What an uncortable trip! Plus, first train cancelled!

First of all my train was cancelled without any warning or explanation and I just got to know it after I went to there balcony store and waited 10 minutes in a line to get some information. After this, I had to take a code number and waited about 50 minutes more to be able to take the next train.

I went from Berlin to Praga with DB (2º class) and I can say it was one of the most uncomfortable trips I’ve ever done. In the 6 people compartment you barely can sit without touching the front and side people’s legs, besides very little space for yourself and just two energy sockets in the window seats. After a 4 hour trip I was exhausted. Either you take their trains for short trips, either you go in the first class if you don’t want to go through a resistance marathon. And pay attention: have high chances of getting your trains cacelled!

Deutsche bahn SCAM

Just a quick warning about Probebahncard 25%!!

I tried this offer from deutsche bahn at the end of last year, I needed it only for one way ticket, and as i tried to quit it, people at the customer care center were extremely unhelpful.
I explained via letter and phone that since i don`t need the train as much and the trial period had expired, i would not need the offer anymore and REGARDLESS THEY EXTENDED AND FORCED ME TO PAY MEMBERSHIP FOR THE FULL YEAR!!

just a warning for all, the probe bahn card from deutsche bahn is a huge scam!!!!

Denied access to ICE train with valid Flexi ticket

Because DB trains are often delayed I bought a full price Flexi ticket for a day trip from Bonn to Amsterdan and return, and paid more than 150 euro.
However, when I came from Amsterdam to Cologne with an international ICE train and wanted to continue from Cologne to Bonn on another ICE train, the train conductor on the platform denied my access to the train and said I could only use the local train. I explained that I had an international ICE Flexi ticket, but still he refused. I went to the DB Reisezentrum at the station in Cologne and they confirmed that, of course, I had been eligible to take that ICE train, I am angry that the DB train doesn't know the rules of DB.

NEVER USE DB

Worst transportation system I have ever seen ! There are always delays on trains like, they almost never arrive on time and there is no information that the train will not come until you realise it yourself by waiting for 20 minutes. On the information desk they tell you that the particular train is coming according to schedule but then no train shows up. NEVER use DB if you have to go to an important meeting or something similar.

A New Year present

On 2.01.2016 I had to travel back home from Germany to Denmark. I had to take 3 trains in order to reach the destination. First train came on time, but after I asked the lady where is my carriage(since I had a cheapest seat), she showed me the way and right after I started moving, she whistled with the meaning that they are ready to go. Therefore I had to run in order to make it and when I found my carriage, the doors started closing, so I had to push them to get in.

The second train I had to take was cancelled. I had to wait 2 more hours in Hamburg-Altona and travel to Flensburg first, rather than my final destination(as it had to be at the beginning).

After arriving to Flensburg, I saw a number of people waiting for the train, that exceeds the maximum amount of people it can take in about 3-4 times. Luckily, someway I had a 'prioritized' ticket that could help me to get in, but it was not as bright. We have staid for 2 more hours in Flensburg, since the train had some kind of breakage, that did not let it move. Later on, we got a message that this train will not go anywhere and there are buses waiting for us, that would take us to Kolding first and thereafter we can use a train wherever we need to go. The number of buses came was a lot less the number of buses needed. Therefore a lot of people had to stay outside and wait for 'updates'. An hour later we got a message that the train has been repaired and we can come back. Luckily, there were no more extra 'adventures' after that.

In the end I came home 5 hours later. I wrote a complain and asked for a refund(the company policy states that I can get 50% back if my journey was delayed for more than 2 hours). And I still did not get any contact from them. They are not answering my mails or calls for 2 months already, so it is probably a sign that they do not care about their customers and this is a way they 'refund' money by scamming.

I highly do not recommend to use this company. Try to avoid it and use in critical situations only.

DB - Unfriendly as ever!

Late or cancelled trains and high ticket prices wouldn't be such an issue for me, if the DB in-train personnel weren't so damn unfriendly. When a company provides a service, and doesn't treat it's paying customers with a human touch, why would you expect those customers to return (unless they don't have other alternatives for transport). I don't remember the last time a ticket inspector didn't seem like a reprogrammed T-1000 with only one goal. To be honest, everytime I see a DB poster trying to market how relaxing or fun it is taking the train, I do puke up a bit in my mouth. Please DB, train your staff to be FRIENDLY, WARM or at least be able to crack a friggin' smile, it would make the experience a little bit more welcome.

Traveling alone with a trolley and a child on an EC train SUCKS

It is just not worse it! Instead of getting back earlier I ended up getting home even later than if I had waited for a regional train. And paying a lot more in addition for a more expensive ticket and for an additional ticket to get back to my original stop.

You simply are dependent of some nice passengers. I was lucky enough to meet a kind traveler who first helped us to get on the train. Which is impossible to do alone... The Deutsche Bahn employees for the most part help you to get on if they are around, but only if you are lucky enough to see them and in this case I would have to beg for some help.

