Car Status Check will provide you with a snapshot of the car history, and tell you if the car you are looking to buy has been recorded by the Police as stolen, has been declared a total loss or insurance theft by an insurance company, still has outstanding finance recorded against it, has had any previous plates, is at risk of being sold illegally, or has been inspected following an insurance write off.

Unacceptable

I paid for a HPI check on Monday (bank holiday). I received the report but I had a query as it showed as not being able to confirm if there was finance on the vehicle.

I emailed the customer service team and they replied the same evening saying they would get back to me ASAP. I explains the urgency as I was waiting to collect the car.

Today is Wednesday 8:30pm and since the original email I have emailed three times with no responses.

I used a competitor "Instant Car Check" and I would highly recommend them. I received all of the required information instantly.

I am now waiting for a refund which I have requested as I had to pay twice to get the required response.

Thanks,

Brian.

Quick, Easy and Reasonably Priced!

I cannot fault the service I have received. I have used Car Status Check twice in the past month to verify the identity and check HPI on vehicles I have been looking to purchase. Both times within seconds of purchasing I had all the information I needed to make a decision. I paid for the top level service, but even so it is still reasonably priced compared to others, and their guaruntee offers some peace of mind should the information be inaccurate.

Peace of mind

Brilliant, very quick excellent price and well worth it. You know then the status of the vehicle you can purchase with confidence safe in the knowledge that you are not buying trouble.

Very little and general information from the online check

I was initially going to do the check by texting the premium number to get all the promised details. I didn't have the phone at that time, though, so I went the online route. Paid same much as for the sms service and received very generic, basically worthless info (for example, the number of former keepers was not there). My fault that I didn't check the sample report, which I advise you to do beforehand, but the way the website is constructed made me think that I would get the same level of information. Not a substantial loss I incurred, nevertheless an annoying experience.

Thank you for your review. The Car Status Silver Check will confirm if a vehicle is stolen, is an insurance write off, is an insurance theft and it will also check if any previous plates have had any interests. This is not something that the DVLA provide free of charge.

Cheap but.........

....activating your guarantee is virtually impossible unless it is done at the time of the search, which is difficult because it requires obscure information you are unlikely to have until you complete the purchase.

Thank you for your review. We understand that this information is not always available at the time of completing the check however we try to encourage this as in checking the V5 and engine number before purchase, you can potentially avoid buying a cloned vehicle. If any information doesnt match in terms of the VIN, V5 or engine number then we always advise you further investigate or walk away from the sale.

For the Platinum check V5 Registration info is required.

The report is ok but what they don't tell you on the homepage or selection page for silver £2.99 gold £7.49 or platinum £11.99 is for the full platinum check you will need the V5 registration document information. If you haven't got the V5 info you won't be entitled to the £10,000 insurance.
