in good hands. It was a worrying time but updates on his condition and treatment was helpful.

The vet was friendly, but unwilling to examine our cat beyond a quick visual inspection as our cat was distressed (always gets distressed during vet visits). She said she felt bad taking our money as she couldn't do much. Still charged us the £310 appointment fee, though. A lot of money spent and no further forward. Not terribly impressed.
