There have been many issues experienced with this company. The most recent issue is that I've been waiting for an appointment to be arranged for over a year. Does anyone answer calls? Whenever the council calls their office to enquire why an appointment hasn't been made – they get nothing. The office opening hours are pathetic (something like 12:00 to 15:00), what on earth are they doing? The management of this company is extremely poor. There's a desperate need for either retraining or replacing managers. Great managers make great teams that result in a great business, but this is not the case here!

One finger doesn’t even know what the next finger is doing. Between Wates and Southern housing I have lost the plot. My mum is 82 and has had no heating for over a year now. At least 30-40 engineers have come. Sometimes not even knowing what they have come for. I have also been lied to about them trying to get in-touch with me, they haven’t! Whatever company the maintenance team are from, they dropped off 2 fan heaters after midnight! And this was only in the last few days! Both boxes were mouldy and wet with damp…. WHO DOES THAT?!?!

Cowboy builders
I reported a problem with damp and mould in January 2023 in my home to West Lancashire district Council. Now being November I am still with a botched job. I consider myself to be a good council tenant and look after my home with pride If I could mark a minus on the reviews I would. A very disappointed tenant. I actually cannot find the right word to express how I feel. Over the past few months I've even sent pictures directly to wates emails and still nothing has been done. They haven't even tried contacting or calling me to find out what the problem is Very disappointing. I am also disappointment with how the council has handled this, at one point i was told by a senior manager that once a problem was reported to Wates it was down to them how they dealt with it it was not for them to interfere. Who actually pays these peoples wages.... God knows what rents and council tax goes on because it definitely is not on good workmanship nor on customer service training.
Horrible customer service
I had a horrible experience on the phone today with Wates when chasing up on a repair they had not completed for a leak. The staff i spoke to were the most rude and condescending people I have ever come across.
After sitting on hold for 25 minutes, the first woman I spoke to asked for my details and then without asking passed me back to the property developers phone line where I then had to start from square 1 again. After spending another half an hour on hold, the second person I spoke to interrupted me whilst I was explaining the situation and was shockingly rude. I felt he was mimicking my voice and speaking in a condescending tone. He also said that I didn’t appear anywhere on their system, despite them literally sending contractors out to my property 2 weeks ago.
I would strongly discourage anyone from using Wates in the future.

A repair to my bathroom light,which I have been unable to switch off for over a week, was arranged with them through my Housing Association for today between 8am and 1pm.
They have not bothered to inform me if they are or are not attending today. I have had no communication from them at all.
They are a complete and utter shambles and I have told my Housing Association this.
If I could give less than 1 star,I would.I am not happy
Positive experience on both occasions
I can’t believe all the negative reviews on here. I’ve had 2 repairs carried out by a Wates Contractor.
Last week I had a blockage & leak under my kitchen sink, George attended my home which is a Notting Hill Genesis property, he fixed the problem really quickly.
Today Aiden came and fixed a leaking toilet, replaced a flexi waste pipe.
Both were respectful of my home and cleaned up after themselves.
Customer services cannot be worse
Customer services cannot be worse. over 45 minutes of the phone, then put on hold and line disconnected. Rude lady who does not introduce herself and resistant to give me her name. Poor communication.
Contractor employed by Peabody housing that does awful job at residents address but does not allow complaints.

Extorted an OAP
1 star is too much for this service. My grandmother was locked in her house and had to call a locksmith to help her to fix the problem. Unfortunately, she happened to reach this company first. They sent a worker to her who arrived over an hour late. He was rude and intentionally confused her. He charged her an extortionate amount of money for less than 1hour of work. She has since had another opinion from another, more honest, locksmith. He told her that he could fix the problem for half the cost of this company diagnosing the problem. He also mentioned that the worker from Wates Group had intentionally damaged the locking mechanism to ensure that she would return to them. Thankfully, she will not be using Wates again. Nor will anyone that I come into contact with. Extorting the elderly is nothing short of evil and should be punished severely. This company needs to be audited by a tribunal agency and should not be allowed to trade until this has been completed.

Disgraceful sevice. As a stonewater tenent i have no idea why they use a company with such a bad reputation. They have bad customer service, digusting repair reputation, send the wrong trade people to jobs. Repairs are fixed cheeply or not at all jobs not complete within time scales.

Continued sending me messages in spite of my leaving the property, at first not a bit convenience but then attempted to contact them to remedy the situation and received a call handler who seemed completely disinterested in undertaking his role in a professional manner, which has put me off on wanting to work with them in the future. I would not reccomend.
