Switched a few months ago as existing host retiring. Would not recommend at all. Have had trouble with email account a lot and they kept bombarding me with "tech speak" language which I didn't understand. Also, didn't really seem to know what they were talking about. Am switching out ASAP to someone near home!

Used to be excellent, no rubbish since being taken over in 2016!

I was with 5QuidHost for a few years with a free plan and a special reseller plan. Everything was perfect with 100% uptime and excellent and fast replies to questions.
Earlier this year I noticed some regular downtime and like others, was being hassled for invoice payment for being just a day late.
It was only when I realised they'd been taken over that I was aware that must be the reason for the changes.
To add insult to injury, I have around 200 domains in the reseller account and now have to change nameservers to some ridiculous long name instead of nsxx.qnop.net! I think they are trying to drive out the long-standing loyal customers! Thanks a bunch TSOHost!

Hi Kostas,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I'm very sorry to hear of the disruptions you have faced and that you feel this way. This certainly isn't our intention and I would like to help resolve the issues you are experiencing.

Unfortunately, I can't find any ticket references or your account. Would it be possible to email us at support@tsohost.com 'FAO Aliysa' and I will look into this right away.

Many thanks
Aliysa

They were bought by another company and are now rubish

They were excellent. I was with them for 7 years. Then at the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016 they were bought by another company, not based in Edinburgh or the UK.

They didn't even tell me, and I guess nobody else knew either. I just started to notice more and more problems and the support got absolutely awful. Then, just as I was about to tear my hair out, they shut my sites down after I was a day late with payment. This was not like them.

I didn't know it was due to late payment at the time and I phoned their support, which I had never had to do. I immediately realised I wasn't speaking to someone in Edinburgh and the pleasant chap on the other side explained he was based in Hungary, I think it was.

When I asked if they had bought 5quid, he said - yes. I asked if they had bothered to tell anyone and he said - no!

I explained this was unprofessional and probably illegal and he replied with - yes, probably.

I moved to 123-reg and things got worse, so, hey-ho!

New owners killed all of my websites and didn't seem to care :(

Earlier this year I noticed many of my websites going down for short amounts of time, perhaps an hour or two. This didn’t seem to be too much of a problem as they came back online without any intervention needed. Then in early February all of my sites went offline and it took me 3 days of hassling technical support to get all things sorted and back online again. This has been a hugely stressful time and almost cost me my business.

When the problem started Saturday morning I contacted the support and created a ticket. It took them over 2 hours to get any response at all before they started to look at it. Eventually over 24 hours later the problem was looked at by the Technical Director - Adam Smith. After many more numerous calls and emails he finally took the problem seriously. To be fair to him he did eventually work hard to get the first website working again and explained it had been a hardwear failure. Unfortunately my main clients website then died again on Monday. Their shoddy initial response and subsequent errors and lack of care led me to feel I was no longer able to use 5quidhost. I've now moved all of my sites away and wouldn't dare to use any more services from them.

When I was suffering the issues I did some research and realised 5quidhost had been bought out by Paragon Internet Group who also own TSOHost and VidaHost. Even before February I was aware of changes because the level of support had notably dropped. Suddenly the engineers were using non English names (previously no personal names had ever been used at all with 5quidhost) and replies were taking considerably longer almost all of the time. If you want an initial reply within 2 hours forget it. Also, the level of support being far less knowledgeable and able to help than in the past. It was suddenly not the company I had been using for the last 8 years. I also discovered they use the same technical support team for Vidahost so you should expect the same level of support and service for Vidahost as 5quidhost.

This wasted almost 2 days of my time trying to get them to look at the problem. This has seriously damaged my reputation with my clients.

When my main customers website went down again for a second time within 3 days it almost seemed like a bad joke. I had to do so much grovelling to my clients it was unreal.

After my decision to move away from them it has caused me many many hours of further work moving sites, dealing with email changes etc as I felt I was not able to trust their company anymore. Despite this extra work i feel it was worth it as i have moved to another company that is slightly more expensive but gives me unlimited space, daily backups and replies to tickets almost always answered within 5 minutes or quicker with excellent knowledge. Can 5quidhost do that. Since January not a chance, and even then they might give you a duff answer!

I’m surprised by so many positive reviews on here recently but i would definitely recommend you read the negative reviews for a trustworthy picture as the other negative reviews have very closely matched my recent experience.

Fantastic company. Better than Bluehost!!

Had major problems with Bluehost and GoDaddy over the last 10 years it's been steadily getting worse. Decided to go with 5quid and they've been wonderful, it has been a seamless migration and a real person helped me every step of the way. Incredible value too when you consider the money Bluehost are charging. Highly recommended.

The very best

I have a lot of domains hosted with 5quidhost and have relied on them for at least the last ten years. Their support is second to none. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them.

This isn't the great company it used to be!

I have been with 5Quid host for a while. The service was fine, cost was ok support was excellent from their home in Edinburgh. We were eventually on one of their top Tentahost VPS packages and all was great.....

......until the company was bought out and it began to go down the pan. Support has become slow and the level of technical ability and quality of response has decreased too.

As a result, my sites have been broken over the entire Easter period with virtually no response from their support at all. I have had enough, cancelled my account and started the painful process of moving my accounts elsewhere. It is another sad example of how a company that has been lovingly built up by people who cared about their customers can be destroyed overnight following a buy-out by someone who doesn't understand the core values that made it great.

Best avoided now if you want decent support or can't afford to have your sites out of action for days.

RIP 5QH I am going to miss you!

New owners - Dead 5quidhost :(

I run a South Devon web design and development company in South Devon and have been using 5quid host and their full service options for over 8 years for a massive range of websites and platforms. Within the last two months a company called Paragon Internet Group has bought them out along with other hosting companies such as VidaHost and TSOhost.

The service is now non existent, originally no matter what the problem was before, the original 5quidhost team in Edinburgh would resolve almost any issue within 30 minutes up to an hour in rare cases. Now i am struggling to get an IP unblocked within two hours ahahahaa - pathetic.

I am now switching all of my websites over to another UK hosting provider of which supplies a much better service, unlimited bandwidth and server space at HALF THE COST! Paragon has also increased the cost of the basic service of which is over double than my new provider of whom offer a lot more.

Goodbye 5quid host, you have been the amazing foundation to my successful company and now it is such a shame to see you go. Paragon is going to ruin the fantastic name and reputation that 5quid host had created over years of hard work and dedication.

Please check that all of your hosting companies have not been bought by Paragon Internet Group and if you do move please make sure they are not a subsidiary.

Extremely gutted. Now have the epic job of migrating all of my clients!!!

Cheers Paragon lizards!

Goodbye 5QuidHost :(

Friendly support but extremely variable ability

You may have a frustrating experience if you are technical and want to use anything but the billy basic offerings. The support people are friendly and nice, but not all of them are much use for anything that isn't resetting a password or the like.. Can take a while to get on to someone that knows what they're doing.

No customer services

I've paid £12 for web and hosting and haven't received it. I've called customer services and left messages and sent emails, all with no resolve. I've asked for a refund and im completely ignored.

Teribble

Total waste of time, 5quidhost out totally unreasonable traffic limits on the cheaper accounts just to force you to upgrade. I was getting ten hits an hour and hitting the limiters. I closed my account within a few hours of opening it and went to host winds instead. 100% better and highly recommended. Stay away from 5quidhost the are a total rip off..!
