Amazing stay, wow price

We were a family of 2 children agee 3 and 8 and mom and dad and we all agreed this was a nice stay.We paid 14000 Dkr (around 2000 euro) for a week wih all inclusive in the fall holidays where the children are off from school in Denmark. we stayed in a hotel called White City Resort near Alanya and everything was in order, with good food, nice accomodation and perfect pools and beach. The travel and transfer was in order and the whole thing was a pleasant surprise.

horrible!

I had a holiday with Wowcher and Wowtravel in Turkey and it was a huge disappointment!!!! They charged an additional 199 euros for food etc. as a hidden fee, I had to find out about this on the spot! I had no choice on the food whatsoever as we didn't stop anywhere else but restaurants on the motorway with set menus massively overpriced. They took us to all the touristy places and expected us to spend money, the sales assistants were following us around aggressively pushing sales. The hotels were in the middle of nowhere and they dropped us off at 6 pm, leaving us nothing to do but watching TV. My worst holiday ever, don't recommend them at all!! After contacting the company and waiting around I've been sent away with a 'sorry' which is unheard of!

Travel agent bordering criminal behaviour.

Attached below is one of the complaints sent to WOW-travel regarding our trip to Antalya between November 2-9. We would highly recommend you to stay clear of this company. To be sure, if you cave in to their rude behaviour and purchase their additional bogus packages, you might end up having an ok vacation. If WOW travel screws up, however, which based on ours as well as other guest's experinces appears to be the rule rather than the exception, you can be sure to encounter nothing but problems. There seems to be no limits as to what methods the company and its employees are willing to use. The describtion below only mentions few of the horrors we encountered, since there quite franqly were to many to list.

On a positive note, Turkey and its kind and helpfull people contributed immensly to bettering our experince. The hotel, Arcanus Resort in Side, was decent as well, albeit five stars might be somewhat of an exageration.

'Hi, we will hereby officially complain over our travel and bring your attention to the numerous breaches of contract plus absurd unprofessional behaviour by your company and employees.

First, evidently, you have NOT fulfilled our contract, which clearly specified that the excursions would take place between November 3-5. Due to you rescheduling, which was not in any way communicated to us, they took place between November 4-6. This we had not been informed about beforehand, and nowhere did the contract or material describing the travel even specify that rescheduling could be done unilaterally by WOW Travel. Since we had booked a stay in Istanbul between November 6-7, we could not participate in the third day of excursions. This represents a loss for us,which entitles us to compensation.

Furthermore, since we did not return as scheduled to Side on November 5, we needed to reschedule our airport transportation, which we had arranged for a cost of EURO 25 from Side to the airport. Your employe Myge informed us after we had departed from Side, that the rescheduled transportation would cost EURO 60. Since the extra cost was caused by an error on the part of WOW travel, you would of course have to pay the difference, ie EURO 35.All this Myge and a person I spoke to on the phone (supposedly from WOW travel) have arrogantly refused. Not only have Myge and WOW Travel denied to be liable for the costs incurred by us due to WOW travel, despite our claims being entirely straightforward, but in addition we have been treated extremely bad by your employe Myge and her husband (also employed by you). Myges husband has threatened us with, what can only be understood as, physical harm, Myge has threatened with calling the police twice (which she actually did), she has denied us access to the tour bus in Pamalukke unless we paid EURO 25, despite the fact that WOW travel owes us money, and Myge as well as her husband have been arrogant, unhelpfull and incompetent in more ways than could possibly be listed.

Bottom line, WOW Travel has committed an error, which has complicated our travel and inflicted financial losses, and instead of accepting liability and helping us, we have been met with arrogance, threats and very unrespectful unprofessional behaviour.I shall therefore STRONGLY encourage you to accept your liability and reimburse us for the extra costs, which we have encountered due to WOW Travel. Since we do not want any other travellers to encounter the same negative Turkey WOW travel experience we have had, we will give a full warning review of our stay on TripAdvisor etc. upon our return home.

We will be expecting your response.

AVOID WOW TRAVEL!

Following my negative experience on my Antalya and Cappadocia tour with WOW travel, here is the email I wrote to their customer service team:

Dear WOW Travel team,

I hope this message finds you all very well today. I'm writing to inform you that I am very unsatisfied with my experience on my Antalya to Cappadocia tour that I participated in on the 26th of October to the 2nd of November, 2014.

I purchased the tour as a deal on Wowcher.com. I felt that there were details NOT included in the description of the tour on Wowcher that I would have appreciated knowing prior to purchasing the tour, and if I had known the full information about the tour would not have purchased it.

Firstly, I found it extremely rude that during our transfer from the Antalya airport to our hotel, our tour guide announced we pretty much had no other choice but to purchase a €199 package with our dinners and lunches included - among entrance fees which we believed were already included - because the hotels were "outside of the city center" and thus too far from any restaurants. It is extremely inconsiderate of your customers to virtually leave them a choice between paying this high rate and starving. If hotels are outside the city center and thus an expensive package needs to be added on to the price already paid for the tour, your customer should be allowed to know this prior to purchasing.

Furthermore, the description of these packages we were informed of during our transfer made no mention that all of the lunches and dinners that were included would be buffets. The breakfasts at the hotels were buffets as well, and halfway through the tour I was sickened and feeling terrible from eating at buffets for every meal everyday. The only hotel which had a quality buffet was the Arcanus resort which we stayed at. Our hotels in Cappadocia and Antalya both had food that wasn't even labeled, and the things that did look safe to eat were mediocre at best. I felt like I basically paid a high price for bread and cheese for the majority of my meals. One of the buffets we stopped at on our way from Cappadocia back to Antalya had FLIES all over the food - needless to say that is dangerous and disgusting. My friend and I refused to eat there, but when we asked for a refund for that part of our package, we were told by our tour guide that there was nothing he could do.

Second, we were under the impression that "tours included" on the wowcher description would also include our entry fees into the museum of Mevlana and underground city. However, we had to spend an additional €30 each to see these sites, which were disappointing in themselves and not worth €30, in my opinion. Perhaps if the names of the excursions had been listed in the wowcher description, I would have made a different choice for myself.

I was also not impressed with your choice of tour guide, Cesari, for the trip. He did know a plethora of history, but he did little to make our experience enjoyable, or even make us feel like he cared about experience at all (see above with the buffet issues).

My friend and I both signed up for the hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia. Cesari told us the price would be €150. Another person in my group brought up why the price listed online on Rainbow Balloon's website listed it as €100 - Cesari explained that €100 would get you in a basket with 20 other people. However, during our trip, we were still in a basket with 20 other people. Either there was a miscommunication somehow, or Cesari pocketed the extra cash for himself. Not only that, after he had taken our money, he gave us no information about where to meet the hot air balloon company, how long it would take, ect until we took it upon ourselves before walking up to our hotel room after check-in at Cappadocia. Had we not asked, he would not have provided us with the information at all.

Needless to say, I am very unhappy with my experience, and will let all my well-traveled friends know to avoid your service.

Keep away from this company

Lousy hotels surroundings - Hotels is nice but the surroundings is dumps.
Exspect to pay 200 euros to join the club for at boring Turkish Buffet, and there are no alternvatives - everything is closed down.
Never ever Turkey again.
