Absolutely brilliant Wates Group plumber!
I’m a tenant of PA Housing. PA Housing have a contract with Wates Group for maintenance of their properties and a plumber from Wates visited me this morning to fix a faulty kitchen tap. Sadly, I forgot to ask his name, but he was cheerful, polite, dynamic and highly professional. He actually replaced the tap instead of merely repairing it and did this in record time. There are so many negative reviews about Wates Group on Trust Pilot, but this, my first ever contact with Wates, has been most positive.

If I could write a review without a star I would. This company is a joke and should be ashamed of themselves. Constant no shows without any notice. Booked days off work wasted sitting around for no shows. Of course there is no number to contact them. I cannot believe they get away with treating customers like this. They remind me of an old saying ‘buy cheap buy twice’. Clearly put in a cheap bid to the council and the council being as dumb as they are have hired them. Their own contractors will tell you they have taken on more than they can handle. Clearly. Bet their complaints are through the roof. Would never ever recommend this company. Ever.

Currently having a new kitchen done through wates and the local council.
Firstly the electritians trashed my carpets and fled out of the door without cleaning them. They took my lights out when the workbook stated we are keeping our own lights so I had to push and push to get them to change them back. They damaged my landing wall paint job and left dirty hand prints everywhere. And were heard complaining that they couldn't wait to "get out of here"
At the start of the work I polite requested a socket for my new cooker hood. Which they agreed to but didn't bother to do it. None of the sockets are level.
After expressing our wishes to use a new cooker hood, The gas fitter continues to install gas pipes up round the kitchen near the ceiling that will be boxed or trunked in.. Which looks horrendous and also means we now cannot have our cooker hood installed at all!
I'd sooner have left our old rotted and mouldy cupboards than go through the stress of this.
It's absolutely breaking me!
Avoid the company!
No contact happening through out the time my kitchen being done! I wouldn't even give them one star but it wouldn't let me do anything lower! To get the work done I had to get in contact with the TLO and couldn't get anything out of them, would of been easier getting blood out of a stone to find out was be done and when! The contractors True Colours are absolutely amazing couldn't fault them! They dealt with me personally so I knew what was happening and when. I recommend using true colours directly!
Awful contractors
Terrible service. Workman came out last week but said supplier was too far away to go get a part so made another appointment. Waited all day for a morning appointment and they havent bothered to show, havent contactede and they dont answer their phones, i was on.hold for 58 minutes. NHG told me i might aswell not bother because wates dont answer their phones to them either!
Absolute joke of a company
Absolute joke of a company! Our LHA used them to refit our kitchen and I wished they’d never. Measurements were all wrong resulting in odd cupboards fitted, 3 leaks from shoddy plumbing, bad paint work (they even painted over the plastic trims of EVERYTHING rather than cut in!) and snagging left unfinished. Damage to dishwasher.
Several appointments made to attend but no one arrived. They used Select Installations to undertake the works but no one seemed to take charge when there was an issue.
And don’t even bother calling! I’d say AVOID but like us you probably won’t have a choice!!

Awful company. Had a new bathroom and kitchen fitted they ripped out the kitchen one Friday and didn’t return till 2 weeks later. Ripped wallpaper off that shouldn’t have been ripped off was told to get a replacement and they would pay me back. Was like trying to get blood out of a stone to get it back. Leak in bathroom they have been informed and its still leaking nobody has been round to sort it messaged the contractor to ask when they will be coming to sort it and have been left on read no reply. Stay well clear

Absolute joke of a company
Absolute joke of a company. The actual engineers are great, but the higher ups don't know what's happening. Ripped out my kitchen on the Monday then didn't come back until the following week only to break my heating. They're obviously taking too much on with false promises. AVOID!
Inconsiderate wades no thought for the tenants
I live in a corniche type 2 house in Bradley Bilston we are having a refurb modernisation by Wolverhampton city Council
We had no information to say our window blinds would not fit anymore so we had to replace all windows blinds at the end of November £600 as husband fitted them himself to save some money as close to Christmas
Then our Ariel packed in Christmas week due to falling of the scaffolding another expense we didn’t need we had a new one fitted in the loft the man that fitted it was not happy working with all the debris in the loft as they lagged loft then took the roof and chimney off the contractors have been considerate to our needs and pleasant
When speaking to one of the supervisors she said they new the blinds wouldn’t fit WHY WERE WE NOT TOLD

I had been given an appointment for a day when I specifically had said that I wouldn't be at home. This date and time was sent to me by text message the day beforehand.
I have called Wates in an attempt to inform them of this and arrange an appointment for the date which I had originally requested.
After over 50 minutes on hold with repeated messages saying 'We are experiencing a high volume of calls,' I was cut off! I am not trying again as I have to leave for my hospital appointment.
Why on earth do Notting Hill Genesis Housing consistently award contracts to companies with such an abysmal track record?

In late 2022 this company came to do our downstairs bathroom to say tha there workforce was horrendous.. They didn't speak a word of English and found them smoking Drugs.. So we mentioned it to the site manager and he apologized and said he would get it sorted, because we said we did not those particular staff members in our home in our home as they were smoking drugs at our door.. This is going on nearly 2 years now and still nothing rang up our local housing office and they said that the company will not work for us as we were aggressive lies all lies when we called we were abused on the phone by a manager and I asked him to come to the house and see the work they had done, he refused and told us that he would not work for us as their staff were professional... The managers are rude and aggressive on the phone but if you meet them outside and doing projects on the road they would nearly lick your boots.. 💯💯Avoid this company at all costs.

Although the company hasn’t got a very good reputation, the operative which visited my house to conduct a energy survey who is independent and drove from Leeds to London to complete the jobs was very considerate, friendly and knowledgeable and answered every question that I had with good details and dealt with any concerns I had.
So my experience with wates group was actually a good one despite the bad reviews on trustpilot.
No show up...AGAIN
2 hours 12 mins on phone...no one answered!!!! An afternoon of wages lost AGAIN waiting for workman to turn up !!!!!! Twice in 2 weeks !!!!

They don't respond to emails, constantly cancel repairs last minute, very disorganised and chaotic but of course Harrow Council award them another huge contract for their poor services, really does say it all