Then I couldn't open the door on time at our stop (Augsburg- Donauwoerth) and when I asked the other passenger to help us get off it was already too late. The Deutsche Bahn employee had checked our tickets and disappeared ( I was unlucky enough to be in the wrong car). So I had to travel all the way until Treuchtlingen ( I guess can count myself lucky I didn't had to travel even further ...).

There at the DB Service the woman (who lucks some basic qualities essential for services - politeness and compassion), told me I had to buy another ticket to get back to Donauworth. Ofcourse we missed our connection back to Gundelfingen, and had to wait for another hour.

In addition Bayern stations are already awful if you have to travel with a small child... almost nowhere there is an elevator, not even in Augsburg or Ulm. On the bright side in Treuchtlingent hey have an elevator... at least. The first I have seen so far.

Never trust trains in Germany

Every time you go to Trainstation is stress. If you don't have another transport to your work, forget it to use Deutsche Bahn. Better sleep at work than use Deutsche Bahn.
Deutsche Bahn never comes on time or sometimes it doesn't come.
Thank you for making every day SPECIAL

Avoid Deutsche Bahn if you can

In February 2014 I was on a 7-day studytrip in Berlin. My study mates and I live in Denmark, and we had therefor ordered BahnCards in order to save some money. After finishing the order I received a confirmation email, which said that DB would withdraw the money from my bank account within a few months. After my return to Denmark I contacted DB and canceled all future BahnCards - and I then thought that to be the end of that.

But now, half a year later, I have been talking to one of my travel buddies, and she tells me, that she has found out, that DB never actually withdrew the money for her BahnCard, that DB have added several reminder fees (which she has never received), and that she now owes them a lot of money. I got worried and decided to check my own bank account, and sure enough, DB had not withdrawn the €25 for the BahnCard from MY account either. When I then contacted DB to ask WHY they had not withdrawn the money, all I was told was that they had "transferred their claim for the BahnCard to a collection agency" and that I should contact them instead. Jesus christ... I would GLADLY have paid the money, but DB just never withdrew them. And I was never given any other directions on how to pay them. Now I am just sitting here waiting to find out how much all these extra charges and fees will add up to....

When my travel buddies and I contacted DB in connection with the original order, we were told that we should order online and provide a German address. As we live in Denmark, we provided a friend's German address for the personal data and a Danish one for shipping. We did, however, never receive the BahnCards in the mail at neither the German nor the Danish address (so we actually had to go to Germany BEFORE our study trip and accquire temporary BahnCards), and likewise we never received any bills, billing information or reminder fee-letters via neither regular mail nor email. Furthermore we were never notified of the missing payments for the BahnCards or of the addition of reminder fees - in spite of DB having our email-addresses and phone numbers. That is simply unacceptable!

Also, aside from all this, in connection with the original BahnCard-order I phoned DB several times, and twice I experienced being hung up on when I asked whether it would be possible to speak to an English-speaking service attendant. I also wrote them several emails in English with questions, and here I experienced being answered in German - DB does not make it easy for international travelers.

I just cannot believe how bad their customer service is - or at least can be. I will certainly not be traveling with them again anytime soon. And I advice you to avoid them as well, if you can - for your own sake.

I did not reached my flight because of DB :(

I was about to travel home for Christmas. Everything was planned but then DB made me big problems. I met the first delay at Candidplatz where trains were delayed because of something in the central area. When I came there, it all was a mess. A guy told me to take till Ostbahnhof because he could see that I was i huge problems. I, as many other passengers schould reach a flight, but now we were about not to.
There was a lot of time where we just waited, at the trainstations but also in the trains which were fully crowded.
When I reached the airport it was to late. I was not the only one who was delayed, at all of us were totally frustrated! There was nothing I could do, I just have to buy a new ticket, a new very expensive one!! :( :(
I contacted the service center and they gave me a card for DB, with this I schould have the posibility to get someting back from DB. I wrote them a lot of email, but no answer, just the standard one. ; Thanks for your email, we will answer as soon as we can. But answers could onely be in german. Even though I did not totally understand I tried to answer, because DK really made me spend SO MUCH MONEY.
They wont see their own mistake and would not help me out of this.

I am really not happy about their way to threat people, and wish no one of our out there to experience what I just did.

Its good - compared to the US train system which is nada

I lived in Germany for over a year and took many trains during that time on the Deutsche Bahn service. I will say that the German train system is on time. I mean nearly always. Compared to the American - "It arrives when it gets there" mentality for public transportation, that's pretty good.

Its also relatively clean and safe. I've never been harassed (other than by those pesky ticket takers) and I feel safe traveling the German rail lines traveling alone.

The Germans need to quit kvetching - they don't know how good they have it. Yes, sometimes the train can be a little late and customer service can be slow and surly, but all in all its a pretty good train system.
